I modified the thread title, here's original post

"for those that don't know about the documentary produced about Firefly... go to www.donetheimpossible.com

for those of you, who like me, have pre-ordered last year... the website posted an update a couple of months ago saying that it will ship before July 20th

well, that date is rapidly approaching and there are still no updates...

I'm assuming the producers of the documentary frequent this site so... when? WHEN?"

I've heard rumors that it is going to be available at comic con, and mailed out to the rest of us right afterwards
(and comic con is this weekend)
so I sure do hope so! I'm dying to see it!

Since I'm co-chair of the Comic-Con Browncoat tables, I'd better know what I'm taling about...

The Done The Impossible dvd (and soundtrack/shirts/etc.) will be available at our booth!!! Tables A11 and A12 on the exhibit floor.

There's a lot of hard work in this production, and everyone who ordered it will get more than their money's worth in my opinion. For those who haven't ordered and are on the fence, just wait for the reviews, I doubt there will be any negative ones.

Thanks
James

Just got this email from Jeremy Neish of DonetheImpossible.com :

We wanted to thank you again for pre-ordering Done The Impossible -
The Fans Tale of Firefly and Serenity.

After exactly one year of production, we are happy to announce that
the documentary and DVD are done! It took considerably longer than
we had originally expected, and we appreciate your patience. But we
think you will be genuinely surprised by the quality of both the
documentary and all of the special features on the DVD and DVD-ROM. The DVD master was sent to be replicated on July 11th and we expect
to begin shipping copies in 7-14 days after that. We will be
shipping in the order in which they were received.

Can't wait.
(the website has been updated also)

I love the cover and disc art!

I can't imagine that I didn't pre-order this piece of pretty, but I honestly can't remember doing so. Either way, I've got 1 dvd ( just ordered ) coming my way, or 2.

Thanks for posting this!

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I'm not overly familiar with the project, so I was wondering if there is any chance of the documentary being shown on TV, or possibly released to video stores or online rental companies like Netflix or Movielink?

Hmmmmm you will be forgiven, its a fanmade documentary just check out the main website, donetheimpossible.com , its a fanmade documentary that went underway last summer in preparation for the release of the movie. its made by the fans for the fans, and all of the shiny features make it seem worth it.

and i think its well worth the buy. I dont know if it will be available on netflix etc, this isnt a Universal documentary or anything its all fanmade, done quite professionally though. Wait till you hear the reviews etc before considering to buy it(I pre-ordered back in December). Also any profits made from the DVD sales will be handed over to Equality Now Joss Whedon's favourite charity.

I wanted to clarify. The producers will be donating a portion of each sale to EN, not all profits. I make this distinction in case anyone buys one solely for this reason.

And from what I understand, they have spent thousands of their own money to make this movie, and won't turn a profit unless they sell a ton of dvd's. So when they donate a portion of every sale, it will be whether or not they have actually made any money at all.

Thanks
James

ohhh oops thanx for the clarification. a portion is a difference. But the fact they are willing to donate a portion is still cool. And yeah selling a ton of dvdes. Well Im sure once all of the pre-orders are taken care of, and postivie reviews start pouring people will be buying up that DVD. Sounds like something a Browncoat can not go without.

I saw it at WonderCon in February, and it's a great movie. They edited it so well, that it tells an actual story. It's not just a collection of interviews and shots of fans being fans. And Adam is great as the host.

Add to that an amazing array of special features and it's a must own dvd. Browncoats now have something that will help explain things to the non-Browncoat. And it's one more notch in the "Firefly/Serenity just won't die" belt.
