JOY

It's a proud Browncoat week for me.
Who are you most proud of converting them to browncoats?

I have only been exposed to Firefly for a year or so, but now I'm REALLY IN LOVE with the series! I have been obsessing about getting the rest of my family to watch, and even my MOTHER said "oh, I'm sorry I have to throw the trash" So I popped in the DVD and just started playing Shindig as loudly as possible. When she walked in and saw the dresses at the ball scene she said "ooh, Pretties!" So I had to start it over again. My mother has never been able to sit for more than 15 minutes in front of the TV without falling asleep, but when it got to the cows, she said "that's it?" So I put in Our Mrs. Reynolds, at which point my dad walked in. My father is a noble pillar of the community, and a 60-year-old fart at that, and he laughed hardest at Mal's comment about 'taking his own plow.' Mom's favorite line is " . . . Special Hell . . . " I had to leave in the middle of their 3rd back-to-back episode, and they WOULDN"T GIVE THEM BACK TO ME!

The next day I asked if they finished the show, and he complained that there was only one more on the disk. "but i left the whole box set, Papa." "You mean there are MORE!" At this point I raised an eyebrow and said, "yes, but not many; isn't it a shame . . . what would you do for there to be more than one season . . ."

Proud day.

STORM

My mom.

I made her watch the series and movie, but it looked as if I hadn't managed to get her hooked. I was wrong. I found a bunch of Firefly pictures and transcripts on her computer desktop. Turns out she was a closet Browncoat!

...Yeah, it's not that funny or great. But it's the best I got. There's something wrong with the people in my town. They just don't like Firefly. *shudders*

Anyway, congrats on your converts!

ARCADIA

My summer project is converting my parents to Firefly. I can see them both liking it for different reasons, but they're both being stubborn so far. My mom, because she caught the last tne minutes of the pilot once and wasn't impressed (too western, she thinks -- but she likes westerns, so I'm confused). My dad, because he thinks it is another one of my "girl" shows. No clue where he got that impression at all, since all he's seen is Serenity movie.

So far, I don't think there is anyone who I'm especially proud of converting, mainly because the people I've gotten to watch are people who I figured would like Firefly. What is really cool, though, it watching it spread. I watched it first last summer, then got my roommate and a few other dorm friends into watching it, then they got their siblings/friends from home to watch it... It's kinda cool, knowing i'm directly and/or indirectly responsible for over a half dozen fans (and counting), including a few who are full fleged "I saw Serenity in theatres three times" or more browncoats (though none quite as obsessed as I am... yet...).

SHINYYUKARI

I have somewhat converted my mom, but she's not as obsessed as me. Actually, she's not really that obsessed at all but she does like it because she was sad after 'Objects In Space' and is still mad at Joss for killing Wash.

I really am proud of my friend Edge though. She lives in Virgina, we've never met face to face but we talk online all the time. Anyway, she's never seen an episode all the way through, only bit of Serenity she's touched on is the Serenity Puppet Theater but through my ultimate powers of persuasion(and a little help from random stuff I link her), she's already becoming a fan. ^^

"Okay! Everybody not talking about sex, in here. Everybody else, elsewhere."~Wash
Browncoats are the coolest fans I've ever seen.

NCBROWNCOAT

I have a possible convert. One of our high school summer hires expressed an interest in SciFi etc. while I was teaching him how to answer the phone Friday(more complicated than you think). Ran home at lunch, got the 1st DVD of the BDS and hopefully I'll be lending him the 2nd disk later on this week.

One of my daughters HS teachers borrowed the BDS and the BDM and then went out and bought her own set.

And I currently have the BDM on loan to another friend at work. Hopefully she and her husband will be converts.

One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

THENEXTMRSREYNOLDS

My mom loves sci fi so I knew she would love Firefly and Serenity. I was right, she is totally obsessed now. But the real surprise is that my dad watched the series with her and really liked it as well. He almost never watches TV and does not like fantasy/sci fi for the most part. I think he liked the western part and how it didn't have aliens.
