(BTW, today is officially De-lurking Day. So much for getting the lawn mowed.)

I am going to Edmonton for a work trip from Aug. 8 to Aug. 14. Any Nathan landmarks to look for? Or just neat things to do in Fillion City?

I won't intrude on his house or anything (unless invited!), but I might want to walk by that comic store that treated him so badly...but I forget the name of it! I could just go in and ask if they have the Serenity comics, very politely of course...

I'm in Boston, Edmonton is far away.

The comic store was WarpOne (Warp1?) Comics. Look for Darryl, the one-eyed crap-catcher.

To buy comics, I believe he recommended Happy Harbour comics because they were nice to his mom.

Welcome out of lurkdom. I keep trying to go back into lurk mode, and failing.

Here's the comic store thread:

Well, if you were going to Edmonson, I'd say bring a dobro, or a fiddle.

Edmonton, well, there I can't help. I'm from Mass. too.

If your in their area I strongly recommend going to see the fan made film/series Into The Black. They've built an entire set in a warehouse, came up with chracters, storylines and plots and though they've only shot a few things so far it looks to be a rather professional amature production. For more details and to see if you'll be in their area go their site, you can see the gallery of their sets and props, read bios on the characters, and read about their ship Samsara. This has gotten so much attention even Joss mentioned them in a blog on Whedonesque. Have fun, maybe they'll ask you to be their dogsbody for the weekend. I envy you.

Curses, seems my first post did send. I got a Microsoft dll file error when I sent the first time and assumed I had lost my first post.

It's not happening again is it?

I'd go by the hockey arena and thank the Oilers for the Stanley Cup. The 'Canes have paraded that thing all over NC. Haven't seen it myself but have become an instant southern hockey fan.

NC - That Stanley Cup final was a heartbreaker, no matter which side you're on. I asked an Edmonton co-worker if anyone would have recovered by the time I get there (some months after the Final). He instantly said "no"!

How about a theorbo? Lovely 500-year-old instrument.

Lutes are fun (when played well). If played badly, they are very effective against pesky neighbors.

They'll never believe that an upstart hockey team from the American South could beat a CANADIAN hockey team. What they didn't realize is that most of the 'Canes are Canadian.

My brother went to the final game in Raleigh and said that he screamed more than at an ACC basketball game between UNC and Duke. That's saying something around here where ACC basketball is monsterous.
