Well, I think you should sleep for sleep's sake. You don't need no stinkin' "beauty" sleep! You shine like the sun, sweet cheeks! (cf. other thread)

Yay, Tristan! We were just discussing if we should send Early or the Operative to find you. Real life sucks when it cuts in on our time. I'm finding that I'm cutting into waaay too much real time to be here. Sigh. Moral dilemma of the highest order.

mornin Imponderables.

CMH - Molly Hatchet is great, and finding music that is too white-trash for me is probably hard, though along those lines I do have a very broad yet eclectic taste in music.

I always miss all of you, at least until later in the day (though PR and Magda could be on at the moment, it is their time of day).

hmmmmm... Xenophon...

Wasn't he a student of Sophocles? or a follower? I think he's the one who visited the Oracle of Delphi and asked the wrong question - he should have asked how to avoid going to war in Persia but he asked which god to pray to for safety on the campaign instead. That bit I remember! I know he wrote a history of the times and later Alexander the Great used this as a kind of map...

Or are we talking about something totally different? Like a beautiful horse or something Rugbug?

...and thank you so much JohnnyQuest! I'm loving the compliments! you've made my day!

RIMG! ... or should I call you ah... no - no cocktail-names eh? yes - we're about!

Madga - you can call me whatever you like dear lady, the coctail names included

Nico (and James) - I tend to forget what parts of the world everyone is from when I have had less than 3 hours of sleep before work. In my ideal world you all live just down the street, only there is a guard at the gate and I cannot visit you anyhow, or something like that. My analogy needs work.

EDIT: Yes James, that is definitely something that we will all be envious of for a decent bit.

Yes - the Aussies are known for their tenacity - they excell at sports - despite having a fraction of the population of other high-ranking sporting nations... and their men are always sweeping women off their feet in far off place...

Of course that explains why I am still single and living in Australia... wondering where all the men are... off, overseas... *sigh* half way around the world...

Mind you - Nico has terrific taste! He chose my Mei Mei!

If'n it makes you feel any better, I would come visit you if I could. I do recall seeing something about you coming to D*C this year (still 300ish days away, but never too soon to talk about it) so maybe you will make the aquaintence of a shiny US Browncoat boy for yourself there.

Eek! Smart folk. It's so long since I did my Greek military history...

When this thread began...dressing cats is wrong. As in hazardous and demented. Even attempting to brush ours is like sticking your hand in a blender. We do not do flea collars, we use drops. And it takes two adults to subdue one cat. I leave you to imagine the epic struggle of THE WORMING PILL.

Some people think you can put cats on a lead and walk them. WTF? Only if the damn thing is drugged to the little kitty eyeballs. Or stuffed.

On horses. I used to work at an agricultural college. Saying that I would rather eat one than ride one didn't go down so well. (Sorry to you horsy folk - I was being hassled by pro-hunting loons at the time.) Actually, I can ride - as a medievalist and a writer, I like to try and experience as much as I can for research purposes. I may be contacting some of you gun experts and survivalists for some info...

We have a cat that is half Mainecoon (wildcat) and it took one vet, two assistants, and me to hold her just to clip her claws. Pill time (and bath time, if they ever get flea infestation [has only happened twice]) is no fun at all. Were I not sure a fast healer I would have loads of scars on my forearms to back up that assesment.

awwww.... thank you RIMG... And as for D*C next year - all those browncoat boys... here's hoping eh? Surely one would take a shine to me...

Your cat sounds like fun! I have occassionally had to house-sit with a slightly deranged cat... wasn't fun at all if she didn't concur with my plans!

SpaceANGL!! I haven't seen you for ages!!!! How's life for the wonderful author and medievalist? I've been reading Ellis Peters again and I thought of you!... oh and although I think I'm on the right track with Xenophon I might be off a little - it's a long time since I did any Ancient Greek studies too... but for some reason it was Alexander the Great using his writings that came to mind and i joined the dots from there...

Well, I'm one Browncoat boy who will be there (I can think of a few others offhand as well, including the swai Tristan who makes all you ladies swoon) and I have already taken a shine to ya.

We have actually had the cops called on us due to the cat, as when she gets upset/threatened, she howls very loudly, somewhat scarily even. They didn't even want to go in the room she was in, even though we had gotten her into the cage. Fun times.

... ah OK - your cat story beats my cat story any day! I thought it was bad enough that this cat would roam the house full of polished floorboards but always chose to cough up furballs on the only silk rug... among other things - but I don't think I want to go there if you have a renegade-Police-scaring wild cat!

Well - I'm probably going to bed now... might pop back when I've got the dog settled for the night - but if not... goodnight imponderers!

Nothin' wrong with you gettin' an ego, especially when it is justified.

Not only is she a delinquent, but the cat is a racist. She does not like black or hispanic people, and gets upset much more easily around them. Ironically enough, it was a black cop that came in to look around.

Have a good sleep, and a good weekend. It was good talking with you in Haven last night.

Morning, all!

NVG, sorry I missed you! :hugs: I should be on a little more today, I hope!

Magda, RL sucks. Well, sometimes. Yesterday was just far too busy. And I agree with JQ...you do not need beauty sleep, qing ren!

JQ, I'm glad I came back, then! I would not want either Early or the Operative to say "Oh, there you are"!

RugBug, are you talking about Xenophon the Greek? I don't know too much about him without Yahoo-ing him, but something about horses, I am sure!

CMH, I'll throw my two credits in here, too...I live in Alabama. Generally, my choices are country or Southern rock. I grew up hearing 60's and 70's rock, so you can imagine which I prefer!

Nico, you are a tough individual to forget.

RIMG, I sometimes feel the same way. All of you are together somewhere chatting, and I am stuck at work...but no one is more than 5 miles away...but that's my perfect world!

Hey, Magda...Aussie women get swept off their feet? Wow...I might have to give that a try! *shining*

SpaceAnJL! Where have you been? Or, have you been here, and I just keep missing you? Either way, hello! Gun advice? I can be one you call on if necessary, but there are more qualified individuals in here.

RIMG, you sure you didn't have a Bobcat as a pet?
And thank you for the ego boost! I needed that!

Off for coffee and then work. I'll be on more today, I hope...it's Friday and people are leaving early today.

Mavourneen, I was under the impression that you knew you were the first person I thought of...but I did not want to disturb you by hopelessly gushing on about how much I missed seeing you and talking to you.

Ok, I'm sorry....I forgot a number of people. I love each and every one of you, y'all should know that by now...and at my age, things start slipping my mind...I think they do, anyway...

I have missed being in here and chatting with everyone. It seems to be happening more and more often that RL is dragging me away from here, and I don't like that!

Oh, by the way, Mavourneen, seeing your words and looking at your Zoe tag...I could see that expression on your face (the one with the gun)...

Morning all,

And how is everyone on this fine morning ?Dylan is sick again ,up all night coughing.Looks like we're off to the pediatrician today.

Magda -are we finally here at the same time ?

I had a huge 16 pound fluffy white kitty that you could walk on a leash. I think he thought he was a dog, 'cause he was friendly like one too.It truly was a sight to see. .
And all 9 had fleas once.. if not for my husband my face would have a huge scar across it.

Ah hah! I snuck back in and my suspicions are confirmed! The moment I say I'm off to bed you all come out and play!!

Hello everyone! I just got the dog happy and got ready for bed and I thought I might say one last goodnight - then there you all are pretending to miss me...

Hello dearest Mavourneen - thank you for the lament - it sounds genuine so I'll have to believe you I did hope my message about Gallahs would help Carson a little - I know it's getting colder there than it usually does here - but then we do have snow up in the mountains and I am sure I've seen cocatiels up there too... give him a hug for me!

Oh, Tristan Qing ren!... you know all the girls swoon over you! Well... I do anyway!

RIMG still blushing... but I forgot to mention that the cat's best trick was getting under the couch and attacking my ankles with her claws when I didn't even realise she was in the room... not racist - just mean! I was the one feeding her after all!:disappinted: ... and forgive my Austrlian ignorance... but what's a GS-11? (sounds like a Sci Fi show!)

Hello Gorgeous Little Albatross! - are you the mother of healthier children than when I last caught up? I am sending get well vibes to your Dylan and my 2 boys are sending them 'letters' too! Matthew turns 7 tomorrow!!!

I must admit that when I was writing about Xenophon I hadn't read all of the posts properly - so I didn;t realise that Alexander the Great or horses where already mentioned and I feel like a bit of a dill to be honest - but then it's 2am here in Australia... forgive me?

sorry everyone else I haven't mentioned - JohnnyQ, MsG (hugs li'l sis!), oh just everyone - including my delicious mei mei!

...and now I am really saying 'goodnight'... honestly... I am...

I actually say that at my restaurant job when the phone rings or anything else that they are not paying me $2.13/hour to do needs doing (except trash duty, because that means smoke break, and usually I volunteer to help the cooks in order to get one). Most folks laugh, as this is a military town due to the base and they get it.

LOL @ Sci-Fi show.

GS scale is US military civilian pay scale, ranging from GS-01 to GS-15 (though we are getting rid of it soon here). I am in a program that is automatic promotions as I learn, starting as a GS-07, moving up to 09 and 11 then finally 12 when I am considered a permanent employee.

Mornin' all.

Tristan, it's good to see you back.

Magda - I too am sorry that you are going to bed as the rest of the world wakes up. You're always gone by the time us west coasters get on.

Yes, that's the Xenophon of which we speak. The "map" Alexander the Great used was 'Anabasis' and is considered a text that outlined how to be a great military leader. 'Course that's not really the stuff I'm interested in. That would be the horse stuff. He wrote what's considered to be the first book on choosing, keeping, grooming and training a horse called 'On Horsemanship,' much of which is still put into practice today. Not bad for a man that lived circa 300 B.C.

Speaking of west coasters: We haven't seen California Kaylee in a while. Hope she's doing well....

This is for penguin:

I think Carson is adjusting to life without the bird. He is getting better, and we discussed this morning how maybe Hope had found some birdy friends and maybe a birdy boyfriend and wished her well.
Behind the scenes, Husband & I have contacted animal control & the local cockatiel rescue groups. Unfortunately, we don't have much hope she will return...

First real kiss? Happened in a movie theatre, we were watching Dead Man on Campus (I think, don't remember much of it though). Had my arm around her, fingers brushing her sexy tummy, and she just turned up to me and let me have it, full force, tongue and all. Probably lasted a good five minutes. Repeated sessions were just as good, as she was an excellent kisser, and I became better because of her.

Really? I just flip my cat over on her back and start clipping away. She doesn't even squirm.

The worst she has ever been is when I had to give her ear drops. She fussed a bit, but after a while she just got used to it in her routine and stopped fighting. Though the second I stood up she'd always run off and shake her head around.

So, first real kiss huh? I would have to say I actually can't remember. I can remember my first kiss with the ex so I'll have to say that one. I think that was the one that meant the most. It was actually the way I gauge all kisses following. Warm, close, and nothing but love. All or nothing.

First kiss was back in the early 80's, and I was a flag twirler in a local drum & flag corps that did parades & competitions. Geez.
He was a drummer, a little older than me. Think his name was Scott, and I remember he liked Ozzy Osborne!
Not a memorable kiss, no real fireworks.

Hi NV, DTH, Kel, and anyone else!

I just cut out the image I wanted in MS Paint, then used Serif Draw Plus to resize it. You could use any image editing software though. Try www.gimp.org - they have a free one that's a lot better than mine! Geekmafia uses it. I would too if my laptop was connected to the 'net.

Oh on the first kiss thing. I can remember it sorta. Not like the actual kiss portion, but I remember the situation and the girl and all.

Hey Mavs! how you doing?

Hey NVG hows it going/

First kiss...... Don't remember it too much. Was kinda shy as a child. Not to mention I don't tend to kiss and tell.

RUGBUG

I remember kissing this boy named David behind the fence of the cabbage field. I was much too young to be kissing anyone. We moved from that apartment when I was 11, but the cabbage field was replaced with tract homes long before that. I was maybe 6 or 7? eesh.

First real kiss was at camp with this really cute boy named Scott. But, sadly, I didn't want to be kissing him. I wanted to be kissing Jason, who's friend Roy wanted to be kissing me. Let me tell you, it was quite the week. Hahahaaa. And I'm not really sure why I was kissing a boy I didn't want to be kissing. I learned later not to do that.
