Took a walk over to Amoeba a few hours ago to do some last-minute shopping, and leaning up against the counter as I came in was a really tall man with a really distinctive shape to his head...

I walked over and reached way up to touch him gently on the shoulder, and he turned to me slowly...

"Didn't I see you on Firefly?" I asked with as big a smile as I could fit on my face.

"Yeah, you probably did."

"You played the Elder in "Safe"..."

"I think that was it."

"Well, hey! My name's Chris!"

"Hi, Chris, I'm Gary."

"Great to meet you. Take it easy."

"Nice to meet you, too."

As I walked out with that same smile stuck on my face, I was saying to myself, "Wow! That was cool! But 'Elder' wasn't right. That was 'Our Mrs. Reynolds.' What was his title...?"

So I walked down the block to Borders and grabbed the Firefly Companion... "'Patron'! That was it!"

Felt a bit like a dumbass for gettin' those mixed up, but anyway...

EDIT: Amoeba is this amazing Costco-sized store in Hollywood that sells, buys & trades all manner of recorded media!

Neat story. Don't feel too bad. I'm sure he was flattered that you recognized him. It could have been worse. You could have said aren't you the one that kept saying "River's in Congress" on the bloopers. When meeting someone, it's always better to make a little mistake instead of pointing out their's.

CLJ great story and don't worry. I think that he being recognized by someone in public was likely something that made him feel real good. Just meeting someone that was a part of FF is very cool. I think that many of the actors feel very good about being a part of the ART that was FF. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, I've always been lucky about running into celebrities, since I'm good with names & faces!

Just a few months ago, I met Ron at the Griffith Observatory (sneak preview of the renovations before the official opening), and about a week after that I met Sean at the Alcove restaurant on Hillhurst!

Both of 'em the absolute coolest!

I'd seen Morena sitting at Café Figaro on Vermont months before I met Ron, but I was walking with my stepmom, so I didn't get to stop and say Hi.
