Well...since the ever indomitable msg decided to set up a forum for Browncoats to toss off their RL monikers, I thought I would establish this post to ask for - you guessed it - middles names!

Now...while I am not a mod and have no official power to request behavioural limits, I will say the following:

1) Like with msg's thread, this is optional! Give if you feel comfortable

2) Don't be hating or mocking a fellow Browncoat's middle name(s) less they've already established the green light to be making with the funny. Even then...keep it tasteful, dong ma?

3) Explanations or justfications would be shiny if you've got one for why your parents saddled ya with a...unique...middle name

Now...without further ado, I present mine to the world!

Huw Gwyn

Yep...my parents gave me those as my middle names. Certainly makes for a mouthful, which was to my benefit when the ole 'rents got cheesed at moi

Been awhile since I looked them up, but I think they mean the following:

Huw means "mind, thoughts, soul"

Gwyn means "relative"

Honestly thought at least one of them was supposed to mean "pure, white" but I guess I was wrong

So yeah...anybody else wanna share?

Literature has shown us some of humanity's greatest achievements; history, some of our greatest failures -- Alun Lewis

Nothing all that interesting, my middle name is Lynn. Got it cause it's my mom's middle name and my parents didn't want to be creative.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

My middle name is Lucille. When my dad was displeased, I was "Rose Lucille" and when he was trying to be cute I was "Rosie Lucy". I was only ever "Rose" when it came to my mom.
My parents met through a guru named Lucille. It means "light".

Jean is mine. It was my mom's middle name. She was Carol Jean. My sister got my mom's first name as a middle name, Nancy Carol, and I got the middle, Cindy Jean.

Linn.
It means waterfall or small stream of water in Gaelic. I was born in '69, my sister in '72. Everyone was naming their children Moonbeam, Sunshine, Teddy-Bear, etc.

My parents were worried that if they gave us normal old classical names we would be 'out of place' in our generation. So, they gave us both very classical, normal, run of the mill first names and then they gave us 'hippy' middle names. Sis is Star and I'm Linn. They figured if Linn seemed too 'normal' I could always call myself "Waterfall". (Much of the poetry I've had published is under that nome-de-plume)

Jay is mine.

Bradley Jay, when I got in trouble. Between you and me I hate the "ley" at the end of my first name. So I never use it. Except on my tax return.

It's just plain Lynn. I actually have no idea why I was given that middle name. No one else in my fam has it but me. Maybe it just sounded good with Michelle.

CALLMESERENITY

Serenity is my middle name!

"Callmeserenity" partly comes from not wanting to be called by my first name, Heather, since nearly every other female on the planet has that name. (The spaceship part was just a happy coincidence.) I was in a class in high school where there were 5 of us. The teacher gave us numbers (I was #4) and I got fed up and started making people call me by my middle name.

Both names came from a book my father was reading when my mother was pregnant with me. Something about a Quaker family. It was one of those Reader's Digest books. I think they're both lovely and lovely together.

My middle is Lee, for no other reason than my parents couldn't come up with anything else to go with my first that they thought sounded good. Of course, once you shorten my first you come up with "Dug Lee", so fire away with the hilarity on that one.

Serenity, as for their being 4 Heather's in your class, in my graduating class of an entire 73 people there were 4 Todds and 2 poor girls that had the same first AND last names...the only difference was one was spelled Kelly and one Kelli, so they endured 12 years of being called Kelly-Y and Kelli-I.

My mum's middle name is Rose. I've always liked it, but she doesn't.

I'm plain Sara Jayne.
Called "Lady Jayne" when my mum was irked or I was acting like a princess.
Called "Jaynie" by a few boys.
Called "Sara-Para-Pigstye" by my evil brother growing up. S'okay, though, he has a worse name for name-calling
And in one of my high school classes, there were about 5 "Sara Jaynes" of various spellings. Heh.

Elizabeth.

Why? I have no idea. But, I do know that I've had a class with nine girls, and six of them (including me) have had this same middle name. I think the only one more common for girls in my area is Nicole (at least three of my friends have it).

Meh. It's nice, though.

My parents picked Lewis. It means obnoxius comedian that dies his hair black until he is way past seventy years old.

My parents choose it because they were thinking of Robert Louis Stevenson. They never bothered to look up the proper spelling so now I'm named after Jerry Lewis.

Makes me think of the Winona Ryder movie of the same name.

My middle name is Alexander, and it is a family name from the time of the Revolutionary War. I have considered going by Alex before, but never did it.

My own is Matthew. I know, not to original, but my father had a really inventive way of picking it.
When my parents picked out my name, they were sitting on the back deck, reading from a baby book. Dad had gotten so sick of rummaging through literally thousands of names, that he took the book, set it on the edge of the deck, grabbed his shotgun, and blasted it.
The next morning, he picked up the shredded book, and the first name he saw was Matthew. I still laugh when I hear about that one.

My middle name's Ann. Not sure if it just because it sounded good with my first name, or for St. Ann. It may be for a bit of both, but no other relatives with it. My older brother and sister both got named for the grandparents with the middle names coming from the paternal grandparents.

That would be Joan.

I believe I mentioned that I am YET ANOTHER Heather earlier.
I had it first. There was a startling spike in the number of us just after "that movie".
Now I'm at work in the clinic and I hear the front desk call me, but they don't really mean me. This happened five times in one day last week. I was considering taking on a nurse name (like a stage name but boring) or something by the end of that day. I find myself talking to myself on a regular basis, so to speak.
The younger Heathers have my sympathy. It was like that with Jennifers when I was in grade school. At least I had a few years of knowing they were definitely talking to me.
Still.... could be Mary!

..and now I can't get down.

My middle name is Sybil. Not the crazy lady from the movie (which is the first comment everyone seems to make). Actually my parents are history buffs so I got my names from mythology. My first name, Cassandra, comes from Greek mythology and my middle name comes from Roman mythology. I love my first name, but I loathe my middle name (what was my dad thinking?)
