People had been telling me to check out Firefly, but as I am not a HUGE Si-Fi fan I was skeptical. I happen to see it on sale for my husband's birthday and he loves Si-Fi and had mentioned he wanted to check out Firefly. I picked it up as it wasn't too expensive. WOW! I think I loved it more than he did. When we began watching the series, (and I must mention here I own all 7 season of Buffy and all 5 seasons of Angel) my husband asked me to pick up the movie so that we could complete the set. I have not as yet watched the movie and am doing so tonight. I can't wait. I only wish it wasn't the end. I was thrilled with the series and hope that there will somehow be more. I want more Joss...hear that Universal? I WANT MORE...I PROMISE TO WATCH BUY OR DO ANYTHING IT TAKES! I was angry when I heard what the networks did to Angel, but I am hoping that as fans we can stop this from happening with Firefly. It is almost impossible to find this kind of television any more. I am sorely disappointed with most of what I see and I just can't seem to get enough of Joss' humor or drama. Please give us more!

Howdy and welcome.

You'll want to check out the comics and the River Tam sessions (someone'll be along shortly with the links). They're not much, but they're more Firefly. There's also an unfilmed script around here, called "Dead or Alive."

Welcome TracyLane:

If you only you knew how many time I've said the same thing and heard it from others. We know your feelings. You have found people who share them. You are so welcome to be a part of this verse. A Browncoat you are and know this is your home. Don't worry about asking anything. You may think we would get tired of answering the same questions over and over. But we know new people have so many questions that we never tire of giving you the answers. People took the time to help us out and we will do the same for you. We try to make this a place to enjoy. So explore and see all the things we do here.

make sure you check out the graphic novel (Those Left Behind) too - and watch for new issues next year. There's also some visual companion books available - 1 for Serenity, and 2 for Firefly (1 out now and 1 being released soon)

Well thank you so much for the warm welcome. I have lots to learn about the site, but I will be sure to vote on December 1st. I watched and enjoyed the movie, but was devastated to see Wash go!! He was my favorite charrie. Knew one of them would tumble though, couldn't expect it to be all lights and pretty roses.

Welcome to the 'verse. I was lucky to enough to get hooked before the BDM, so at least I got that as my something more, of course that's still not enough though. Still, there's always hope for more.

Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: Oh God, of God, we're all going to die?

Welcome to our shiny boat here, TracyLane. We're glad you've joined us.

I wondered if you'd come back and post and let us know what you thought about the BDM. Being a long time Joss fan from your first post, I suspected you'd be devastated, but also know that Joss does do those things.

I thought they'd all die before it ended. So I was happy we didn't lose them all...but like you I was so broken up by losing Book and Wash.

I do this traditional thing of handing out virtual browncoats to the new folks... so you get one too...

*hands TracyLane a browncoat since she's now a Browncoat*

We all want more. We pine for it. I know I still do. As you've seen, we have many things to read, many things to catch up with and fun on this board. I hope truly that one of these days they announce we'll be getting more in the way of the show or movies. Until then, I stay here because I love it here and love these folks and love this 'Verse. And like all Browncoats I hold the line.

I also tell as many folks in as many ways that I can about Firefly and Serenity. Check out our guerilla marketing threads for more info on what some of us ( each of us in our own ways) are trying to do to boost the signal.

Make yourself to home, TracyLane. Enjoy yourself.

Welcome to the fold Tracy. Hope to be seein' you around these parts!

And yes, anyone who watches the DVD's and absorbs how really good it is understands our obsession with Firefly. It's an amazing story with an amazing cast. Why is it that really good things seem to end tragically?

I wish we could have more! I was in a state of shock when Objects in Space just ended and that was it! I don’t think you have to be a Sci Fi fan to be a fan of this show in particular because its different from most Sci Fi shows.

Welcome TRACYLANE, glad to have you onbooard.

It's funny but I was watching the pilot eps last night (for the 20th time) and my younger son was in the room cleaning his paintball equipment. He is not a big si/fi fan although he's watched a few eps with me. I find it interesting that he was watching and laughing at a show he's seen a couple of times himself. Just goes to show you how well writter and well acted the show was.

Anyhoo, enjoy the forum. Post all you want and first chance that you get go by the galley and grab a bottle of mudders milk....cheers.

Welcome to our shiny site TracyLane!!!
I always think it's intereting how there are a lot of people here who weren't really sci-fi fans before they saw Firefly. I know I had never really enjoyed a sci-fi enough for it to become an obsession, but that's exactly what happened with Firefly! Anyway, hope to see you around here more!

Well, I was asked as to what I thought of the movie. I loved the show more...but then I think a lot has to do with the fact that I was meeting such interesting people for the first time and becoming completely obsessed with the show so that has something to do with it. I think I should have waited awhile to watch the show after the series. However, when dealing with obsession, it is easy to say that something came in second...the movie was AWESOME.

I was totally prepared to see some of the main charries die. I, too, had little hope of any of them making it out alive. I know this isn't the popular vote, but I did expect more from the movie. I am sure Joss had to work within budget constraints and that stopped him from making it longer, but I would have like to have seen more of the crew. I think it was more not wanting it to end. (Could he have actually put enough into the movie to satisfy his fans?)

As far a Joss is concerned...yes I am a long time fan of his. I respect his writing ability and appreciate that there is some intellect behind his comedy. That is so rare. We watch the "stupid" box, but Joss redefines that. You actually have to have brain waves to enjoy what he writes. Perhaps that is why they keep cancelling his shows?

BTW has anyone caught that Summer Glau is currently on "The Unit"? I caught it when I watched the show last night. (I have DVR and couldn't possibly watch anything other than Firefly so now have to get caught up.) I saw her name come across the screen and just smiled. She will always be River to me.

I know how you feel - I saw the movie first and then picked up the DVDs, and limited myself to one episode a night, and near the end of the DVDs, I was trying to find a reason to delay watching OiS, because I knew there was no more after that...and then I watched Done the Impossible and had to laugh when the two teenagers said the same thing

LOL! Yeah, it was kinda depressing too though. I just felt that like there needed to be more episodes. After watching the series the second time that feeling of emptiness and dread was still there after Objects In Space ended and it still there every time I watch the series in its entirety. That one episode is like the cut-off point for the whole thing and I don’t want to reach it but its just like always gonna come about. I think a little part of me is missing and will always be because the series will forever remain incomplete. Out of all the cancelled shows I’ve enjoyed over the years, the cancellation of Firefly has gotta be the most impacting on me.

It really is amazing this show, you don’t have to be a fan of Sci Fi or even TV in general to appreciate it. I do however think that you as a person just gotta have that ‘lil something in you which allows you to not judge it and just enjoy and embrace the fact that when it comes down to it, this show is just SHINY!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site and to the ranks of the browncoats TracyLane. Glad to have you here posting with us. Make yourself at home.

Be sure to spread the joy you have found in Firefly & Serenity with everyone you know. As you have seen from your own experience, the concept can be a tough sale, but the payoff is more than worth it.

Take care and keep flyin'!
