We’re getting reports from a couple of untested sources suggesting that Nathan Fillion, “Firefly’s” Capt. Mal Reynolds, is about to sign on as the male lead in “Drive,” the brilliant “Lost”-ish, “Amazing Race”-ish new action-suspense-comedy-drama from “Firefly” writer-producer-co-showrunner Tim Minear.

One gathers Fillion would play Alex, which means he would replace “Charmed” hunk Ivan Sergei, who starred in the original pilot.

We’ve been told in the past that Fox could begin airing “Drive” as early as spring.

And this from the Talkback:

Here's what Nathan said in his new blog on Myspace. The pieces seem to fit. "YES- I have a new job on television. Not gonna say what, just yet. But I'll be working with someone I've worked with before and you all love him. Don't ask. You will, but don't. All will be revealed!"

Cool.

Isn't it amazing how all our Big Damn Heroes keep finding their way back to Fox?

Let's see... good shows on Fox that Tim Minear has been associated with... Firefly, gone... Wonderfalls, gone... The Inside, gone... Standoff, hanging on... note that that Wonderfalls, The Inside, and Standoff all have Firefly alumni... a common curse here? Hmmm... yeah, I'd say this show is toast already...

I've been following news on Drive for about 6 months, and I've not heard this. I Hope it's true. Tim is great, and from the little pieces of Drive that I've seen, it looks great. Joss loved the pilot.
Drive should be out, as was said, early spring. From what I've heard it's to follow American Drivel....um.. Idol. so april or may. The question is, do they randomlt replace the actor or do reshoots with the Captain?
We'll see, eh?

Is it bad that what she said made perfect sense to me?

My only problem is that living in the UK means we probably won't get to see it for a long, long time! So I'll be adding to my extensive DVD collection, by the looks of things ...

But, go, Nathan! Excellent news!

Yes, we'll probably get to see it in about 2008. We generally have to wait a year or two... or three....

Hey you can never post good news too often...yeah Nathan
So he and Gina are with Fox, Adam's on ABC, Jewel's on Sci-fi along with Morena, so now we just have to worry about Alan, Sean, and Summer

I guess I'm the only one this aggravates. Not that Nathan and Tim are working and that they are working together but there is another show, with a REALLY BIG fan base already these two could be working on.

Do you hear that F*X exects? Yet it's something you can't seem to wrap your heads around.

Sorry to say, Adam may no longer be with ABC. It seems as though Daybreak may have been canceled. Morena is actually with TNT, Heartland was just picked up and if my memory is not totally gone, USA network picked up another season of "The 4400" and Summer has a reoccurring role there.
