I saw this on whedonesque.com - there is a new video interview with Joss in which he apparently says a sequel to Serenity is "doubtful." I don't have speakers on my computer at work and therefore can't listen. Is this true?

Joss mentions that at THIS point, it seems doubtful. Only because the BDM didn't make the "kind of money" to make a sequel. BUT, Joss says he's always hopeful and still waiting by the phone. Hope that helps.

I listened, ( cool that SciFi now has video interviews!) and he does indeed say, "right now, it's doubtful." Nothing new there, IMHO, we all know that "right now" it's doubtful. I don't believe that means it's doubtful in the future.
Just right now. He also says there are gonna be comics, he also says he'll keep his hope alive, he also says he wants to work with the actors.

I think this is status quo. We are where we are.

Doesn't mean we have to stay that way.

We have an entire Summer of Serenity coming up and we have a great big Thank You to Universal and Joss and the actors in September for the 'Versary. We've been fighting this battle for a long time....it ain't over yet.

Until I hear Joss say that HE'S NOT keeping hope alive and that HE'S NOT interested in doing more... I say we have a shot at getting more.

I'm not going anywhere, I just have work to do.

great interview, thanks for the link!

he does say 'doubtful' but he ALSO says:
he is waiting by the phone...
he would never rule it out...
he is keeping his hopes alive....

so we should not lose heart, once the $ from DVDs gets to a certain point,
AND Joss is a big success w/Wonder Woman and/or Goners
AND a few of our BDHs make it big on TV or in movies...
I think we'll get our sequel!

Not as soon as we'd like, but it WILL happen.
