The holidays, though they are still some time off, are approaching, it seems, and in a fit of foresight, I started my holiday shopping yesterday.

Now, there is a store I frequent that specializes in objects both shiny and sharp. Well, it seems that one of their older swords, one that nobody apparently had any interest in, rather abruptly caught my eye.

Sure enough, they had a replica of the Operative's sword, complete with harness. It didn't take me long to realize that there would be no better home for this blade than the home of one of the two friends (the one that didn't move all the way across the US) who were directly responsible for my slipping into the ranks of the browncoats.

So, with luck he won't be reading this, else the surprise be tarnished, but this seemed a tale worthy of posting.

However, herein lies the trick...2 months of not asking him...

"Do you know what your gift is?"

Just something I thought I'd share...

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

Wow. That is so cool! Your friend should go crazy when he gets it.

And, yeah... you'd better not ask him that question.

Ironically, yesterday, the same day during which I snagged the sword, the owners of the sword shop, who I've known for some time, in turn let me talk them into ordering their Firefly set now that they'd seen Serenity

Is this not just shiny in all ways possible?

What's the name of the store?

How many Jaynes does it take to change a light bulb?

Two. One to try to put it in and another to find a bigger hammer.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

More importantly, what's the name of the sword and what company makes it???

If you're a forgettful person, you've got nothing to worry about. Just put the sword in a place you know you won't get at until around Christmas, and simply let the fact that you even have it slip out of your mind. It works for me all the time. Kinda like a squirell in that sense.

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

Hmmm...is it wise to use the words "sword", "slip", and "squirell" in the same sentence?

Together they do bring about some interesting mental images...

I found this somewhere, and it's stuck in my favorites, but I think I found another somewhere else - I just can't find it!

Very close, without the cutouts and in a black finish, but very much the same design, wouldn't surprise me if the one I bought is also a Bud K, probably from the same series
