I was just interested in polling whether we all would buy shares in the movie if given the chance. I know I would. Movies may not be the safest place to invest but when you believe in something I think it's only right to put up.

Hell yes!

Furthermore, I'd pay a monthly fee to be a member of the 'Official On-Line Firefly: The Movie' website...which I would check faithfully each day from the link on THIS site.

No I mean a faint, shrill sound like that of a young bird; a chirp. Of course I mean cheap. God, one little mistake.

Fans of firefly may see the movie 3 or 4 times.
Many (many) other people are just wierd and will
go to the theater and watch movies just for something to do. They will say "what's firefly, oh well, lets go see it anyway." having never known it was a tv show (for a few weeks).

The production costs and CG may not be that much since Joss and them are used to making things look great with less money, and the actors hopefully won't demand huge salaries. Joss himself would probably work on it for free.
Firefly shouldn't be about money anyway. It kind of transcends that, as though its just something to believe in.

I also wonder what FOX will think when every fan of firefly buys a DVD collection when thats released (that's kind of a given by now, eh).
Some wierdos will even buy a 2nd one to keep in shrink wrap as a collectors item.

Heehee, calm down freaky. He did say "not to be a bugger". Well, lets just make that cheap, easily agitated, and unable to spell.

In the case of another canceled Fox show, Family Guy, outstanding sales of the DVD set may actually help to sway the idiots at the network. My college paper just did an interview with Seth MacFarlane, the show's creator, and he said that since the DVDs have sold over 200,000 copies it's possible that Fox will do some direct-to-DVD episodes sometime in the future.

Unfortunately, I don't think Firefly's DVD set stands to do nearly that well, since A: due to Fox's incompetent advertising, comparatively few people heard of Firefly, and B: Family Guy's box set contained two seasons in one, and Firefly will only have what, 14 or 15 episodes?

A combination of strong movie proffits and good DVD sales might sway them, but it's a long shot when you're dealing with people so stupid they don't know a hit show when they see one.

Never said I was agitated, just made the point that there was absolutely no reason to ask that. Cheep isn’t even an adjective. Better chalk that up to cheap, easily misinterpreted, and chronic user of spell check in place of proofreading for typing errors.

Ok, I'm reading nothing into it. Now I have a question: will this end soon?

I would give Joss my money if I had any! And I plan to do just that on Tuesday, when I buy Buffy Season 4. And when I buy Angel, season 2. And when I buy FF on DVD.

mmmmmm... Jossy goodness

LOTV

Yes, I think its obvious that most, if not all of us would invest in a movie, given the opportunity and the financial resources to do so...

However the actual odds of Fox doing this, do seem slightly slim imo, but who knows... Stranger things have happened...

Let's look at other films Fox has released (ie:CRAP) The Beach, The Banger Sisters, Big Momma's House, Drive Me Crazy, Great Expectations, Home Alone 3, Monkey Bone, (Do you see where this is going?), and who can forget one of my personal favorites; Kung Pow: Enter the Fist...

Maybe they will wise up and make some money on a good film.

Iffin I had the extra dough, I think that I would invest if possible.

But, the question is, if we wanted to, how would we go about doing so? Like say if I won the lottery this week and wanted to put a million twards a film, how would I go about doing just that?

I don't want it back on Fox, I want either:

USA: Dead Zone and Monk show they know how to handle a good show.

NBC: Hey, they recognized Nathan's talant, they must have SOME favorable impression. And they need to get out of the "All Law & Order All the Time" trap.

WB: So long as it doesn't get the Dawson's Creek treatment (I know they got this history with Joss, but they still carry Angel so maybe fences can be mended...) It'd be a nice companion to follw Smallville on Wed nights...

Syndication: If drek like Andromada can survive....

I'd take Fox over nothing but just BARELY.

"Why we still discussin' this?"

Hell yeah, I'd invest!
I'd even be willing to donate -- public broadcasting style (presuming I can afford it at the time). But I'd much rather be investing in/donating to a new TV venture than to a single film.

Though I'm excited about a Firefly film written and directed by Joss... I have to admit it will take me some time to adjust to that idea. From fall to Dec of 2002, we were treated to 12 episodes of a fantastic show that we could easily tape and watch over and over again immediately.

As has been stated, a single two hour film will take many months (if not a couple years) to create and finally get released. Once it is out, I will have to visit the cinema for repeat viewings where I have no power of the rewind. Once the Firefly movie leaves theaters, It will be a chunk of time before it appears on DVD and a longer chunk of time before we see another film.

One bonus to doing the films, tho... Joss can write and direct them all!

I really enjoyed when Fox was cool (in the early years) and produced five Alien Nation TV movies across two or three years time. I would looooove it if Firefly could pull off something like that.

Hell, I would even be happy with Firefly half seasons like S.1! Wouldn't we all?

What keeps a network so glued to the Sept to May 22 episode paradigm anyway?

I'm confused as to why everyone thinks that if it continues it has to have something to do with Fox. Fox said that they weren't going to get in the way of Firefly going anywhere else, so why would the Firefly movie Joss and Nathan talked about be done by Fox?
