Well, one thing we do is try to catch up with what has gone on during the day. Chatty threads take awhile to go through.

For Magda: (VerseExplorer, too, but your screen name is too long to make work...although her real screen name is Magdalena, so I guess we could sing "VE" or "VX", depending on who's singing...well you get the idea. Love your nails btw...)

Thanks so much JQ. Actually my real name rhymes with the title of the song. It starts with "C" and sounds like an "S." Thanks for the nails compliment. I'm glad you noticed!

James, ear infections are brutal. I hope you are getting some help.

RIMG, being vertically challenged, I absolutely love to have a tall man come by and help me get things off the top shelves in the store. I agree with RMMC, we do appreciate anyone that notices and helps us out.

MsG, I absolutely hate going to workshops and especially when you know all of the information that they are covering. Is this the last one? I hope so. Thanks for brightening my day with the cat pics.

Mav, I love your pics, too. Especially the one with the BIG cat and little cars and people.

McQ, I've been missing you, too. We need our Court Jester.

Hi, to Hell'sKitten, Zeek, DTH, and anyone else that I might of missed.

Ooops! Magda, I almost forgot that I just read your post. I hope your Dad gets stuck in traffic, so that he won't come home and take the computer away from you.

I agree. I started with Fahrenheit. The great metric conversion tried to happen, so we were forced to learn about Centigrade. Now I need to teach children about Celsius. Living in the Phoenix area, I have developed my own system:
It's warm.
It's kind'a hot.
It's hot.
It's really hot.
It's damn hot.
It's f ing HOT.

I know I should not be mentioning this when the rest of you are experiencing the cold and snow. Sorry, come down to the southwest for a visit. This is the perfect time to come.

LOL - You know about that scorching desert heat. I grew up in the midwest, and I know about humidity. It's icky and sticky. When it reaches 120 F, anything left in a car melts. It takes your breath away.

Edit: Ooops, that was way too BIG. I think I'll take it out. It was just an outside thermometer that registered over 120 F. Take my word for it. It gets HOT.

VerseExplorer - Good to know I've been missed by you too. And to think I wasn't sure my presence here was really all that noticed except by a select few - shame on me, eh?

As for temperatures, I don't know anything about the heat this time of year except that I tend to miss it. Right now as I type this it's a frigid 10 degrees (yes, Far-In-Height - you get the idea). My fingers are like little icicles as they tap-dance along the keyboard. Brrrrr!!!

A few ponderables today...

The random acts of kindness thing I must admit to not being very good at. I'm always polite and will hold open doors and such, but I'm not one for giving to the homeless or anything. Too many "homeless" I've spotted just conning people. I will do random kind acts for people I know, but strangers I just tend to be nice too. I'll usually help if they appear to require it but normally just walk on by people.

On relationships in the workplace...I can't see anything wrong with that. You spend a lot of time together and could get to know each other well enough that you'd want to try it. If it works then why not. Could be awkward if theres a split but hopefully you would get over it. I've no experience with relationships as of yet so what do I know?

Guys wanting to be friends just to get in the sack, they aint friends at all. I really hate people that do that. Gives guys a bad name.

As for giving the guy you think has a crush on the hint you aint interested...ask him if he is, and just tell him straight. Explain it well enough and be nice about it and he shouldn't think you're an ass who's full of yourself even if he wasn't interested. He seems to like you well enough so he might find it more funny than offensive if you thought he had a crush on you.

Was there more? I cant remember. I think thats my longest post ever on FFF. Go me!

Dn Cold. That is the temperture in Milwaukee today. Cold on top of cold. I don't care what system you use to measure it. But it can get colder. I think that is what makes it worst. If it feels cold at a high of 5 DEG F., than what will it feel at -5 DEG F. I do not think the term cold applies.

I say Celsius, but type Centigrade 'cause I'm spelling impaired and the latter is easire for me to spell. But yeah, they really should make up their minds about what to call something before cramming down everyone's throat.

Okay, it's colder where you are: you win. this is one contest I'm very happy to lose.

I've gone in mid-January, generally the coldest two weeks of the year in Detroit (if it's time for the Auto Show, it's bloody, fg cold out...and snowing) to Vegas. It was lovely. I got up every morning, checked the temp at home (below zero), laughed and went out in the sunshine in a t-shirt and shorts.

Which makes it a WET cold! I suppose we should be thankful it took the three days to hit the low instead of going from 70 to 5 all in one day as it sometimes does.

Oh, BTW...Hi Penguin! Long time no see.

The weather here in (not so) bonnie scotland is pretty poor too. Its pretty cold but I've had worse, pretty windy too but thats not so bad either. What really bothers me is those two combined with almost never ending rain. Its all it ever does here and in winter even more so. Its constantly wet and miserable. I'd kill to see some snow, sun, hail, tornado, fog just anything to break up the rain.

It is a beautiful place in the winter time. When I first moved down here it was January. It felt great to put my feet into the pool. Now, I never even think of getting in a pool until June.

I can certainly understand hating all that rain.

One of the bad things about winter in our northern climates are the overcast days. Even if does not snow we are still cloudy. And rain forces you to stay in more. At least we can get outside once in a while here in this region.

I was staying with friends and as it was going down in the mid-fifties at night they had the heat on! I ended up closing the vent and leaving the window open. After 10 degrees, 55 was teriffic sleeping weather.

When i got there, my friends wanted to know what i wanted to do and suggested lots of things. My response was "anything that doesn't necessitate my putting my winter coat back on." So, no seeing the mustangs in the mountains or going to the Grand Canyon for the day. Someday, I'll go see those things...when the temp's not at one extreme or another.

Not bad. The cold won't last. They never get the streets on our side of town cleaned off. To many cars parked on the streets to do a good job of plowing. So when it freezes the streets are like an obstacle course. Not good for the shock absorbers or back bones.

Hello all you wonderful folk!!

Traveler I am sending you a very warm hug from very warm Melbourne - I think I have emailed friends in the US & Uk but not posted here that we are facing potentially the worst bushfire weekend in history in Vistoria this weekend... The temp will be 37c on Saturday with strong Northerly winds (that's the hot wind over here) and there are already over 50 fires burning across the state... please spare a thought for us!

Also our water levels are at a record low... under 41% capacity in the damns... not good either so if you could redirect some of that rain - we'd appreciate it!

Hello Navy I didn't htink you would mind a 'workplace romance' and I agree with you that it would be best to just tell the poor guy that he doesn't have a chance if, in fact that is the case... Mind you - I know that HK doesn't live and work in Glasgow & isn't throwing any bricks in this guys direction... and I do think he should ask her out on a date... that way, at least, she could say no and then it would all be out in the open and things could return to normal in time!!!

Hi RMMC Hello my KC - VerseExplorer... who else is about - I have to get going but might pop in later...

Oh, and I know what goes on at night, qing ren... all of the U.S.A wakes up and posts like crazy and then goes back to sleep - and we get up in the daytime and wonder how to catch up with it all!!! Sleep well!

HK - Hmm, I'm a little embarrassed that I jumped to conclusions about your vocation. Sorry about that. Still, the thing about men getting the wrong idea from women stands. Culture in general encourages men to think with things other than their brains. You just happen to be one of many innocent bystanders who suffer because of it.

MSG - You'd be surprised how similar most operators are personality-wise. Extensive testing is done to screen out psychologically undesirable candidates, and even after that you can get peered out at almost anytime. The end result is people who've been selected to best work with one another by the military and by the people themselves. I actually almost washed just for being a virgin, so you can see how unitarian they like you to be. I think it'd be safe to say me plus an enormously high sex drive would be the average guy in my line of service.

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

I am quite a way away from those fires VerseExplorer... though I did see a spot fire on my way home from Lauren's Christmas concert tonight - they can pop up anywhere with flying embers and tinder dry undergrowth and general ignition point heat and no humidity... it is indeed a dry heat! Thank you for asking Honey!

I don't think Penguin need icecream to keep cool, but I just ate some and I also have some 'cowboy' shots here so I might pop in to the pub in a wee while...

Hey CMH - did I say congratulations about the redeployment? I do hope I did but just in case - well done! I'm glad you're on our side!

Good to know that you are not too close to the fires. Take care.

I did get a great card in the mail today. Thanks so much. You are too sweet!

You are right. Penguin is COOL. He doesn't need the ice cream, but he just might like it.

I am winding down right now. I think I need to get some sleep. Hope to see you on FFF.net tomorrow.

Tristan - Your mention of the sometimes success with that line reminds me of a story from my college freshman roommate, though this is a lot less subtle than yours. He told us that he had a friend who used to go to parties, walk up to girls, and say "Wanna ?" He said his friend got slapped a lot.

He also said his friend got ed a lot too.

HK - I'll bring some munchies for the flight to NZ, and yay for engineers! (EE here) :)

Magda - You owe me a brownie.

I'll take wet heat over dry heat any day (I might just have a smutty mind, but it seems that at least once a day recently I have to make sure that other smutty minds don't think the wrong thing about my comments, such as this one).

EDIT: Mornin' LA! E-mailage coming your way soon. *hugs*

Wet over dry would be a good thing ...See what you've started !

I'd listen to Tristan's line way before some others I've been subjected to.It's original ,which stands out.
