There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Last night at LACONIV, this year's world science fiction convention, Serenity was presented a special Prometheus Award by the Libertarian Futurist Society. Presented annually since 1982, there are usually just two awards, one for best current novel and another for a classic book. This is only the fifth time in their existence that a special award has been created for something other than a novel. They have not updated the site yet, but you can check out past winners here - http://www.lfs.org/awards.htm

Tonight will bring the announcement of the Hugo Awards, and Serenity is again nominated, but it has some stiff competition. Batman Begins, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit.

PATIENCE

I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan, but it has it's own following and has won scads of awards already.

The others I can take or leave--mostly leave--so GO SERENITY!!

Where can we get the information on the Hugo Awards ceremony? Will it be televised?

As far as I know, the Hugo Award ceremony has never been televised. I'm sure there will be a lot of people with cameras there, and in this day of streaming or downloadable video on the net, I am sure it will surface somewhere soon.

I got my information about the Prometheus Awards this morning at Locus Online - http://www.locusmag.com/index.html - and I am sure they will post the Hugo winners as quickly as anyone. Also, even though they don't normally update on a weekend, I'll bet it will also be posted tomorrow at scifi.com.

Thank you ECGordon. YAY Serenity!

I had gotten busy and forgotten that we were getting close on the Hugo's. I'll wait this evening and tomorrow -- hoping. You're right, it does have stiff competition, but it's done so well with all these awards so far.. it won't surprise me and it'll certainly please me if it wins tonight.

This may sound cliche, but isn't almost (I did say almost) an honor just to be nominated?

I'll be rootin' for our BDM!

May not be smart, and it may not please you, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.
