I know we would all say the cast and crew of BDM and Firefly - but lets make it interesting - 10 people in total and no more than 3 can be from the BDM/Firefly cast and crew.

Nathan (natch)
Sidney Poitier
Mr and Mrs Bill Gates
Sir Bob Geldof
Bono
Sandra Bullock
Angelina Jolie
Barbara Bush
Christiane Amanpour

OK, so
1 Joss Whedon
2 Amy Lee
3 Jon Bon Jovi
4 Summer Glau
5 His Holiness the Dalai Lama
6 Johnny Rzeznik
7 Anne Bishop
8 Sean Maher
9 Will Smith
10 Douglas Adams (Are dead people allowed?)

hmmm this is fun ok

1-Adam Baldwin
2-Ron Glass
3-Joss Whedon
4-Bruce Campbell
5-Sam Raimi
6-Wes Craven
7-Sean Bean
8-Tony Todd
9- Keanu Reeves ( he looks and acts so much like my brother it's scary)
10- Richard E. Grant

Now I'd just have to figure out what to serve.

You know there's a great program on Bravo called dinner for 5 based on this premise. They invited 5 actors and directors and such with something in common like horror films or such and then have them just talk about stuff and life in general. No plugging new movies allowed. It's fun to watch:)

Joss Whedon
J K Rowling
Tim Minear
Peter Jackson
Neil Gaiman
Laurie R King
C J Cherryh
Terry Pratchett
Alan Moore
Michael Gambon (for the fabulous lies)

John Cusack would just render me incapable of coherent speech. And I usually prefer the characters to the actors. I could possibly make an exception for Nathan...

Just read a post above - Sam and Bruce as well. Oh, yeah, baby...

sorry FMF he's married with a darling 9 month old son..but yes he's like a much tanner keanu reeves. People comment on it all the time. The resemblance is spooky:)
EDIT- I should also mention he's a certified math genius with a perfect score on the advanced calculus test without taking the class or stuying. He's about to graduate at the top of his class in bio-mechanical engineering. ( you should see his robot)
Unfortunately he sounds like Keanu as well, so sometimes people assume he's an idiot:(

Mmuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrr...

Well, he's still gorgeous. The concert I was at was not that many years ago.
You know what's fun, though? He gets distracted by cleavage, and he totally messed up a song twice while he was over by me. He's quite funny about it; says something like "Months of practice and touring and all it takes to mess me up is one girl jumping around in a tank top." Hard to know if he was talking about me, but I'm just going to go ahead and assume he was.
Security stopped me by the buses, though. Which was doubly sad because it was a double tour of hotness; The Goo Goo Dolls with Bon Jovi. Oh dear...
We got off the subject, didn't we?

ummmm. sorry - but I was going to start a thread called "Famous people you have met". And then as I was typing it I decided I was SUCH a loser.

Hm cleavage huh? I remember that he commented on my legs. I had on a reallllly short skirt and he was watching me move around the office. mmm mmmm mmmm. I am getting all flushed - now remember this is back when he was really just a hit in Buffalo. Right before Name hit the charts, so I new he was Johnny Rzeznik - But that really didn't mean anything - other than he was hot and I wanted me some.

Being that I am very shy one-to-one, I would like little groups of people. My list would look something like this:

2. Cary Grant and Fred Astaire (of course there would be loads of dancing as well as dinner)
3. Jane Austen, Harper Lee and Dostoevsky
4. Martin Luther King, Jr and Abraham Lincoln

Of course! But lets add Nelson Mandela to that 4th group. I think it would be so interesting to put people together who started a cause and those who took it up generations later. I also think it would be interesting to put Jane Austen with some feminist icons of today.

I should have mentioned Kevin Smith, too! I don't know, though, the man likes to talk.
I admire Miss Rowling, but I would not want to have her to dinner until the last book is out or I would end up yelling "Tell me what the hell happens, gorrammit!!!!!" every ten minutes.
Plus I love Anne Bishop. Does anyone here know who she is? She's a very creative storyteller and has a lovely darkness to her books. Also... Very Pagan.

Penguin, kudos. John Stewart. Yes indeed, very smart man. Love to have dinner with him, too.

Doesn't Sidney Poitier just seem like the coolest person?

Great list! Can I come too? I promise to jump in front of a few of the punches!

Sure come on over!

Sidney Poitier was so ahead of his time. When I was a young girl I watched every movie he made and had such a crush on him.

Audrey Hepburn of 1951. I adored all of her movies! I would have loved to invite her over for drinks, and spend the whole evening dressing her up in elegant outfits and photographing her all night long. She would have eventually tired of the affair and called her lawyers and the police...

John Lennon and I would have gotten along splendidly. I think I would have enjoyed being with him during his famous "lost weekend."

Sandra Bullock is one of those actresses that keep getting put in the wrong movie. It’s clear that she has talent, and she's so adorable and smart. She reminds me of my 1st girl on girl relationship...A wolf in sheep’s clothing that one is.

Denzel Washington looks and acts like my ex-husband. Denzel Washington is such a splendid actor. I love everything he's done. I really liked him in Man on Fire and Malcolm X.

Nathan Fillion is a strange actor. He has a way of projecting simplicity and small towness into every roll he plays. I really like him...he's so skilled.

Ben Affleck is so handsome. Every person I know seems to hate this actor, but I like him. He's very comforting. I liked him in every movie he's ever done and yes, I even liked him in Dare Devil.

Summer Glau. She's an up and coming actress and she's good...no question in my mind. Once she finds her footing, she's going to go places. Her role as River convinced me of the characters reality. Total skill.

Joss Whedon. Oh god! Yes, we will start off simple enough talking about movies and roles, while we share a bottle of some unnamed wine, but before long we will be near to coming to blows about character development; a lot of screaming and yelling would come out of that night.

Sarah Michelle Gellar. I would just be giddy knowing that she was over at my place having dinner! My mind would twist a little and I would keep thinking "OMG! The Slayer is sharing a meal with me!" I would keep thinking that Spike or Angel is going to drop by; such fun that would be!

Sarah Michelle Gellar carried the role of Buffy through 7 seasons and she did a wonderful job. The show was a success and she's done such a good job that she will always be known as Buffy to everyone that meets her.

River
