Given that I'm unlikely to make it to a screening on June 23rd, I wanted to do something to support both the cause and Equality Now. So, I've decided to put up some of my Firefly/Serenity collectables up on eBay. All the money from them will go straight to Equality Now but I'd like a little advice as to how to best make the most of the items.

So that's the very limited tin box 2 disc Serenity special edition, the Serenity movie magazine, two other movie magazines that had big Serenity features, plus our movie on the front cover (shame on SFX!), a lobby poster, some lobby postcards, the Kaylee fronted comic signed by Jewel herself plus the Firefly DVD set signed by all nine big damn heroes, as well as Christina Hendricks, Chris Buchannan and Mark Sheppard. I'll also include the first ever copy of the fan produced DVD extras disc (which should be done in two weeks time).

Now, what I'd like to know is do people think I should sell as one big job lot or as individual bits? And other than posting on the boards here and other Firefly places, what else could I do to drive a few more potential buyers to the auction?

Many thanks.

I will give you what ever you want for the bed linens. Oh and the Firefly / Serenity stuff is nice too I guess.

De-lurking to stir stuff up.

Put SIMONWHO on the bow. We should honor him! He's our friend!

However you decide to auction them works for me. Though I'd prefer individual auctions as I already have some of the items you listed and would simply end up having to reauction them back off. There are a few there I'm very interested in though. ;)

Maybe just break it into 4 or 5 lots.

posters & cards / magazines / comic / series / tin box

pick one or all of them to include the fan disk with.

EDIT: who am I kidding... I want em all!!!

I agree that you need better pictures. At least use a white sheet.

And as kewl as it would be to run it all as one giant lot, I also agree that you are likely to do better parting it out. Include at the bottom of your auctions one large photo showing everything and say something like, "All this is on eBay right now - click on my other auctions to see it" - just use the photo and that text, no text lists of what's there or somebody will nail you for keyword spamming.

If you break it up you'll have room in your 55 characters of title space to put CAST AUTOGRAPHED or JOSS WHEDON AUTOGRAPH or whatever in there where it applies. That'll help.

Yeah, I'll do better pictures for the auction itself - it's actually a table cloth though (but I'll happily sell my bed linen if that'll raise more money).

Any suggestions as to how to get as many fans interested in the auction as possible?

Oh, and Simon, you know about MissionFish, right? - You have to run all charity auctions thru them or you will get shut down. Trust me, I know firsthand.

Who shut you down? It's certainly not compulsory on eBay.co.uk and the forums on ebay seem almost apoplectic about MissionFish's (mis)use of their eBay approved status.

I hope I've been here long enough for people to trust me. I've already raised £250 for Heartline on another Serenity related auction plus I have a very honest face.

They have rules that seem to be broken and enforced in complete randomness. Check out ebay in the charity FAQ (or somewhere, use the sitemap) and you'll see that if you don't use Missionfish, you have a few requirements. If you play by the rules, they shouldn't shut you down.
