So I've been lurking around here from time to time for quite some time now. Finally I decided to actually join up and talk to you fine people. Some might already have bumbed into me in the "Firefly and Serenity Guerilla Marketing" section. But I thought, a proper introduction should be made.

So Hay, I'm Dana *shakes hands with everyone* and this is my tiny little story about little old me.

For years I've been a hardcore Buffy fan. I can't really remember for how many years now.. Back when the news was given to us that Buffy was ending, alot of blame was put on Firefly for this. We didn't feel Joss cared for Buffy anymore, instead he just cared about this thing called Firefly.

Out of principals I actually didn't watch the show for a long time. I was so angry at the whole thing so I didn't want anything to do with it (shame on me!). But then, during 2004 I began to run into more and more things relating to Firefly while browsing Buffy news sites. I finally broke down and asked for the DVDs for x-mas/my birthday (just 6 days apart, who cared which day I got 'em ;)). So anyway, I finally got them and I decided to sit down and watch.

I was hooked..

I got my mom into it (she's very easy to get into things I like. Like me, she's a huge Buffy fan as well :)) and I tried getting my brother there as well, but he's got the attentionspan of a camel. Tell him it's anime and he's there. Tell him it's a regular show with 15 episodes à 42min and he hides.

I was jumping for joy when on December 13 I finally got to see Serenity in the movies. I remember it so well. We were 5 people in the audience (which really shows that Sweden isn't aware of Firefly) and the two guys sitting behind me and my mom was talking about the show before the movie started. One of them had seen it and the other hadn't, so the first one tried to explain to the other one about the show, thing is.. he really didn't know the show at all. Got things mixed up and.. well, I ended up laughing pretty hard at his confusion
And then the movie started. When Serenity first appeared on screen, I can tell you the truth that I really teared up due to such happiness that it was finally here, I got to see it!

A few weeks ago I finally got my 'Done the Impossible' DVD and CD (which is being played pretty much 24/7) and I've become even more obsessed after that (didn't think it was possible *lol*)

I guess my über Browncoatyness has sneaked up on me without me realising it really. Now I try to do all I can to help contribute to the campaign of the big damn trilogy.

On a more personal note. I'm a 23 year old gal working in a very small hotell in a town called Lund, but I live in Malmö. Of course these places are located in Sweden. I also have a passion for websites and naturally have a domain of my own - Dana.TheDudes.Nu - where you'll find all kinds of sites.

Big dream of mine is getting my driverslicence and then heading off to the states and spend between 6months and 1 year just driving through the country and see as much as possible.

So that's me.. and alot of rambling (which I tend to do)

Hay ho!
Well, I guess looking back now, I was more angry at the fact that Buffy was over and that the series finally made me look at my mom and go 'huh?' when the last scene was over.. But I'm happy I got around to getting Firefly so I could discover this amazing world of Browncoats and Allianse :)

I thank thee, and might just pick you up on that! :)

I'll see what I can do, who know, I might just do that. I'll bring some shiny snacks with me

Yeah, I saw your thread and was meaning to post a reply, got distracted by the video editing though ;) I have a feeling that this group will never stop growing or start to shrink!

Hello TheDana...

Welcome to the Wild World of Whedon... great to have you here.
That's a very shiny website you have there. Pretty, pretty pictures.

I don't think I've had the pleasure of speaking online to anyone from Sweden. Being from the vasty nothingness that is Texas, it's very refreshing to think of your beautiful country. I know very little about Sweden, but I've read that Malmo is a particularly lovely city.

Remind me how you tell the difference between the 5 kronor and the 10 kronor....? (that's an old Seinfeld joke...sorry)

See you around the board..

Hi ho, Dana! It's right shiny to have you on the crew. The coat looks great on you.

If you've been here a while you've probably been offered the traditional strawberries and Mudder's Milk, but there are some here on the ramp just in case you missed out on them.

When I visited Sweden I often felt as if I was in the U. S., in Minnesota, so if you come here you may experience the reverse if you visit Minnesota. The countrysides are very much alike.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site and the ranks of the browncoats Dana! Glad to have you here with us. Pull up some virtual space and make yourself at home.

Thanks for sharing your story. We love to read how new people found the 'verse and got hooked like the rest of us.

I had heard that a lot of Buffy fans harbored some resentment towards Firefly, feeling abandoned by Joss and all. I am glad that you gave it a chance. I hope that you will help spread the word online and to everyone you know about the movie and show.

Take care and keep flyin'!

There's no way to be up on the times, if you weren't in the thread.

It's ok, I just appreciate the help looking out for folks. Tellin' 'em hi and saying that someone will be along means a lot. I remember when I was new, I just dove right in, but there were folks who said hi and made me feel at home.
I've never forgotten that.

So.. keep right on reminding folks I'll be along.
Or DonCoat will be along. Someone will be along with a 'coat or a bowl of strawberries and they'll belong to our family.

Why thank you, and I must say, that's the best www version I've ever heard!

I thank thee as well for the purty picture remark

Sweden isn't that very special, and I don't recommend taking a vacation in Malmö. It's just like any other boring city, it's just located in the south of Sweden. I'd recommend Copenhagen in Denmark or Stockholm here in Sweden, much more to see! (although, I don't live there so you'd be missing out on me ;))

Well, ones a 5 and ones a 10 ;)

Actually have gotten any strawberry or mudder's milk so I thank thee! looks real tasty *takes a whiff of the strawberrys* now that there is some nice smelling strawberry's. Cheers mate! *drinks some mudder's milk*

I guess that's why movies never are filmed on location, you can always find a clone-country

Thank you, I'm glad to be here. First time outside a Buffy forum, I feel very brave I'm glad to find a home for my browncoat within!

Yeah, the abandonment was a big reason alot of Buffy fans didn't want anything to do with Firefly. I'm glad I came to my sences and gave the show a chance because I definitly don't regret it. I'm really happy I did and it gave me a chance to meet all you fine folk here as well!

I'm doing my best to help, even bending people's arms and legs at other buffy forums to get their attention on Firefly, have actually been successfull in some cases. Oh and of course, I'm working on the whole banners and layouts thingies

Thank you

I actually did, I've been nagging him about the show for more than a year. I got him to watch half (until Our Mrs Reynolds) and then he didn't bother to continue. I'm strongly considering throwing my boxset after him
