Did anyone think that the timing of the Serenity HD-DVD is strange...look at the HD-DVD players that aren't out yet and the ones that are, are in very few quantity...Serenity and Firefly dvds doing really well in the sales so lets watch Universal create a whole new batch of dvds that many people arent going to buy cuz the technology for the blu-ray or whatever its called isnt even finalized yet so that way universal can go back into the red and not have to worry bout sequels....just a thought...maybe not a clearly stated or worded one so u guys fix the errors but its the thought thats out there

Makes sense, But Universal has much more to gain buy continuing Serenity. Positive feedback is always better then negative, And Negative feedback means turning their backs on the current and future fanbase. Positive feedback means making the sequel and us all going out and buying it, Now which sounds more profitable?

On another note I doubt that Serenity is Universal's only Re-Print for HD-DVD. In the light of new media formats most Studio's plan a large varied selection as to keep sales up. VHS to Laser Disc, Laser Disc bombs and DVDs come out, Playstation Portable supporsts movies so they start making them for that and now HD-DVD. Beleve me much more popular movies will be going to HD-DVD and if it fails they will fail as well.

Just went to the Official Universal Studios site and heres some other movies coming out or already out..

::APRIL::
Apollo 13: HD-DVD
DOOM: HD-DVD

::May::
Jarhead: HD-DVD
The Bourne Supremacy: HD-DVD
The Chronicles of Riddick: HD-DVD
Van Hellsing: HD-DVD

Thats just a few and yet all are very popular and well appreciated titles. Seeing this I really doubt any harm was meant in the releasing of Serenity on HD-DVD, Aside making us fans go out and buy it without being able to watch it.

And we will, right? I mean, I'm gonna buy one just because. We can still watch it, I think, it just won't look any different on an older fashioned player.
But we're buying it, right?

Right?

MAL: You want me to sleep with her? That make you feel better?
WASH: It might!
MAL: Imagine it'd do wonders for her, too.
WASH: Screw you!
MAL: Get in line.. Okay. Gonna do it, then. Wash? Wash! First thing, we get back -- I'm taking your wife into my bed. Gonna get me a piece'a(ZAP!!)

hd dvd and blu ray are different things.

half the studios are going for hd dvd and the others for blu ray.

and yes blu ray isn't finalised yet. why would universal make copies of a disc if people can't use them?

oh and you can't play hd dvds on an "old fashioned dvd player, you need an hd player.

the difference in picture is scary.

http://www.cornbread.org/FOTRCompare/index.html

as example, showing picture differences.

i already have an hdtv, but not the dvd player

Maybe what I read was that it wouldn't look any different on an old fashioned TV, that you needed an HD TV to make it really worth it.
I don't care though, I'll buy a copy because it's a piece of the 'verse.
