Okay, so my grandfather and his wife just came into town yesterday. Well, we went out to lunch at wendy's, and my friend Megan (Nakladane) works there. I mentioned that next week is spirit week, and on Twin Day we're going to wear the Jayne hat she's made me and is working on for herself. Naturally, my granddad's wife (Mrs. Doris)asked me just what a Jayne hat was.

Well, when we got home, I ran up to my room, put it on, and ran to my computer to get The Message up and running to the part with the Jayne hat. I started it when Jayne comes up to Mal with the money, and ended right before the opening credits started rolling (btw, she bursted out laughing at Jayne's line "What'd ya'll order a dead guy for?").

That's when mrs. Doris said to me, "Hey, that's that show!" I thought she was mentioning the fact that I had brought it over to their hosue this summer when I visited, 'cause she had seen part of Bushwacked. Back then, she hadn't seemed to like it much, but she sounded... excited, almost. So I nodded with a smile and said, "Firefly."

What she said next really got me - and proved I was wrong with my initial thought. "Yeah, that's it! I've seen it on the television a few times!"

It couldn't have been the marathon on sci-fi, because... well... they have no cable. Is Firefly on a non-cable channel, perhaps? Anybody know for sure?

I draesay it's hard to concentrate on my homework now.

Memory is a funny thing. She may well have been remembering the time you showed it to her, and thinking she saw it "on television a few times".

If she's older, she may not make much of a distinction between broadcast TV, cable, DVD, or video tape. If it's on her TV set, it's "on TV". My parents have shown similar confusion at times.

Or, she may have seen it at a friend's house.

I'm pointin' right at it!

Nah, she only saw about 15 minutes of one episode - not enough to qualify for a few. She coulda seen it at one of her sons' houses, though. they all lie within... 10 minutes of each other.

Okay, I've just found out it IS on her TV - what she calls "the wacky channel," or channel 22 in the Dunn North Carolina area. She says it comes on every Saturday around 2 or 3.
