Hey-
I was just thinking, what about giving love to those characters that we don't see regularly, often enough, or more than once?
Who loves to hate YoSaffBridge? and who here thinks Mr. Universe should have gotten love and exposure in the series? Hell, who here thinks Mr. Universe's LoveBot needs respect?
What minor character do you find yourself wishing they had more time to develop?

my vote is, selfishly, with Mr. Universe, because I'm a raging nerd for David Krumholtz. *raging*, *raging* nerd.

I've been trying to decide which of the two threads to respond to....

and I agree about Mr. Universe, I loved the character, and I like to think we WOULD have met him on Firefly if Fox hadn't cancelled out show (grrr argh)

I wanted to see Niska return...

My favorite minor character was definately... hmm... Yo-Saff-Bridge. The first time we see her it's shocking, and she gets the upper hand on Mal (surprise!); and, the second time, when we see her in the box, it's funny.

I tried to find the name of the Alliance captain from "Bushwhacked" but I never heard it mentioned. But he was the only alliance officier who gave Mal a break after saving his life from that madman. I would enjoy seeing him and Mal run into each other again.

They he sat listening to the crews answers to his interrogation was hilarious.

I really liked Petaline in Heart of Gold. If the series had continued I would have loved to see how she was doing running the brothel. I'm sure the planet would have changed for the better too without Burgess running the place.

I think it's Commander Harken, but can't look it
up right now and could be horribly wrong. I
really enjoyed the character. Sniff! Tossing
the papers down. His face when the blood
spattered on him. Really good performance.

Love, love, love Badger and his wonderful office,
with that dangerous-looking posse all around. I
hear that the graphic novels show some trouble
involving Badger, and fear he might not be back
should we get more 'Fly. 'Twould be a loss indeed.

Mine would be a very minor character I supose - the deputy from The Train Job.

Sherif: Her files were all in order?

Deputy: Yup. I ran 'em twice.

Classic.

I tend to like the spa-jew. You know the mail guy on whatcha planet where Mal and Zoe got Tracey and Jayne got his hat. I'm also rather fond of McGinnis, the Alliance dude from the same episode. I also like Niska's lakey from the Train Job that took Mal's deal after Crow was kicked through the engine. So, minor characters are so way fun. Secially the baddie ones.

So many choices...

The ones mentioned here are great. I think Niska was a wonderful villian, and had the series played on (as would have been logical) I'll bet we would have seen more.

LOVE Badger! What an arrogant little man.

Unless it collapsed into insurgency and civil war.

There were so many great characters, besides those already mentioned...

Jubal Early
Badger
Patience
Crow
Sheriff Bourne from The Train Job
The Blue Hands guys
Elder Gamman
The little wide-eyed kid in Jaynestown
Sir Warwick Harrow (Shindig)
Ruby (Safe)

It's amazing how these characters left such strong impressions, sometimes in just a few minutes of screen time.

I, personally, would like to see more with Simon's parents. Maybe, they happen to run into them on a planet or moon... Just picture Mal's face.

Thank you Penguin and Fluorobunny;

So it's Haken I would like to see again. Someone mentioned the sheriff in "The Train Job". I would like to see them both because they show that whole Alliance is not bad, but just a few.

Thanks again for your help

My other favorite (how could I forget?) is Jubal. He's just so... strange, and funny, and yet a bad guy.

"Am I a lion?"

I love how he seriously considers that...

Yinyang:

I lot of fans believe Jubal could retrieve his spacecraft. So there is a very excellent possibility he would return if the series continued.

I know. That would be really exciting! Then, maybe we could learn more about the midget, or another one of his bizarre bounties!

I was always thought his name very strange. Jubal Early was a confederate general during the Civil War and thus supported enslaveing the black race and here is a black man with his name.

Could be he had some strange parents. Maybe they were Lions.

Gregg Henry, who played Sheriff Bourne from The Train Job has had many small parts in many small movies. My favorite character is Val Resnick - a small time gangster trying to make the big time in the 1999 movie Payback - This movie stars Mel Gibson (of whom i am no great fan), but it is really a tight little story - a tad bloody - but worth a watch....

Oooh, no one's said this one yet, Monty from the beginning of Trash was a pretty cool guy. If we ever get more episodes it would be cool to meet some more of Mal and Zoe's war buddies. That could be the source of some pretty good stories there...

It takes all kinds to make the world go ‘round. Unfortunately, some are pedaling in the wrong direction...

No doubt Niska needs to make a comeback. Most of the other contacts are simply an annoyance, such as Badger. Niska on the other hand was a true danger, someone not to be crossed

And on the fun side, Fanty and Mingo. And remember, Fanty's prettier...
