May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This is indeed interesting and opens venues for Firefly / Serenity that did not exist only a year ago.

There is also word that Stargate SG1 will be doing a dvd of three episodes to continue the storyline that was left open when Sci Fi cancelled the show.

If Babylon 5 & Stargate SG1 are successful in this form it may very well give Joss another option for continuing our story.

I guess my mother was right, good things come to those who wait.

I just hope that they step up the quality a bit above the TNT produced movies but ten percent of nothing is, let's see..... nuthin'..... carry the nuthin'.......

At this point in time, I'll take anything I can get! Has it really been off the air that long?

Well, they had considered doing a Spike straight to DVD movie but despite the fact that the Buffy/Angel fanbase is bigger than ours, all of the major creative talents were agreeable to doing the movie and the project was well developed, they still said no - the money men didn't think it would work out.

Now I think it might be the case that the fanbases of Buffy, Angel and Firefly ought to support the B5 DVD release, if for no reason other than to show that if new material in a cult fanbase is released, it will get bought.

Will just clarify this one - Tim (Minear, slated to write/direct the feature) has since said that he didn't do the project as he went onto Drive for FOX instead. It was probably partly down to money, amongst other things.

He has recently said that the Buffy DVD may be back on the cards.

Andreas Katsulas. And Richard Biggs, who played Dr. Franklin has also passed on. (Saw a quote from JMS somewhere on the net saying something to the effect that he doesn't want to recast, so he won't be writing any stories with those characters as long as these two insist on remaining dead.) Read somewhere that there will be two movies per dvd and will have Sheridan, Tracy Scoggins' character, and the technomage Galen.

Good point SimonWho about supporting the B5 efforts as it may pay dividends on Serenity/Firefly...

I also saw a note that they are going to make another Incredible Hulk film.. now if ever there was a big blockbuster that tanked, it was that film (and I like Ang Le, so it's not that..) and here they are greenlighting another one, different director.. but throwing more cashy money at the idea.. so I think THAT too is a hopeful sign.. Serenity did respectable! I would prefer Firefly and the slow and plentiful development it might bring, but like someone said above.. I will take anything I can get!

Maybe if we can convince Fox to release the Television rights to Firefly and we can convince Universal to release the movie rights to Serenity we could get the Warner mob to do a direct to DVD TV Movie!

I'm smellin alot of "if"..

Naflm, thanks for letting me know,
Yeah I hadn`t heard the news that Richard Biggs
had passed on as well. Always loved Andreas Ketsulas as G Kar. The show had many wonderful actors. Anyways thanks again for the info!!!!

STORYMARK

Anyone seen Richard Bigg's final role - in the Special Features of Dawn of the Dead? He was the newscaster in a series of fake-news reports, in which Bruce Boxleightner cameoed as the voice of the President.

Someone on that crew was a B5 fan...

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Yeah, Richard's passing was very, very sudden. It came as a real shock to all. JMS was particularly emotional when he broke the news to the fans, more so even than his post about Andreas' death since he'd been aware that was coming for some time.

Sorry, Chindi - although the media painted HULK as a flop, it took $245m at the box office, and went on to do many times that on DVD. I think the profit margin in the end would have been upwards of $500m. It did about 3 times the business of SERENITY, if you ratio the budgets. In other words, Hulk made more than enough to warrant a sequel.
