JOLLYJINN

Hello everyone!
Yesterday i finally saw 15 episode of Firefly. I was so exited that a straight away went to a dvd store and bought a Serenety film(I've seen it in the cinema, but that time I didnt know that was tv show before)And in the dvd I knew about this sad situation with cancellation.I'm a Star Wars fan. I've seen many tv shows including Buffy,Angel. But this one,Firefly, conquered me. So i wanna be with u guys! want to be a Browncoat :)

And now want to ask u. Soon in Moscow will be a Starcon (All-russian conferency of star wars fans) and i want to make a t-shirt with Serenity pic on it. So I wanna ask u guys: does anyone have or know where to get a Serenety logo pic with good quality?
Thank u

P.S. sorry if my english has many mistakes

Hello Jollyjinn. I like your name. Welcome to the Verse (as it's called in Firefly instead of Universe)

Followmal is a Browncoat that welcomes people giving out virtual Browncoats, it's her thing. She's the requisition officer. Look out for her.

I used to give out Mudders Milk (that Jayne drinks in Jaynestown) and stopped, but I'll offer you one now.

Don't worry about chat, if you don't feel comfortable there (I don't go on chatline) then just stay on the threads and talk with us, we promise not to bite (too hard)

And if your having problems understanding don't be afraid to ask, we're all here to help each other. It's what we as browncoats do.

If you see the site that says Blue Sun Room please go check it out for some amazing art and fan fiction.

You'll like it here I'm sure, we're all shiny.

If I'm a bitch, then life just got interesting

Give me some weeks to calm my emotions and I'll start to make russian FF site...

and one more thing:
I"ve watched Serenity in original without russian looping. So it was really funny to hear from Simon "eto kuram nasmeh" when he stops River. "Pardon? Am I rigth..Did just Simon speak russian?" funny. Well my friend then expained then that Joss learned russian in his childhood. So.. it makes me love all Joss' works more
Maybe some demons in BTVS or Angel speak russian?

Ahoy, JollyJinn!
Welcome home!

FollowMal has a radar which will detect
your presence soon enough.
You will be fitted with your own virtual
browncoat as soon as she knows you are
here.

I see you have been offered a drink.
I try to do the strawberries for the
newcomers, so please step over to the
buffet and fill up a plate. There are
fresh berries and a whole range of Firefly
themed treats. Wife soup is over there on
the burner. Ice-planets are in the cooler,
bottom shelf.

Sean would be proud to know that his Russian
phrase was recognized as such by a Russian-
speaking listener. What a great story.

We haven't heard from Mandarin-speakers yet,
as far as I know.

I don't do chat, either. Very slow typist!

translation is roughly "it is for hens to laught" what means "this is so stupid or it's a crap to hear or discuss that". Or "I dont belief in that so leave it to chikens they will laugh at this"

But actually its not a popular phrase beyond russian speakers now.

Your English is fantastic! We have to give you much respect! Most Americans only speak English and many would be surprised to learn that Europeans are often multilingual.

Have no fear with making grammatical mistakes. We are here to help you learn.

well it might be true..really dont know much about american education. I heard that its more single-purposed. That students themselves choose the classes they need. Here in Russia students choose the faculty where they wish to study, and the each faculty has its own bevy of classes.

Spasibo means "Thanks", as far as I remember from playing Battlefield 1942. Taught me a lot of useful words in many language, that game. I can now yell for a medic in Japanese, if need be. Not many people can do that. Well, except maybe for the Japanese, and I understand there are quite a lot of them, but still, yay me!

Well I am not Russian but my background is probably the closest to Russian (well here at least), which is Greek. The only things we have in common is characters in our languages, and we follow the exact same religion. I am sure there is more but nothing else is coming to mind. JollyJin, you may be able to order a Serenity T-Shirt online. I am going to a comic store downtown to get my Serenity T-Shirt (it is pretty cheap too, only $16.50 CDN). It is brown and has a huge Serenity logo. If you are a fan, you need one.

I don't much understand the American education system either these days. American High schools have certain requirements for graduation, you are told how many math, science, language, etc. classes you need to graduate, then you are allowed a certain number of what are "elective: classes. Those are the classes that you have a choice on. Curriculum is different on a State and County level.

Welcome JollyJinn

I would imagine that there would be a lot of Russian browncoats given Russia's history of a strong space program. One of the interesting things about the Firefly series is the idea that the U.S. and China are the two major cultural entities in the verse. I was surprised that Russia, given its admirable space program, was not the other along with the U.S., but then again China is gearing up its space program and things may well change a lot in the next 500 years. If it was Russia you could have helped us all with Russian slang.

Ah-ha-ha, God forbid! :) That is the reason I felt OK with China being a second power and not Russia.
You can't imagine how horrible Russian obsenities would have sounded from the lips of our BDHs. For some reason Russian cussin' sounds like the rudest cussin' of all, believe me. It would have turned me off the show, seriously. Yuck-yuck-yuck. :)

So "eto koorram na smekh" is as far as I'm prepared to go with the Russian slang in the 'Verse.

Well I think its right. Cuz these two cultures are now developing all over the world. Chineses u know are spreading so fast that maybe in 15 years they will inhabit most of Siberia its kind a prediction that every russian knows :)
