My personality has not changed much in the last five years. Most of my change happened when I joined the Army.

I have mellowed out a bit and gotten quieter but not too much of a difference.

LA29 - all the faces I use are from this site here. Too lazy to get my own. I just cut and paste the formula on the left side of the screen when I post.

Well if you mean the smilies you see in the box to your left on FFF then you just put a : the word inside the colon next to the smiley of your choice and then another: If you mean other location ones, I only know how to do that if you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser. If you do then go to a website with emoticons or animations you like ( just google them) and place your cursor over the animation. Right click and when the menu pops up scroll down to the words "copy image location" click on it and then come back to your replay. Paste the url into your reply." Penguin has a much better set of instructions but I don't have the link to it

Morning, Everyone!

I've changed a lot in the last 5 years. I've had a child who has taught me so much about unconditional love and Pokemon. I left my husband, I got back together with him, and we are stonger than before.

I'm much more tolerant of others. I listen more and talk less. I work with people, instead of competing with them (most of the time )- and I like to think that I stand up for myself more than I've ever done.

Last 5 years, I'm not sure. I was impatient and irritated by people and things in my 20s. I calmed down in my 30s. I became self aware and confident in my 40s. I liked turning 50. I don't think I've changed much over the last 5 years. Although, I did retire last year, and I'm working part time for fun (just three hours a day). This has really changed my attitude, but I don't think that changed my personality.

Professors tend to be that way. I was taking a calculus course, being taught by the head of the department. He raised the book that he held in both hands. You could see holes in both the elbows of his shirt. He has to be single. No wife would let her husband out the door looking like that. Of course men do find ways of sneaking out.

I can say with some surety that my personality has changed fairly drastically in the last five years.

Five years ago, which, if I recall my dates correctly, was my last year of high school, I was in a swirling vortex of depression and self-loathing, which came to a head in what I called 'my suicidal year'. My first year of University wasn't much better, with my disposition remaining fairly well unchanged. The next year, though, I had a bit of an upshot, the depression receded a bit, and I started to live again. The third year was better than that, and now, I'm comparatively shiny. Of course, shiny is a very subjective word: for example, where I am now, mentally, would have normal/well-balanced people recoiling in shock and muttering "oh my god, that poor boy..."
Furthermore, now that I'm on medication, my personality might change even more fairly soon.

Blech, it's miserable up here. It's hale-raining, it's bloody cold, and my car's tire is flat so I can't go anywhere.
Bugger.

I'd say I've changed quite a bit. I'm a lot less sweet and more cynical to say the least.

Ha! Thought you could get away from me by moving to a new thread, did you? No such luck! I can follow your Ion trail anywhere in the 'Verse!

LA29 - Ya just gotta except the booby comment for what it is: gratuitous. Besides, the subject--which I recently came to find out, and feel much better about myself as a result--has been an obsession with both sexes in this thread since long before I came onto the scene.

Five years take us back to 2001 (for the mathmatically impared). My world, as has been its habit every half decade or so since I can remember, has been set on its ear. Before 9/11, Toni and my living arrangements changed drastically, undoing what the last 11 years had done gradually. It was like starting over but better, since we had the advantage of all our experiences and such.

Then came 9/11 and all that meant to each one of us. The most profound effect it had on me long-term (and I recovered now) was that it turned me into a news junkie. At first that made sense, but 3-4 year later? Not as much.

Subsequent to that I joined the ranks not only of the Browncoats, but the clinically depressed. Mending fine, I think (and my depression was far from, what?..."critical"? "severe"?). It's been a helluva ride, but for me life always has been, no matter what direction it's going.

Amends for the "booby":

Sam: Hey, what's happening, Norm?
Norm: Well, it's a dog-eat-dog world, Sammy, and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear.

Paul: Hey Norm, how's the world been treating you?
Norm: Like a baby treats a diaper.

LA- don't worry you are completely stuck with us like it or not

I certainly hope that I have changed for the etter in the last five years seeing that I was 15 then. I'll go ahead and give myself the benefit of the doubt in saying that I have matured a bit anf I have definitely gotten nicer, but with the niceness (is that a word?...oh well)I have also gotten shy which I could do without.

...and now I have time to post!

Has my personality changed in the last five years? Yes and no. A lot has happened to me, and I do mean a lot! Bereavement, redundancy, bullying at work, depression, BIG change in my career and a change in my family circumstances too. Lots of drama, basically.

I'm definately a stronger, happier person than I was, but I also recognise a lot about myself that hasn't changed. Not all of it negative, mind you, just personality stuff more than anything.

Shocking though it may sound given my job and my behaviour here, I'm actually quite introverted and solitary by nature. I have a few friends, but not a wide social circle, and I'm much happier sitting at home with my nose stuck in a book than I am on a wild night out. I'd get lonely without any social contact, but I don't need a great deal of it. Must be why I attention seek like crazy once I'm here!

I also get a lot of contact from my job since I'm dealing with people, and I'm lucky in that I tend to get on with most people.

Despite everything I'm still a people pleaser and I don't think I'll ever take criticism as well as I should. Overall though, I'm happy with me Not perfect, but definately okay!

Yep, LA, I'm a happy hippie!

Oh, and on what you said earlier - don't worry! It's very, very easy to get caught in a cycle of negative thinking, always bracing yourself for the next crisis/disaster/trauma. Life doesn't work that way, difficult though it may be to believe sometimes! It can be very, very hard to do when things are at their worst, but if you believe that your troubles will end and good times will come then they really will. I swear! It happens for real!
