Just when I thought Sci-Fi Channel liked us better than Fox, I see the line-up for the upcoming "marathon" on Dec. 12, and they're NOT showing Serenity, Safe, Our Mrs. Reynolds, Jaynestown, Out of Gas or Ariel!!

http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=12-DEC-2006&feed_req

SCI FI EAST Dec. 12, 2006

08:00 AM THE TRAIN JOB
09:00 AM BUSHWHACKED
10:00 AM SHINDIG
11:00 AM WAR STORIES
12:00 PM TRASH
01:00 PM THE MESSAGE
02:00 PM HEART OF GOLD
03:00 PM OBJECTS IN SPACE

What the hell are they doing?!!

This is almost worse than what Fox did to us (except for the fact that they're airing the eps Fox never did)!

'Least they're showing it.

Remember a while back they showed Serenity - War Stories. Maybe they're trying to finish it, but trying also to show a couple of the earlier episodes so newcomers can understand better.

Though I suppose if they're doing that, they should at least show Our Mrs. Reynolds too...

Except the big issues have always been completeness and proper sequence, right?

That's what SCI FI assured us when they first started airing it...

Now you can see creator Joss Whedon's vision of the future as he intended it to be seen: SCI FI is going to air the entire run of Firefly, in the order specified by Joss Whedon himself.

I believe that was for the first airing; it's a tad bit old.

There's an old saying: beggars can't be choosers. Again, I say at least they're showing it.

(The episodes are technically in order too; they don't skip around hpahazardly. Just missing a couple imbetween, and the first one.)

Sorry, I was thinking that there might still be people out there who'll be encountering Firefly for the first time on Dec. 12.

My first exposure was through the DVDs, and I must've watched 'Serenity' 20 times.
I can't imagine a better intro to a series.
'The Train Job' wasn't it, and I feel bad that the original Browncoats had to suffer through the "scrambled" presentation.

It takes all kinds to make the world go ‘round. Unfortunately, some are pedaling in the wrong direction...

I would love to see every episode aired, but for reasons I couldn't possibly fathom, they always leave a few out. At least this "marathon" will include the final three episodes, which I think revealed some very important character traits. I'm so glad their showing anything! And on my Dad's birthday, too. I'm going to make him watch it. I know he'll love it. I gave him my original copy of the BDM. Maybe I can rope him and Mom in, too.

Hello fellow browncoats,

CLJOHNSTON108 I hear you and understand your concern. I really want to thank Si/Fi for doing this in the first place. They don't have to. Now for bringing new recruits into the browncoat fold, yep it may not be the best way but it's better'n nothing. I would love if the Si/Fi channel could produce some kind of mini-series this summer. I'm sure the viewer numbers would not dissapoint.

Anyhoo if any oldtime browncoats are a little iffy watching the marathon the way it will be aired by Si/Fi a solution may be to watch the ones not being aired on their dvd player the night before. Then pick up in the morning with the marathon. Just a suggestion.

Woman, you are completely off your nut.

That is a bit odd the way they have the list, but I agree that at least it's on there. There have been so many people that I mention Firefly to that tell me "Oh yeah! I saw that on SciFi. I really liked it." Then I usually end up having them over to watch other episodes and the BDM. I think just how wonderful the episodes are speaks for themselves and usually when people like something they look into it further. I've read so many of our own Browncoat stories that are just that way. I am a little personally miffed that they left Out of Gas off the list though. That is my fav episode. *pouts*

Well, I actually haven't watched TV since Babylon 5 ended in '98, just DVDs of shows I hear a lot about, so I didn't know about the earlier Serenity-War Stories marathon.

I just think Serenity should always be the first episode of Firefly anybody sees.

For one thing, if you see Serenity after watching the other episodes, all that mystery that Joss worked so hard to build up around Simon and his big silver box goes right out the window.

The important thing is that there showing it at all so that ne nonbrowncoats that see it can be enlightened. Sure they arent showing it in order but maybe that will just encourage the people that see parts of the marathon and like it to go buy the series on DVD. Besides who out of neone on here doesnt own the series on DVD already... you could certainly watch the other episodes like that.

I second that Atticus. At least they're showing it and I think this could bring in some new browncoats.
I wish they'd show the whole thing or at least include Serenity and Out of Gas but oh-well. Something IS better than nothing.

Also, on the scif.com boards for Firefly there is a lot of talk about after the marathon sending emails to scifi thanking them for airing it and requesting that Firefly be aired as a primtetime summer replacement series, each week hosted by another member of the cast or crew who could share some thoughts on the episode. The hope is to A) get some fun new interviews to watch and B) spark interest in a revival of the show.
Sounds like a great idea to me.
