A month or so ago I posted for the first time in a very long time. It was about an origional story idea that was in my head. I was given a number of good suggestions and have not sat down and written a fair amount of "things" about the universe, situations and some events that I see happening.

I am thinking that I should contact a fanfic writer to see if they would like to see if there is an actual story in there somewhere. But I just don't know....

Any suggestions? I am not a writer, I am just someone with an idea. I need help if it is going to go any farther.

Dave

check out the "List of Beta Readers" thread. It's designed to help writers find betas for fanfics, but I am sure you'll be able to find someone to help you, there.

Another idea is to join a creative wirting groups online (there are a number on yahoogroups), and find someone to help you there. For general advice, and a little glimps into how people write, I would recommend checking out www.nanowrimo.org -- the national novel writing month website. You can't register to post until october, but their forums are definately worth checking out anyway.

Have you read any books about writing? I would recommend Orson Scott Card's book on "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy", which is amazing even if you aren't writing scifi or fantasy; the "Elements of Fiction Writing" series, which consists of multiple books, each deovted to a different element of story telling; the 3AM epiphany, a book of writing exercizes that really force you to think; 20 Masterplots and How to Build Them, because it will help focus your structure, even if you diagree with some of it...

Hope that helps!

Peace.

Thanks but I am just not a writer. I am more or less looking to see if anyone might want to give it a look.

Ok, do you think I should private message one or just put a post out there asking if anyone is interested?

Heya, Dave.
I'm on the beta list and would be happy to take a look at it for you.

Email it to
ellioakes@juno.com.

I should have time this weekend to read it and give you some feedback. :)
