I was hit with this idea a while ago.

I was listening to Billy Joel, not paying any attention to the lyrics, when "Only the Good Die Young" came on. I was subsequently ignoring this song up until I heard: "We ain't too pretty and we ain't to proud" and thought That's Firefly. I've got to tell someone.
Ever since, "Only the Good Die Young has just been waiting to be put on my Firefly playlist on iTunes. It has the distinction of being one of the only manual playlists, which means any subsequent files which decide they are absolutely Firefly material are going to be added.

Anyone else have similar stories? Preferably about non-specifically-for-Firefly/Serenity songs, but if you have a heartwarming story about one of those, by all means, let me know.

May not be smart, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.

Posted this before elsewhere, but I was listening to some random Johnny Cash, when the last verse of Highwayman jumped out at me.

I fly a starship/cross the universe divide/and when I reach the other side/ I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can/I may become a highwayman again/or I may simply be a single drop of rain/but I will remain...

And I just had a picture of Mal at the end of the BDM when he looks across at River.

Ah, I'm not smart enough to actually look for other threads like this.

While I was posting this reply, the exact SAME thing happened, the whole, not paying attention, and the same lyrics came up. Again?! What does that say about my tastes in music?

That does sound like Firefly/end of Serenity... woohoo!

Rain by Elisa is Zoe's song to Wash.

You are not a enemy anymore,
Theres a ray of light apon your face now,
I can look into your eyes,
And I never thought it could be so simple.

You can hear the music with no sound,
You can heal my heart without me knowing,
I can cry in front of you,
Cause your not afriad to face my weakness.

When we'll wake up,
Some morning rain,
Will way away,
Our pain,

When we'll wake up,
Some morning rain,
Will wash away our pain,

Cause it never began for us,
It'll never end for us,
Cause it never began for us,
It'll never end for us,

You are not my enemy anymore,
Theres a ray of light apon your face now,
It'll be all new again,
There is somehting else just round the corner,

So when we wake up some moring rain,
Will wash away our pain,
When we wake up some morning rain
will wash away our pain

Cause it never began for us,
It'll never end for us,
Cause it never began for us,
It'll never end for us,

I was looking for a place to stay,
Are you looking for a place to stay?

no it never began for us......X4

Jayne: "Testing, testing. Captain, can you hear me?"
Mal: "I'm standing right here."
Jayne: "You're coming through good and loud."
Mal: " 'Cause I'm standing right here."

Whoo... yeah. Hey, I saw a poem that WAS River. It was written by a fourth grader.

I should have thought of that.

"Beautiful River, Full of Feeling"

The river is calm,
Yet inside she is wild
And full of anger
For we disturb her peace and quiet.
She remains calm on the outside,
Though her insides are sceraming with frustration.
At night the river is lonely and scared.
The sounds of cars frighten her.
How much she longs for us, even if we are mean.
She knows that one is more than nothing.
No matter where the people are,
The river knows, for she stretches long.
Her feelings change.
Remember the river and give her peace, or one day she will be gone
And you will be sorry.
So care fo rthe river
For she has feeling.

OMFG. Is that not River?

May not be smart, and it may not please you, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.

Still say U2's Elevation is perfect

"Elevation"

High, higher than the sun
You shoot me from a gun
I need you to elevate me here

At the corner of your lips
As the orbit of your hips
Eclipse
You elevate my soul

I've got no self control
Been living like a mole now
Going down, excavation
I and I, in the sky
You make me feel like I can fly
So high
Elevation

A star
Lit up like a cigar
Strung out like a guitar
Maybe you can educate my mind

Explain all these controls
Can't sing but I've got soul
The goal is elevation

A mole
Digging in a hole
Digging up my soul now
Going down, excavation

I and I
In the sky
You make me feel like I can fly
So high
Elevation

Love
Lift me out of these blues
Won't you tell me something true
I believe in you

A mole
Digging in a hole
Digging up my soul now
Going down, excavation

I and I
In the sky
You make me feel like I can fly
So high
Elevation

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2

Anyone ever heard Barroom Hero by Dropkick Murphy's. Like to see a Jayne montage to it.

"...And them chains them chains
Their 'bout to drag me down"
