I've watched this a bunch of times (most recently today, which prompted this post), and I'm hoping my fellow Browncoats can set my mind to rest once and for all.

After telling Jubal that he doesn't have to go through with kidnapping River, does Inara say

"I know your type"
or
"I know you're tired"
?
Or something else?

Help please!

It's "I know you're tired."

You can find the episode shooting scripts here: http://www.twiztv.com/scripts/firefly/

Arcadia (aka Greyfable and/or Katie)
www.stillflying.net -- picking up Firefly were Joss left off. We will hold 'til he gets back.

Awesome! Thank you!
For some reason for the last two years I've thought it was "type" which would have been a much nervier-stupid thing to say to Jubal, and only today did it occur to me it might be tired.
Thanks!

I've always wanted to use his reply with someone:

"Don't go visiting in my intentions. Don't ever."

"Don't go visiting in my intentions. Don't ever."

Yes, I liked that one, too. A variation from a character in Amy Tam's The Kitchen God's Wife went something like "Do not trouble yourself about that on my account." A bit more polite way of saying "Butt out."

Dude, Jubal is the best. When he scares the s*** out of Kaylee that was bananas. I was like, snap, this stuff is about to get real dirty, real quick. Like, I didn't even know what to do about that, but seriously. Joss totally blew my mind. But, yeah, it was good. His whole speaking style is the reason that's my fave episode. His banter with River and the rest got me. Priceless.

Mr. Early is one of the great TV villains. I surely hope he comes back.

Yeah, just that fact that he is somewhat off his rocker makes him a more enjoyable villain. I mean if you're gonna be a bad guy, then you might as well do it in a wacky manner, right?

Of al the many great things about firefly the one that really gets me is that most of the minor characters are so memorble, with Jubal being the standout best.

Who could ever forget Saffron/Bridget/Yolanda as well. It really is hard to write a decent character who may only have 30 mins of screen time so the idea would be to concentrate on the main players. Once again Joss, I tip my hat.

I agree about all the minor badguy characters. Most of them are likeable in some way (Dobson, Badger, Niska, Jubal, Safron, Patience, even Stitch), or if not likeable, have traits that one can identify w/. As for quotes, I like Badger's whole diatribe defining Mal: "...man of honor in a den of thieves". I know it was a plot device to explain Mal's character but I thought it said a lot about Badger's perception/intellegence.

yeah, Jubal's crazy and unpredictable.....but don't you think he deserved a more intimidating gun? The little thing in his hand doesn't look too scary (yeah, I know, pain is scary). Reminds me of Will Smith's "noisy cricket" on MIB.
