Surely the BBC should pick up this show. They've already had runs of Buffy, and the various Star Trek shows were shown quite often on BBC2.

Come on BBC execs, Firefly on BBC2 maybe on a thursday night or something.

Ok, so what about CH4, they had Angel I think, and don't they do SG1 and that Babylon5 thing ?

Come on British TV execs pull your fingers out and get on the Firefly bandwagon.

You know we should send loads of emails & letters asking BBC2 or C4(channel 4) or even channel 5 to buy the rights to show Firefly.

First we need to agree on a Channel,I personally think C4 are more likely to buy it because BBC2 haven't bought any new sci-fi series in years,& channel 5 don't have much money but they do buy sc-fi things like Stargate Alantis which is unsual because C4 have Stargate SG-1.The reason I think C4 are more likely to buy Firefly is because C4 have bought a few sci-fi shows in recent years & have just finished showing Enterprise & Smallville won't be on for quite a while.

I've been reading for a while but never posted... but if there is any way to get firefly onto UK TV I'll join the queue at the post-box to send letters - just tell me where to address them!

Luckilly the British Government has Fk all say on what the BBC puts on air. Which is how they remain one of the most unbiased (not completely unbiased, but right at the top of the list). The organisation that pays for them can't tell them what to do.

A few years ago I would have said that the BBC was the best bet for a Sci-Fi show but these days I'd go for C4. If by some miracle it did get picked up they might just show it on E4 as well and then we get repeats throughout the week plus a week later it all gets repeated again on C4. Lots and lots of showings.

I always thought that the BBC controlled the govt.
The 'license fee' crap where they charge what they want for usually very substandard programmes (there are some exceptions though), and endless repeats of Dads Army, Last Of The Summer Wine and other lame sitcoms.
BBC2 on the other hand has it's fair share of decent to fantastic programmes.

I think we need to send email & mail to all of the channels BBC2,C4,& C5.That whay there's more of a chance but it's going to take a lot of us to make them even consider buying Firefly.

I think it would be great to get firefly aired anywhere it can be. In the US or UK, it doesn't matter to me. I will be happy to send some e-mails. You never know, maybe if we get enough people to respond. Anyway, I think I only pick up BBC, but that's okay. Either way, we will have to break through the alliance stronghold.

But you Americans had Firefly repeated multiple times on Sci-Fi plus we Brits have never had Firefly on TV before hell you even got Serenity on HBO we won't get Serenity for a while on TV.And as for BBC,C4 programs which you can't get I feel exactly the same way cause us Brits can't get all your TV channels.

Firefly has aired multiple times on UK Sci-Fi (ISTR they had the world premiers of Trash, Heart Of Gold & The Message). And Sky Box Office are currently showing Serenity. However, I do agree it would be nice to have Firefly on a main UK network, even though it only aired on a main US network (Fox) once, with (apparently) not much success. And I agree that BBC2 would be the ideal choice over C4/E4 and five.

most of the shows we have are crap. and the few shows that we have that are good are often stolen from the lads across the pond such as The Office. But then again you guys had Red Dwarf (my favorite brit show) and it never took off in America, in fact i have a copy of the pilot episode which is of extremely poor quality and fails in comparison to the british version since you cant beat Craig Charles, Robert Llewellyn, Danny J. Jules, and Chris Barrie and Norman Lovett

I don't like the BBC(1 or 2) anymore, first reason is they cancelled 7 Days(US sci-fi series),second they started to buy no more sci-fi series, thirdly they can't even be bothered to show the sci-fi series anymore as repeats(even though Star Trek:TOS & TNG are being repeated on Satardays).Plus there a*sholes which keep raising the TV license fee but are making more & more cr*p every year.So that's why I prefer C4 or Five to get Firefly but we should all ask all of them(BBC2,C4,Five) to buy Firefly.

The BBC didn't pick up Firefly when Serenity came out so I think it's less than likely they will show the repeats now. I just can't seem them airing a show that's four years old.

So are people actually going to do this or just debate? The general consensus seems to be those three so get writing people, and not here to say the same things. A few dribs and drabs of letters spread over years wont affect anything, it needs to be hard, fast and consistent, like in the Shoreshank Redemption (sorry, can't think of a Firefly example of mass letter campaigning - yes I can, the broadcast in Serenity, although that wasn't long term enough).

Anyway, we need it in this country.

But first we need to alert all UK Browncoats that we're doing this before we send all our email & mail,so here's my plan I'm going to create a thread later today which will be have the links & explain what needs to be done,we need every UK Browncoat on the site to see this thread or the thread I will create,I will also include the date at which I think we should all start emailing & mailing so don't do it right now cause not everybody know's about that were doing this & if we do it when I say then will get the maximum number of Browncoats emailing & mailing.

I'll create the thread this evening(between 6pm-9pm) cause I think that's the time the most UK Browncoats will be online cause some of us do have jobs.

I think the date at which we set to start emailing & mailing should be around at least 1 month time.

Sure, it's more time to watch FF and S but still.

To be honest, I doubt that anybody on analogue TV (Where you use an arial) are likely to show it. Digital TV is probably the best option.

For example, every time a new series of the simpsons comes about, Sky are the first to show it in the UK.

But seeing as I don't have digital TV myself, I can't suggest who.

Anybody who disagrees with any of this violently can do so. But no matter what you do, "You can't take the sky from me".

Well actually the only reason the sci-fi zone isn't on at the moment is because Enterprise finished & SG-1 finished the 7th season 4 or 5 months ago & the 8th season is coming back in the next few months so the sci-fi zone will back soon.
