Okay, my second thread. I was looking through each actor's profile on IMDB to see what other movies they starred in, and I noticed that Morena seems to have had a horrible streak of bad luck when it comes to her films. First Firefly was cancelled and Serenity had its share of struggles. Then there are also her episodes of Stargate which I heard were cancelled. I've also seen somewhere that one or two of her earlier films, pretty small to begin with, were cancelled. Anybody know why this is? I think this is a huge shame because she is a really beautiful nd talented actress, and I prefer her over any of they other knuckleheads in the movies anyday. She is definitely the Firefly character I'd most like to um, 'meet'.

"the Firefly character I'd most like to um, 'meet'."

Woh! Slow down there Fastmover. Morena should be viewed as a talented actress on this board and nothing more. Not as a naked midget for some sexually dysfunctional crack pot, not some golf hole to put your wrinkly little balls into, and certainly not a fantasy 'Meat' and greet. You sicko..........Woman are more than that. Now do the world a favor you pervert, superglue the erasure from a #2 pencil into your pecker-hole to ensure you never produce offspring.....Hurry!!!

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I'm not sure if Morena's episodes of SG1 aired or not. I think they did, and the show just isn't being picked up for another season. But yes, she does seem to have some tough luck. Although really, she hasn't been in the game that long.

Oh, and

Most of us are welcoming and kind. We're glad you decided to join our board and look forward to seeing you around!

Ahh... always there will be a troll, digging at people, swearing and generally trying to provoke a response. Next we'll see this one ignoring valid points while continuing to hog the thread.

It just happens to some actors you know. Take this guy Christopher Gorham, he’s a good actor but he’s been a part of so many shows two shows that Odyssey 5 and Jake 2.0.

Mal: What does that make us?
Zoe: Big Damn Heroes Sir!

Interesting that you bring this up when she was just on TV two weeks ago, guest staring on an episode of "How I Met Your Mother!"

I could be wrong, but my understanding was that Stargate wasn't canceled in the way Firefly was (yanked mid-season) so much as told that it will not get picked up for season eleven. I think that the rest of the season ten episode will air after its break, including Morena's.

After Firefly, she was casted in another Fox drama called "Still Life." I've seen a few excepts. It suffered from Chronic Bad Voice Over Syndrom, and Morena's character, though she played her well, was bor-ing. One of my livejournal friends saw the pilot as well and mentioned in to Morena at a con. She said Morena got this look in her eyes like, "no, not that!" so, I guess many its pre-airing cancelation might have been a good thing. Either way, six episodes were filmed, and as long as they were filmed, Morena was paid for them. So, that is always good.

Since then, she's had a good run of guest staring roles, uncluding reoccuring roles on the OC, Stargate, and Justic League (voice acting). She has filming a pilot for TNT (at least, I think that's the network) a medical drama show, with Treat Williams, the star of recently canceled "Everwood". If it gets picked up, we'll be seeing her back on TV as a regular very soon! I think its scheduled for... June 07?

Either way, I wouldn't say she's doing badly so much as doing... well, average.

And yes, I spend way too much time on IMDB.com and, and way too much of that time is spend seeing what out BDHs are up to.

Arcadia (aka Greyfable and/or Katie)
www.stillflying.net -- picking up Firefly were Joss left off. We will hold 'til he gets back.

HAHA Sorry if I offended anyone and thanks for the warm welcome! Inara was a beautiful character, and much of her character was based upon sexuality and seducing people, so I'm not that far off. ;) hehe

Good to hear that she's been in a few more shows lately, although it's too bad she can't get into something much bigger to really break out so far. I think what she and probably the rest of the FF cast could use is a film like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars that cast lesser-known actors with quality and really give them their chance in the spotlight.

You didn't offend anyone, FastMover... we all understand crushing a bit on one of the characters... I certainly do.

Welcome to the board.
I give new folks browncoats ( virtual ones!) like Mal's and say howdy. Usually there are some folks who come along behind me and give you something good to eat too. That may have happened where you posted before though, as I'm behind these days.

*hands FastMover a browncoat of his own*

As for being in a movie and being unknowns and getting a break: how about Serenity 2? I'd love that and I'd bet you would too.

But there you are, some great actors don't get any work at all.

Thanks again to everyone for the gracious welcomes! :) Yes, Serenity 2, and 3, would be nice for everyone, but sadly hope is rapidly fading unless something drastic is done ike a browncoat going to Universal and opening up a vein. Even that may not be enough.

At least Nathan seems to be getting more exposure now, Ron Glass has a long history in film, Alan has been in several movies, and Gina has landed more roles on network TV. Adam has also been been in two or three pretty big films as well (Full Metal Jacket, Independence Day).

Man, she is young her career is just starting. These rolls are small she is on the verge of going from starlet to big star. Next Bond film she is a first pic to be a bond girl. I would like to see her painted Gold. She is in the same class as Hedy Lamarr of the grand old studio stars. She suits the good girl fold not a bad girl but she has range to do it. Stargate she is insane on that one.

No, the Alliance starts the war, and then you volunteer.

True, although she is rapidly closing in on 30, and sadly in Hollywood once you hit 40 things can get really hard, especially for actresses. I think she would make a great Bond Girl, and she does have the exotic qualities for it. The Bond franchise ha been known to cast rising stars in the past.

I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe the stars will align again and give Morena a big break. Or she could return to the theatre.

I heard one of her theater gigs was being Natalie Portman's understudy for Mike Nichol's production of The Seagull that was performed in Central Park a few years ago. I think that's be a high point in your career. Bill Shatner once understudied for Christopher Plummer, and look what happened.

"What is that?"
"You are better at dying."

Trash talk between a Cyberman and a Dalek. It doesn't get any better than that.

Haha Thanks :) I look foarward to a lot of interesting conversations and reading here!

On a side not, it's funny how I have watched Independence Day so many times, and not recognized Jayne/Adam Baldwin as Major Mitchell, the commander of Area 51 in the end.

Don't want to jinx things but Nathan has also had bad luck.
Two guys... o.k. came on to do a guest stint and stayed for 4 years. That's not so bad.
Firefly gets cancelled.
Miss Match gets cancelled after one of 5 filmed episodes is aired.
Outing Riley doesn't seem to have gotten distribution.

This why I'm so glad about Lost and the talent holding deal.

And frankly, if they're going to do a new Indiana Jones movie, they should replace the old guy with someone tall who can do action, comedy and romance. Hey...!

Malsnara, it was this season this year, season 10. Stargate starts their season in July and ends around the end of September. Then the second half of the season starts usually the first week in January.

Morena was in two episodes that showed in the first part of season 10 - episodes: Counterstrike and The Quest part 1. We are looking forward to The Quest part 2. It should be coming the 1st of January.

I saw her in Counterstrike the other day, she looked different but i knew it was her. I had to prove to my sister that it was her though so i did a google search and got the results i wanted. If i had looked on here it would have been so much easier!
