RABBAN

Let me begin by saying I hated Buffy and Angel. Although I wouldn't class them as great shows they were better than much of the crap out there. (So that tells you what I think of most of the programming)

To say I was hesitant of any Joss Whedon project would be an understatement. But hey! I was bored and sitting at Virctory Base Iraq and wanted some scifi to watch and saw a copy of Serenity sitting on the shelf. Some soldier walked by and muttered "good." under their breath so I picked it up...

The rest is... the rest. But suffice it to say I'm here. and I won't go away. When you can't walk you crawl, and when you can't crawl get one of your friends to carry you.

Damn right you're not alone.

Welcome to the 'verse.

But beware, Reavers, Alliance Purplebellies, dodgy businessmen, nasty bounty hunters and just plain ornery folk too fond of violence abound.

Lucky you've got good folk like us, no?

SERENITYSEEKER

Welcome home Rabban. Never, in all the 'Verse, will ya find a group more inviting and caring than the Browncoats here. Someone should be along soon to hand out a browncoat and some mudder's milk to ya soon, so kick off your boots and relax. This is where ya belong.

Keep flyin'.

Well.. I 'preciate that. Named my 1993 Range Rover "Jayne" and tried (unsucessfully) to get my wife to name her new puppy Kaylee.

Don't know what it is about the show. Maybe it's because it's a crew full of smartasses. Maybe it's because the ship has a personality. Maybe it's because I've always liked westerns and scifi. Whatever the reason. I'm up on a fansite and I never have been before. and would do anything to resurect "Firefly".

Res ipsa loquitur

How weird is that!

When VerseExplorer says, there's always someone around, that's serious. The sun never sets on Firefly fans. When we in North America finally toddle off to bed, the other side of the world starts reading. You've got friends all over now.

ERGASTER

Hey--want to say hello to you all, I'm new here too (signed up about five minutes ago after guesting on and off for a few months).

I'm one of those who discovered Serenity/Firefly completely by accident. It was basically "Oh look, new batch of movies on the satellite, let's check out this 'Serenity' thing".

Two hours later (well, not quite so long since I missed the first fifteen minutes) I was sitting there with my jaw in my lap going "What the HELL was that???"

I had no clue it was Whedon (I was never much of a Buffy fan anyway; I liked it but not enough to make a point of looking for it), and had only vaguely heard rumours of some short-lived show called Firefly that people did seem to like a lot, but I didn't make the connection for quite a while.

All I knew was the movie blew my socks off. I hadn't been so excited by a movie for years and years.

The rest, as they say, is history. Watched the movie a stack of times, bought the series, love the series too and can't believe it didn't last (FOX definitely wins the Stupidest Decision By A Network Award for that one!). As an old fart I remember the excitement of the original Star Trek (did I say I was an old fart?) and I feel extraordinarily lucky to have experienced that amazement at a tv show *twice* in a lifetime.

They don't come along too often.

If all is not lost, where is it?

FLORALBUNNY

Welcome home to
Rabban (#23396) and Ergaster (#23402)
It's right shiny to have the both of you
aboard our cozy ship.

Please, each of you, have a dish of these
fine, juicy strawberries and a mug of Mudder's
Milk. RMMC is in charge of the Tullimore Dew
so we'll have to ask her for a ration.

Then it's up to the galley to question the
buffet, which is always stocked with the best
goodies we can find in the 'Verse -- or very
good imitations thereof, thanks to some expert
chefs.

If you're offered a virtual browncoat, do not
hesitate to accept it. The fit is always perfect.

Please try not to step on ShipsCat or into her
dish. ::-)

Go now and vote for Firefly as best TV show. We
were doing well until the Xenites banded together
to skew the totals.

And please visit the Caption threads. We need
new blood!

Share your Firefly/Serenity love with those who
never heard of it.

DONCOAT

Rabban and Ergaster,

Since FollowMal has been delayed (ruttin' Alliance checkpoints) I'd like to offer you your choice of Browncoats from my humble recycling shop.

They may not fit as well as a brand-new coat, and I've done my best to get the stains out and patch up the worn spots. If you'd prefer to hold out for a fresh-smelling, newly-tanned 'coat, I won't be offended.

On the other hand, these previously-loved coats can be pretty comfy. And if you ever trade up, just drop these off in the storeroom so the next new recruit can use it.

Welcome aboard!

I'm pointin' right at it!
