It's very possible that it really is him. I really don't have any reason not to believe that it is. It's just not my nature to believe such things.

If it's him then good for him for getting into computery things. MySpace is pretty cool. I've gotten in touch with a few people I haven't spoken to in years with it and I probably would never have talked to them again otherwise. I'm just disappointed how commercial it's become... but then again, I remember surfing the web before there were pop up ads, let alone spyware and adware.

The government can keep all the digital fingerprints they want on me. None of it's going to matter. By the time the country's gotten bad enough for them to track down my house and come for me, I'll be far away from it, and they wont be a single step closer to me just because they have my computer.

But yeah, my anti-myspace thing is just out of a general dislike for the whole thing. I'm seriously not anti-main stream just for the hell of it: the shit seriously annoys me. I listen to the radio, and I hear this awful crap that people listen to because they're been told to, or worse, because it's just background noise for them. No care in the world for actually finding something that they like. All of that manufactured cool just seems to seep down in to what's acceptable, and the general quality of everything seems to be suffering from it. People seem more interested in having their brains numbed than in finding something that they genuinely like.

I for one take my leisure time very seriously. There's no reason on Earth why I shouldn't be enjoying myself to the fullest whenever possible. Other people, they seem to be losing sight of that, just accepting crap as the norm and letting their personalities fit in to convenience and security. Americans (among other people) are losing the fire in their bellies. Makes me sick, it does.

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

Heehee - I befriended the fake Nathan in an effort to post a comment to his site for all to see. I don't know if he hasn't gotten around to approving of it, or if some of the hostility from an earlier draft crept through (it was something along the lines of "Wait... is this real?" with a link to the REAL Nathan's profile), but my comment is nowhere to be found.

I almost think we should try to tell these people, or something, so they don't keep posting and thinking it's the real deal.

I hear ya Chris. Not sure if anybody noticed but I don't post for several days a week on either MySpace or fff.net except for on rare occasion. I never really visit them on my days off. I'm usually playing guitar all the time now. I grew up playing 40 hours of videogames a week and watching TV while I was a kid and wasted my childhood away on bs. I was a mindless zombie for a majority of the first 20 years of my life. Sure I was smart in school and got good grades, but I didn't have an original thought in my head and I sacraficed free thought for comfort and ease of living a life where you put others first so there are no arguements and I could just go back to watching TV or playing Nintendo.

I think I'm probably more prone to dislike mainstream for the sake of disliking mainstream than you are. I couldn't stand Seinfeld when everyone talked about it at high school, but I've seen a bunch of reruns years later and I loved it. I just like MySpace because I get to rant on my own blog and not in the middle of a thread that has very little to do with whatever it is I rant about. (Like now for example) Sometimes one little sentence in here can set me off, so I enjoy having a place where I can post whatever I want to without starting a flame war. (Which I can usually avoid anyways by not bringing myself down to personal insults which is always what happens).

I actually have some regular readers on MySpace too which is nice. I'd like to do more to stop some of the things that I see wrong, but I feel powerless about it most of the time. At least I can feel like maybe somebody is listening there and maybe they might spread that message.

My only real complaint, other than the fact that Big Brother can be reading all of it, is the over commercialization now since it was bought. That's why I hate popularity... everything good that becomes popular today gets commercialized, neutered and disposed of tomorrow. In a few years nobody will be using MySpace anymore and will have moved on to the next big thing.

a few months ago thats how i found out about the fake Nathan. another myspace member saw the REAL one at a convention and asked him about his myspace profile and he said he didnt have one. he was bummed that people were posing as him and misleading people. i think she went down the friends list of fake Nathan and tried to warn them. i was greatful.

unfortunately fake Nathan has like 3000 friends so going through each of them would take some time. ive seen that he hasnt had comments since October. i bet with REAL Nathan showing up has really cramped his style. but oh well, you live and learn right?

too bad REAL Nathan doesnt reply, but then he'd have a few thousand Browncoats hounding him. must be tough to be the captain.

Oh and making sure that our Captain has an impressive number of friends to point to as a marketing force. If you don't have personal, philosophical opposition to MySpace, think about joining.

I, as a close personal friend of Nathan, will post his blog

Spoilers. Spoilers.

I was mistaken for Jason Bateman again the other day. At the grocery store. It happens once in a while. Mostly when Jason is doing great- which is a lot, lately. I loved Arrested Development. Some may say I don't look like the man. This woman was the script supervisor for the Hogan Family and she thought so. So I asked her for twenty bucks, said I was strapped.
So here I am at The Shopping Center, twenty clams burning a hole in my pocket. I saw a couple movies that you just have to check out. The first, Stranger Than Fiction. If you go to this movie and cry a little bit, turn to your friend and see if she is crying, too. If no, then your friend is a cold hearted wench or a robot. Either way, you ought to stop hanging out with said Possi-Bot. (That what you call people who are possibly robots.
Casino Royale was Casino Royawesome. (You can use this term, but must credit me.) The bleeding keyhole was worked into his double O promotion, and the first chase does that thing- you know, the thing where the movie says, "We're gonna do the thing that you always see in these movies, but we're gonna do it in a way that will keep people surprised and excited. It'll be so great that a 35 year old man shouldn't feel in the least bit weird about peeing a bit in his hiking shorts." I don't know why they put in that last part, but it's probably pretty important and happens all the time to people who just aren't saying.

On both counts, great movies. Thanks, Jason Bateman.
Anyhoo, to answer some of the burning questions you've been posing:
-Yes. I think I'm going to that Flan thing in Burbank. Will it be cool? Yes.
-Serenity 2 is no where on the radar. If it is, many people are going to great lengths to hide it from me. So, no sequel. Ever? Well, I didn't think there'd be a first one. What kind of ass loses faith? Sheesh.
-Yes, I'm Bill Pardy.
-No, I do not have some kind of secretary reading your posts and emails and screening them. I want this site to have a personal touch. How does that sound, does that sound too squishy? No, don't type that, I'm asking YOU. Kevin, stop typing, you idiot. Go back and fix the "personal touch" line and then post- no, not yet. Don't you dare post that. Don't y

That was so funny...unless he has a little problem...like "I'm Bill Pardy" and Kevin from LOST DOING THE TYPING FOR HIM.

I guess it wasn't Robert from Water's Edge because Robert uses an old manual typewriter and Kevin uses a computer in LOST.

So glad he posted something else, I was thinking he might not post until a movie release or something...

Heh.... that's pretty much what I'd type if I worked for him too.

Sorry goes to Nathan if he really writes that, there are waaaaaaaay too many scams and idiots out there that make this too huge a pill to swallow. I think if Nathan had a friends page, he would probably use it to keep in touch with his friends and family and discuss his personal things with them.... an impossible task if you have thousands of "friends" reading what you post and leaving comments. Here's a homework assignment... how many times does the phrase "thanks for the add" show up on his comments? Of the Blue IPod Nano's 49743 friends, 108 of them decided to say thanks.

The first time I saw a celebrity on MySpace it was "Jack Bauer's Satchel of Doom" ( http://www.myspace.com/barbarare).... no joke.

When I clicked it, Jack Bauer was not one, but two of his friends at the same time.... There's apparently at least two Jack Bauers that look just like Kiefer Sutherland. These are just his top friends, I didn't count how many more Jack Bauers were in the satchel's friends list. Is this type of deception funny? I think it's funny as shit... especially when you see that Jack Bauer's Aviator Sunglasses has 917 friends. Is it good advertising? This is GREAT marketing! Who would have thunk 10 years ago that you could get 917 people to advertise your TV show by sporting a virtual pair of sunglasses worn by your make believe star?

There is no way that I will ever believe that this is Nathan anymore than I will believe that Mayor McCheese running for President in 2008 ( http://www.myspace.com/mccheese2008).

And there's no Santa either and you're lying to your children... shame on you. When I'm out of cash and when I've just reached that right level of toxicity in my blood, I still find myself contemplating knocking out my teeth and taking a nap so the Tooth Fairy will come and give me the cash for one more shot of Whiskey. Thanks mom... now I'm only 27 years old and I'm missing half of my teeth.

I'm such a loser. The Satchel of Doom has over 1,400 friends more than I do. Probably because I'm always right and not afraid to tell anybody about it and the satchel just plays dumb and lets people believe that it's real.

NOSADSEVEN

Hey Jack, I can't fault you your skepticism, but Nathan has participated in online interaction with his fans in the past through the official boards. Here's an archive of most of his posts to the UB, (out of context):
http://www.fireflyguidebook.com/univ-posts-nathan/univ-posts-nathan.ht
ml

(No PR person or assistant would have let that comic store post go through! And that archive doesn't include the last ten posts the day the board was shutting down where he was trying to post a picture and couldn't figure it out - again, not a professional.)

So, it doesn't seem like such a leap for him to set up a MySpace page and run it himself, especially considering James Gunn's obsession with it. And by all reports he's a gracious guy who really tries to give his fans a moment. He may have a private page as well, to keep up with friends and whatnot, but that doesn't preclude him from setting up and running a public page, specifically for fans.

Now, once he hits superstardom... yeah, I doubt he'd have that kind of personal input. But where he's at now, it just doesn't seem like a stretch. I'm confident the page is legit, based on James Gunn's vouching, so I'm going to believe him when he says he's the man behind the curtain.

Heh... I worked for a mailhouse that did a lot of political mailers..... Designed them start to finish. Tell you a little secret... none of them wrote the stuff in there. We wrote that. I myself designed a piece from start to finish with an aide before. All they do is give it a quick read and sign off on it.

I love the show, don't get me wrong... and these people were the ones who brought flesh and blood to the characters and for that I'm greatful, but that's where it ends. I wish them all well, but let's face it, these people as all actors are, are nothing more than very highly paid professional liars.

Why do you think it's not so uncommon for actors or WWF wrestlers to try their hands at politics? A whole mess of people believe that Ronald Reagan was the best president we've ever had. That's some mighty fine acting that I think Nathan could pull off one day. Lot of em forgot or never knew that he used to act in movies along a crap flinging chimp... heh... with all the negative campaigning and crap flinging they do I guess that was the next logical career step for him.

I will concede that I could be wrong about this. I'll even give it 50/50 chances that it's him. The way I see it is if I can't make a solid decision on if there is a greater power at this point in my life then you're going to be real hard up to get me to buy into much of anything that I can't even see with my own eyes.

Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Regards.....

CLICK HERE FOR AUTOGRAPH, INTERVIEW, and ANY REQUESTS

So many of you have so many requests that involve me having to do work building websites, running to the post office, or just re-arranging my social calender. So many requests I could fill my days! Well, I finally worked out a way to appease all you foks who don't read my super cool blogs and ask for stuff anyway. Just find this here site and all will be taken care of!
http://www.zombo.com/
So, the Flan thing. What a disaster. um... that it COULD have been, I mean. Now, I don't know how to arrange and organize conventions, but since the thing was cancelled, I see no reason not to be refunded. Not the airline tix, but there was no con! I sure hope you folks saved your receipts. A good rule of thumb for how long you should spend ensuring the safe return of your hard earned wages? Take the amount spent on con ticket, divide by how many hours it took you to earn it, then square that number based on principal. Don't be afraid to be versed in legalese, be sure to save all co-respondence, always be civil and polite, and don't shoot till you see the whites of their eyes.
Saw some folks at the Hilton and La Cantina that I've met across the pond, saw some new folks, too. Looks like you guys really got the short end of the stick, but you took that stick, and... well, you know the rest. Props to Clare Kramer for extending her hospitality. A tip of the hat to Sean Harry, who connected folks and orchastrated as best he could at 4 am, London time. Way cool Michael, Mark, Ron, Christina, Camden, MORENA- who wasn't even invited! That was awkward. Who told her, anyway? C'mon, guys. Loose lips and all, with the ships? It's getting really hard to ditch her. I regret I didn't meet that nice VM fellow. Next time. Thanks for all the drink offers, sorry I was a nerd and drove, so- DRINKY STINKY. (Points to anyone who gets that reference. The list will be short.) It was a different feeling, for sure. Maybe what I was feeling was the collective sigh of relief from the way out-of-towners. Maybe I was feeling the community that has come to define Browncoats time, and time again. Maybe I was feeling the hands of those two giggling drunksters who thought it would be a great idea to manhandle my ass while I'm trying to be cool and say hello to every person I could in that huge crowd. Ladies, and you know who you are, I deserve your CCR. Courtesy, consideration, and respect. That made me feel really bad. Next time, I single you out and let everyone know that you are the reason why I'm leaving early. It'd be kinda like leaving you for the Reavers. (60% Mal, you know.) Still sound like a good idea? Sheesh.
OTHERWISE, thanks for all the gifts- the book, the scarf, the space monkey, my face on a dog tag (where can I wear something like that? I'm excited to wear it- but, WHERE?) just to name some of them. Oo! And I'm drinking some fancy Harrod's Tea. Makes me want to grow a handle bar mousetache and take over India or something. Most of all, thanks for keeping it alive, Browncoats. It really shakes my tree that this little show that couldn't- somehow, still does. Crazy. You Flans are indeed the best Flans a fella could hope for.
I also told you that I'd update you on my upcoming projects (the real purpose of this site).
Waitress made into Sundance. Woo Hoo! White Noise 2 comes out sometime in Jan, I think, and earlier in the UK (that oughta make somebody happy). I have a super secret thingy in London coming up soon, and YES- I have a new job on television. Not gonna say what, just yet. But I'll be working with someone I've worked with before and you all love him. Don't ask. You will, but don't. All will be revealed!
Cheers.

If I was a groping female I'd feel pretty bad right now......

I'm sorry, it's not that I'm not listening to you. I just don't agree with you.

Nathan stated in his very first blog that the purpose of his blog is to keep his fans up to date with what's going on in his life, i.e. his professional life. He is using the forum given to him at myspace to do that. He again reiterated that in his latest blog. I do not believe sharing his messages are invading his privacy. As soon as a person writes a blog to a group of 6000 people, you may assume that his intention is not to share private thoughts, but to make a public statement. If membership to this group was limited, or with entry requirements, I would understand that the information should not be shared. In this case, I do not believe such entry requirements exist. In fact, I assume he want's to share his thoughts with as many of his fans as possible, which is why he is adding so many "friends". If not, I assume he would have made his list of friends more exclusive.

Babywiththepower, I'm not entering into an argument. (I'm still looking forward to the drink you're gonna buy me at Dragon-con), but this is my position and I do believe in the correctness thereof.

Oh to have been there to place a firm but vice like hand on their shoulders and gently remind them that if drunken frat boys were doing that to them there would have been drama aplenty so could they kindly show a little restraint and suggesting they either KNOCK IT OFF or offer to try that again in private.
(Hey, he might enjoy it there, you never know...)
How terribly embarassing for them when they're sober and see how he felt about it.

Unless he meant his coworkers..

..and now I can't get down.

I'm just confused about the part where he says that he diserves the groping ladies' Creedance Clearwater Revival. I mean, CCR is the gorram gos se, but I don't see what point he was trying to make.

I know you're not trying to start fires Canter, and I'm not one to carry animosity or disagreements from one thread to another, let alone into my life.

The point I'm making about the myspace blog is this. When you post a blog, it defaults to 'public' meaning everyone with or without a myspace page can read it. He takes the time to select 'friends only' and I'm sure our Captain is smart enough to know the difference between the two.

And true, with 6000+ friends, my argument loses something, but it then begs the question, why limit the blogs to only those on his freinds list?

You both bring up very valid points....

But seriously.... why Creedance Clearwater Revival?
