Okay, so I'm a week late.

Thanks for the welcome, ZZETA13. I joined up back in May but have only been an occasional lurker until a couple of weeks ago. Had some time off work, got interested in a few threads, couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore; you know the drill.

Thanks also for the summary. Seems like an appropriate cross-section, but I'd like to see more of us elders in the mix. But it is nice to see the money demographic so well represented. I always say Firefly is a bankable risk. But then the imaginary studio execs I pitch to never seem to get the light to turn green...

Anyway, have a good day. Quest out.

"Well, here I am."

Oh, the elders are there, my friend. Just have to know where to look.

I'm 39. I have no problem telling anyone my age. I fought long and hard to get here.

Now my weight, on the other hand, will be my sole secret to the grave.

An elder at 39? I can remember a time when 40 seemed old to me. I wasn't even a tween yet. Now it seems a fresh young age. Ah well.

Thank you for responding. Lately it seems I've been a thread killer. I haven't checked out your fanfic yet (but I most certainly will), but I was quite impressed by your Kaylee, and would like to see more. Love your icon, too. Who's it and who's it by? You and you?

Best of luck with the schoolin', though it looks like they won't have much left to teach ya.

Thanks Johnny - cool screen name. Johnny Quest was one of my favorite cartoons growing up.

Considering the youngster that started this thread is 13, I figured 39 is elder-ish. Then again, I hear that for women these days, 60 is the new 50, 50 is the new 40 and 40 is the new 30, so by that reckoning, I'm actually 29

My icon - would that it was me, but that's Jeanette Lee. She's known as The Black Widow with the WPBA. I appropriated her likeness for the Gunrunners RP a couple years back. Now she just seems exceedingly appropriate for the tagline.

I've done Mal as well and had plans for more, but of course school doesn't allow for a lot of that right now. I figure ways to work Firefly into class projects when I can. My artist page on the MNArtists.org web site currently features a piece called "Moon Grey Blue" that I borrowed Nathan Fillion's pretty face for. That was for a project where we were to design illustrations for Winston Newton Ink bottles.

For a second there I thought you were refering to The Black Widow of IFOCE fame, but that's Sonya Thomas. (Hey, you made me look up Jeanette Lee, you can look up Sonya Thomas...)

Wow, just checked out your gallery. Your "As It Should Be" knocked me out of my command chair! (Was my favorite show while it ran, before it became "Absent Bitch and the Lonely Beast". Old grudges die hard.) The Muse (sure this ain't an original comment) is inspiring. And of course you really captured the captain in "It's Enough".

Thanks for the link. I wish you much success.

Is it possible to hijack an old thread?

I think BatB has made me more cynical about television than anything. I swore after that that I'd never get attached to another show like that.

Then Firefly came along, and I got attached before I realized what had happened.

Thanks for the comments. I need to upload some of the new stuff one of these days, when I find the time.

Yeah, right. This is the first time I've been here in, what, months?

Well I'm pleased to make your acquaintance, mei, mei (if I may be so bold so soon). I'm smellin' a lot of talent comin' offa this site, to badly misquote Jayne. If I ever get to finishing any fanfic, or drawings, I'll hang 'em up in the Blue Sun Room. But I have a BAAAAD habit of not completing projects.

At any rate, I'll be looking for your posts, as infrequent as they may be.

I am 45 and share my birthday (Sept. 20) with our loving Captain. My son introduced me to the Browncoats 'verse about a year ago. He writes fanfic under the name Lonewolf7. He didn't know his mother was Scifigal until about a month ago. What fun I've had reading his stuff. (He is really really good and that is not just proud mom stuff!) I'd like to know where people are from too. I know we have Browncoats 'round the globe. I'm from Iowa in good ol' USA.

Ummm , nope ! If you had a birthday and 'turned' 27 , you have *completed* your 27th orbit , and are heading well into your 28th orbit at a velocity of approximately 66,000 miles per hour !

Meanwhile , you're also *spinning* at about 1,000 miles per hour . So , if you've ever wondered why folk tend to seem more confused as they become older , now you know that we've got a good excuse ! Or two .

I'm nearly done with my 45th orbit by this way of reckoning .

Still Flyin' !

LOL I am approaching 3 times 20. I just turned 58 last month, and I never act my age.

I do remember paying a nickle for Saturday matinees. I saw a few of the "Flash Gordon" episodes, but I never went every week to see the whole series. Traveler, if I ever get a chance to view the entire series, I will be sure to let you know.

I have tried to cram in as much sci-fi into my brain as I could. I started with weekly episodes of "The Twilight Zone" in my youth, and I think I was 8 years old when I first saw "The Forbidden Planet." I don't go for the bloody violent sci-fi shows, but when "The Train Job" first aired in 2002, I was there. I've been a Browncoat ever since.
