I've loved MST3K since I was a little kid. One of the only good things to come out of my state besides Steve Zahn if you ask me.

Those guys still do stuff around town. The guy who played Tom Servo does pre-screening of indie movies and then holds a discussion with the audience...he does that every few months. I know Mike Nelson's been writing books and working on his website.

I've seen just enough MST3K to know I'd love it.

But it never aired in Canada.

Yep, I've always liked it cause I got to see movies I've never heard of. Some of their shows are hilarious, others pretty boring, but its all still fun.

Can't....type.,.....laughing.....help!

Gorram, I miss this show. You know Mike's doing some sort of similar thing involving downloading a movie and also a commentary track for it. Didn't pay a whole lot of attention as I knew I wouldn't be able to do it on my computer, but it's worth checking out I imagine.

I'm a fan of the show, particularly any episode with Dr F and TV's Frank. You have to appreciate bad movies to a certain extent but if nothing else, you can appreciate the sarky comments.

Absolutely love LOVE LOOOOOVE Mystery Science Theater 3000!!!

Started watching in the early Joel days on Comedy Central.
Went to the first ever MST3K "Where's the Cheese?" Convention in Minnesota.
Taped tons of shows when they were first broadcast, have several DVDs now, and will most certainly be getting more in the future.
A quote line I use on another message board is, "Every frame of this movie looks like someone's last known photograph."

Pic taken at the first MST3K Expo-Fest-O-Rama. So happy to meet Trace Beaulieu... he was incredibly patient, generous and gracious to all the fans... plus... hot!

Checking in. A television milestone. I can remember sitting around as kids watching old bad movies SciFi and Horror just naturally lend themselves to this and doing much the same thing. MST3K hit a (sub-)cultural nerve as I suspect many of us shared similar experiences.

Another fun thing we did was record some of the soundtrack of a romantic movie on our portable reel-to-reel tape recorders (and later cassettes!) and play them back to Star Trek reruns. Sometime the dialog would line up just right and hilarity would ensue. It was like "Peyton Space" if you're old enough to get that one.

"Well, here I am."

My daughter and I got in on MST3K late in the game, when Mike and the bots did the show on SciFi. We'd watch every episode and howl with laughter and then talk about it all week.

Hey, I missed this thread before. Fun!
In case you other MST3K fans missed it, I started this thread a few days ago:

I was worried there were no other fans around and I mourned that more people didn't know the hilarity that is Joel and/or Mike and the bots. :)

My recent favorite is from the Vol. 5 set, "The Touch of Satan." It takes place on a Walnut Farm... :)

Me too, Bryce!

I just ordered the Godzilla vs. Megalon set so I'm excited that it's your favorite. I think I would have to go with "Pod People" as the all-time favorite. You just can't beat Joel's moking of the "Idiot patrol, Bees on pot, burnin' rubber tires" song and, of course, there's Trumpie!

I think there are 12 volumes or so of collections-- so you better do some research on what episodes you want!
I really like Volume 5 "Boggy Creek II: And The Legend Continues" (it's actually a second sequel because the first one was so bad it just disappeared) and "The Touch of Satan" (a Satanic siren lures a teenage kid to a Walnut farm)

Which episode is the "Owner of a Lonely Heart" spoof? That sounds hysterical.

Its from ..... 1008- FINAL JUSTICE

(info from http://mst3k.com/)

First shown: June 20, 1999.

Opening: Tom considers the unexplored implications of the song "Owner of a Lonely Heart."
Intro: M&TB are plagued by Yes orchestra hits; Pearl encourages humor in the workplace.

Host segment 1: M&TB demonstrate to Pearl how repeating the same sequence can be annoying.
Host segment 2: Crow & Tom encounter cute little Goosio. They hogpile him.
Host segment 3: Crow's report on Malta includes a good deal of slander on the subject of Maltese men.
End: Having suffered through a really bad Joe Don Baker movie, Mike assumes it's his turn to escape. He's wrong, the poor dope. Meanwhile, Funny Dress-Up Day at Castle Forrester takes a horrifying turn.
Stinger: "Yew think yew kin take me? Go 'head on. It's yer move."

(as for the number of collections of episodes its up to 10 ... collections 1,3, and 10 are in the process of being discontinued because Rhino appears to not want to renew rights to licensing the original films being used. Collection 11 will be out in 2007)

Thank you, Pumaman, for your fantastic and prompt clarification.
Now, which episode is your name from? Is the title "Pumaman"?

--Please forgive all of the questions. I am a big fan, but I didn't have cable growing up so I could only watch those we could get on tape. Now that I have a "real" job, I am slowly trying to collect the sets.
I just wish they would release the seasons so I could see some of the episodes the long-time fans talk about. Is there any possibility of that? Thanks!!

Yes the name is from the Movie in question ...

Unfortunately the rights to some episodes are hard to get for whatever reason and Rhino tries to get whatever they can sometimes ....

rooting around the MST3K forums http://forrestcrow.proboards47.com/ might yield some better explanations

Some episodes and shorts have been archived online at youtube [

] (in 10 parts in most cases)
... there are some bits the MST3K crew did on MTV, for a magazine that did Playstation stuff, etc on youtube

and at google video in full episode format
[ http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=mst3k ].

I guess I've been posting here sporadically for the past 10 months or so. I finally installed my home High-Speed Digit Internet, so I may be around a bit more. :)
Anyways, I don't think we've met, so thanks for the welcome! ;)

I actually just ordered the Godzilla vs. Megalon set a couple of days ago, so I'm not sure I should watch it in bits. My first grade boyfriend actually had the real version of that movie and he watched it almost every day so I'm really excited to see it.
