Emotional disconnect is an interesting subject. I find myself quite disconnected. I have a boyfriend but only see him on weekends as he is too busy during the week for us to get together.

My two closest friends live out of state and have families to raise so we are not in touch very often. The only friend I have nearby is a busy single working mother and we don't get to see each other often. I have drifted apart from most of the friends I did have. I don't blame anyone, it just happens.

The hard part is that I find it difficult to make new friends as I get older. What is worse is that I am a loner by nature and do not mind being by myself. This can be a very damaging socially. I do have many wonderful online friends that I cherish very much but it is not quite the same is it.

You can't take the sky from me...

I beat you, then - I'm a 30FF or a 30G in UK terms depending on the manufacturer. I currently have about £170 ($300) of stuff sitting in an online shopping basket of theirs and am resolutely not going to checkout... if you can sew, you rule. It's such a useful skill.

Vinterdraken - to be 100% honest I've never seen the appeal of cybering. Granted, I've never been involved with a guy who lived a long way from me, nor have I wanted to experiment that way, but even so... a computer feels terribly *impersonal* in that situation.

Edited to add; Whimsicalnbrainpan - you and I are evidently twins separated at birth, except that I don't have a boyfriend. The times that the disconnecting thing bothers me the most are when I don't feel bothered by being disconnected... I don't know, maybe it's society bombarding us with messages that loners are unacceptable. Not nice for those of us who are that way.

Ok So I am currently wearing a skirt ( not that short about 2 inches above knee) and a boatneck sweater. I am still putting things away and cleaning my room, but it's dress for success Tuesday and we're supposed to wear office level attire. So I'm up on the shelf leaning out trying to hang something and slightly bent. One of my students( who has problems with impusiveness) blurts out " hey your panties match your skirt." So I right myself as the other boys shush him and he appologizes. I get down and start working on something else and ( I have ears like a bat and hear very well) I hear another one whisper to the first kid..." if her panties are red they match the bra" and I realize one of my bra straps is showing because my sweater's askew from all the moving things.... :embarrassed: SOOOOOO Embarrassed may need to crawl in hole! Am rushing out to purchase oversized sweatshirts, turtle necks and pants!

TRAVELER

Hi back to ya JonnyQuest.

The emotional unattachment of people. I have had to remove myself from people. When I sobered up, some of my friends would not support me. Even some of my family were less than sympathetic. My sister does not understand why I should behave in such a way, but watching people get intoxicated at Christmas is not much fun. So it goes beyond people in romantic relationships. Sometimes you need to separate from family as well. So I sit by the TV and watch Christmas movies like "The Lemon Drop Kid" and "A Christmas Story" to keep me company. So count your blessings this year.

I would discuss bras and panties, but you women are doing a pretty good job. And your more knowledgable than I. I prefer black.

Boobs: ...Double F? I've never seen natural double D's in my life. Come to think of it, it seems the FFG's (Firefly girls) are some of the most buxom to ever accumulate on the internet outside of a sex-site.

Cybering: No.
Have I done it? No.
Would I try it? No.
Would I like it? Heeell no.

Seriously. Why would I do something like that? It's like phone sex, but even less connective, because in the former, you at least have a voice to react to, rather than simply words in a chat box. I'm looking for more connection with people, not less.

Bah. Sometimes I think computer geeks really need to get out, once and a while.

Eloisa and JQ: A while back I saw a book that was featured in my book club catalogue called The Loner's Manifesto (if I remember the title correctly). It was all about how being a loner is not such a bad thing and that we are more valuable to society than most would have us believe. While I agree with that and would never want to change my loner nature it would still be nice to have someone to talk to and hang out with.

Traveler: I'm sorry about your friends and family. My family had to distance themselves from my Grandmother who is a raging alcoholic. My Mom and her sisters just couldn't watch her destroy herself anymore and said it is the bottle or us, she chose the bottle.

Whim: I'm a bit of a loner too. I've been living in this town for about four and a half years now and have had a real hard time meeting new people. Most of my friends are online (browncoats and others) and that's good to have them to chat with, but when you want to actually hang out with someone, it's not quite the same. I'm sure you can relate to this as well - just one of those many things we have in common.

LOL! Li'l Sis - I did something much worse this week myownself!! (I was in Haven at the time, so a couple of you might know this) I am house-sitting for a new client and I thought that you basically couldn't see anything from the car park at the back of the flats... so when the dog was scratching to come in, and I'd recently got out of the shower and managed to get my bra and undies on, I went to the back door and let her in... at the rather loud sound of the door scraping on the frame I realised a young, male driver (was still on 'P' plates so probably between 18-21) had turned around and was literally getting the full view - I think his jaw actually dropped!!

I was so embarassed I just had to run to the computer and tell Phoenix, Nico, Q & Silence all about it!! Thank goodness I decided to go with the lack bra and matching black undies rather than the pink undies I almost put on!!

*hugs her Li'l Sister in solidarity!*

Edit: Oh dear - now I feel like I've just hijacked the thread with my own silliness... believe me it did happen though!

Ah... where were we? Vinterdraken! Hi!! Cyber Sex... ...not so very long ago I'd have thought that there could be nothing sounding more like an oxymoron... but the power of the written word has got me hot and bothered more than once in recent times so... although I haven't, I might consider it... yeah! Why not! It would be better than nothing if it was with someone you hope to be with IRL, or better-still actually already have a relationship with then it would be enhancing, rather than substiuting for the real thing in the long run? So no - but I would seriously consider it with the right person!

Hey - I keep kissing you guys all the time, don't I? Imponderers ...see??

EDIT AGAIN: Oh yeah - FMF!! I was just wondering if I could be Lady Magdalena? I think it lends an air of dignity to me ... somehow - now that I am hanging out with Kings, Grand Visiers & ... uh... Court Jesters... and if my Li'l Sister is going to be a Duchess of Kitty Cats... welll?

Who else would be more qualitied to be the Duchess of Kitty Cats than you?

Speaking of being emotionally detached. When I was younger, I was very good at repressing my emotions. I have grown emotionally. Now when I look back on those days, I affectionately think that I was Egyptian Royalty because I was the Queen of de-Nile.

Hey, guys, thanks for been so helpful and supportive of all of the well endowed women.

I'm actually about to go do exercise things in real life, so I might not be back on. Might see all you lovely folk in a bit, though.

ELOISA

Good morning to all American Browncoats; good afternoon to all European ones; good evening/goodnight to all Asian and Oceanian (sp?) ones. Phew!

Maybe the Duchess of Kitty Cats is not in charge of cats but of organising their owners/pet humans to operate to their satisfaction?

(Completely off topic other than the reference, but, special request; if any of you US-based people live anywhere near Hiram, OH or Cleveland, OH and are considering adopting a cat, a university student on Lj is urgently trying to find homes for three or four four-month-old kittens - http://www.geocities.com/puchiko22/cats.html for a little information. Apparently the kitties will be kicked out by the weekend by their temporary foster carer if nobody wants to adopt them, and the student involved can't find a shelter to take them. I suspect any adoptees would need experience in socialising cats as they appear a little skittish. The student is insistent that they be indoor cats from now on.)

Anyway, back to impondering...

I had an odd thought the other day. Given the choice between one very nice experience and two experiences that are nearly but not quite as nice when added together - quality rather than quantity - who would go for what? I would personally rather have the one experience but was feeling very odd for doing so. Hm...

Morning all!

JQ - the catwalk is almost done. Just gotta buff out the floor so it is nice and smooth.

PR - good for you on the excersize! my main problem with that is I hate going to the gym. I would rather be home with the Fam. Man I gotta just buy some equipment of my own!

Eloisa- If only I lived close enough. Tell her to contact Best Friends http://www.bestfriends.org/ and they can get the cats and find homes and handle the skittishness and such:)

Jonny- oooh a pole. I know how those work:) Had a friend in college ( back when I majored in dance) who took a lot of classes with me and she was a stripper. She used to teach us stuff before class started. It was so much fun. We even went to her club and "tried out"( only without the actual clothing removal, just the dancing)for her boss.

OK so what shall we ponder today? We were talking about first kisses earlier, so how about first love??

No serious details or anything. First love was the boy who lived down the street ( turned into an Army Ranger. We're still friends and he's the greates guy:)

RIVERISMYGODDESS

mornin' Imponderables.

Got a bit of a late start on the threads today, and leaving early, so I am going to make the most of the time I have. I'll try to sum up from what I have read, which was very amusing and entertaining.

Breasts - I know they are heavy for you gals, but lots of fun for us (not to mention useful for nourishing young). I understand the 'unfortunate' claim MSG, and as my brother says, "More than a mouth and a hand full is too much"

Wardrobe Malfunction (no, I am not picking on you MSG, just happens to also be from you) - I wish I had teachers in my middle/high school who were half as attractive as you are. I think all the old teachers go to Columbus to finish out their careers before they die. There might have been one in all six years, but she never dressed as you do. :)

Cybersex - I have done it, and it can be fun, when it is the only option. Typing out sounds like 'ooh' 'aah' 'that's the spot' etc is silly, but writing longish descriptions of actions is good. A bit like interactive erotica, which a lot of people like to read. Phone sex is definitely a step up because the voice definitely adds a lot to it.

EDIT: First love - girl I met through DeMolay (junior Masons, in a way). One time she called and professed her love for me in return, then a month later called to tell me how she had been drinking and smoking and to tell me that she had lost her virginity the previous night. Huh. She also had a thing for my brother.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Back for a moment. Yep, I have stuff of my own to work out with; namely a heavy bag in the basement. Thought about taking my camera down there and trying to get some action shots. Maybe some other time.
First love? Like, real love non-crush love serious do anything for them love? That would be my former best friend. Looking back on it, I'm not sure why I loved her so much for so long. It kind of seemed to define out relationship for a long time though, because I was so devoted to her and she got used to that, but that crazy devotion faded after about five years (hey, the heart can only take so much unrequited-ness) and oddly that's when we stopped being such good friends. A year or two later is when we stopped speaking entirely. Very sad in a lot of ways.
Well, I suppose I should make the drive to work and pick up my check. I don't wanna. I've got enough cash for the moment and driving out there is such a pain, but I gotta do it sometime.

Not working tonight, or I would. 'Sides, the bank is right next to work, so it's best to go when they're open too, or I have to make two trips. I'll try to be quick

Gar, not enough time for a thorough post, so I will just say this:

Fisrt Love: nothing as of yet. Not had a first love either. (damn my awful typing)

Has FMF gone? drat. I wanted a title.

DTH, hope you feel better soon.

Apparantly, Stripping and pole-dancing is supposed to be a really good workout.

I have just about had it with poo teachers, I really have. MSG, fancy moving to Cheshire, UK?
Ohh, BTW, MSG, thanks for the advice on my blog, I have some lemons for next Saturday.

But, my day got balanced out, because I got an interview for the college I want to go to! And, The Macho Flirter (as he shall now be known), got me invited to a mutual friend's party! Score!

and now, finishing with my new found sign smileys, I shall say to you:

TRISTAN

Are we stable?
*looking around nervously*
I have not been able to post much today...it freezes, and I lose everything...

Ok, let's see if this works...

Hello to all I have missed!

MSG...first love...hmm.
I guess the first thing I thought was love happened in middle school. I dated a girl for two years, we were as serious as you could be at that age...and my heart hurt when she and I broke up.
The first love when I knew what was going on did not happen until college, though. Oddly enough, it is a case of un-consumated love, so I am not entirely sure y'all would count that. I met her in the Drama department, we became fast friends and worked well together on several shows with her as stage manager and me as assistant, and I also directed her in her first on-stage role. She was a daily inspiration to me, and I was one for her as well. Somewhere in there, we fell in love with each other...mine was probably stronger than hers. Our world views were just different enough that we probably would not have lasted very long as a couple. She ended up marrying one of my very close friends. I still love her and she still loves me, but we were not "destined" to be together. We're still in touch every now and then, and she is the one person I would drop everything in the world for.
So, does that count? First real love is still a love in my heart and mind?
