Grits sound good Kelkhil, so long as you have cheese, salt, butter, and/or some pig derivative to put on them.

I am a whiskey drinker as well, and though I prefer Single Malt Scotch and Tenessee Whiskey, I will drink any of it (bourbon and Irish Whiskey are up there on the list too).

I'm not really a huge whiskey drinker. I'm more of a vodka girl. Or rum, since I haven't had any scary experiences with it Pretty much anything that can be poured into a fizzy drink of some kind. Terrible, I know...

I love cocktails too. Especially sweet ones!

In case you want some more whiskey options that coincide with your tastes:

bourbon (or Jack) and Coke
Manhattan - bourbon, sweet vermouth, and cherry (martini style)
Mint Julip - bourbon, mint leaves, and sugar

A thousand apologies if you are already familiar with / not a fan of these drinks.

No problem LA29, strawberies will be fully stocked tonight. Can't run a Pub and be short of fixings for a regular customer

DTH - yes I did see you post about working tonight.

So did anyone watch 20/20 last night? Barbra Walters interviewed Terry Irwin. It was a very good interview.

No need to apoligise, RiverIsMyGoddess! I'm in no way offended. I'm kinda familiar with those drinks, but haven't tried most of them. I've occasionally had whiskey and coke, but only sometimes. I really should tried the others.

My Granddad used to adore whiskey with hot water, brown sugar and lemon.

EDIT - So you were TEASING ME Kel!!! Just remember I have videotape of you and JonnyQuest singing karaoke!

That reminds me of one of my favorite home remedies of all time. Equal parts whiskey, lemon juice, and honey, heated a little to melt/dissolve the honey. It is the best thing in the world for a sore throat. Warms the insides too, and gives a nice little buzz that is just right.

I've never actually had a mint julep, though it is one of the signature drinks of my part of the country. I plan to remedy that someday soon, unless I forget to.

RIMG, that sounds suspiciously like a home remedy my family likes to use...and we call it a "Hot Toddy"...not sure why, but it may have something to do with it being a hot drink (duh) that makes you toddle away after drinking it...

PINT IN MOTION...GOING DOWN MY THROAT LIKE A CAR ON A HIGHWAY! Fast!

Today has been an interesting day:

I first came to the office, work for about 1 hour, then met with a rep at a bank to stop direct payment because we are selling our old home and there is no need for future direct withdrawals...a VERY nice person. Then I went to by the bank to close my account because they were just making me feel like ...Then I came back to the office to meet the screw up movers who messed up my move into my new house...they brough me back a cabinet that they couldn't fixed and they are going to give me a "credit" for all the mess, broken things they had during my move to the new house...

Then I met the carpet guy that came to measure the stairs for a runner...(Johnyquest, my dogs nails are damaging my wood...) then I went to Best Buy and bought Lost Season 2, X- Files season 5 and 6 and X Files The Movie...and then just there...Firefly...so close, so beautiful, so deliciously inviting...can not wait to give it to my friends as christmas gifts...I am buying 10 of them to give away...maybe even inviting them to join the club!!!

So that is my day...please pass another pint, a shot of tequila, a jello shot, a sex on the beach double and topped with a Jhonnie Walker with pineapple,a screwdriver and grasshopper with lemonade and a bag of pretzels...another one please...or potatoe chips will do...Oh and I forgot a Cubalibre double drink to make it all even.

Thanks bartender...charge it to my Alliance card...

STINKINGROSE

YOU'VE NEVER HAD A S'MORE?!!???!

Light the pyre!

The legend of the s'more:
It was invented on camping trips, probably by girlscouts, because that's usually everyone's introduction to them. Boyscouts don't seem to get as into it. Possibly because they get distracted by the flaming marshmallows. Incendiary cooking, you know.

Take a stick, poke a marshmallow on the skinny end.
Get out your graham crackers (one for top, one for bottom) and place a slab of chocolate on one of them. (Hershey's*TM is the traditonal candy, but you do not have to lower yourself to that depth if you are used to good chocolate. The point is that it should melt into an ooey gooey sludge)
Place marshmallow in/near fire.
There is the toasted to perfection school, and then there is the burnt bits school.
If you've never seen a marshmallow burning like a volcanic event it is worth a try.
Once the marshmallow is suitably gloopy (running back down the stick at you) you quickly and deftly place it between the two crackers and slide it off the stick. Burns are not uncommon, but most people learn quickly.
Give the chocolate a few seconds to melt and for the wodge to cool down.
Eeeaaaatt, eeeaaattt, EAT!!

You can reach an approximation using the microwave, but it's not the same. Watching the marshmallow get all big and puffy is something to be seen at least once in your life as well.

Thus ends the legend of the S'more.
Where'd I put that bag of Jet-Puffs?

So while you lot are all off sleeping, or working, I guess it's down to me to look after the place. By look after, I mean drink all the booze, eat all the food and play songs on the jukebox at high enough volumes to make my ears bleed.

Time for some Dead Kennedys methinks.

*yawn* well that was refreshing... now what the hell is wrong with being in and out all night Tristan? I don't know what all the fuss is about? *looks wide eyed and innocent* Ah - and another thing about vodka to add to the list - I have never had a hang-over yet... so stock up OK?

Ooooh - Nico! Hi - do you have any 'Augie March' or 'Thirsty Merc' in that jukebox - it's time we introduced a few more of my current fave's to this lot... and will you or I tell them that we don't have Graham's Crackers in Australia?

I do, however, have a good friend who's from Nth Carolina originally and on one trip she brought back all the authentic US ingredients and we made smore's by her open fireplace... we were going to go outside but it was raining! Twas great fun! So anyone coming to visit must do the same for us!

Ah - yes - Irish coffee to start the day my fine friend! ... thankee kindly!
