I love Firefly music.

I especially love the bluegrass element. Fiddles and banjos-yeehaw! I have just craploads of bluegrass that I listen to all the time (Telluride Bluegrass Festival stuff is great)... in addition to many other kinds of music as well. I was curious to know what kinds of music y'all enjoy the most. I like just about everything. But I will be open to people who tell me to hate some kind of music or other.

The music of Firefly was one of it's big attractions to me also. If you haven't heard the CD's "Short Trip Home" (especially track 9, "Death by Triple Fiddle") or "Appalachia Waltz" (also the title of track 2, it will break your heart it's so sad and beautiful) I highly recommend both. Also try Mark O'Conner's "American Seasons" !

I don't know much about Bluegrass, I'll give Telluride Bluegrass Festival a try !

Bluegrass Rules! You and I seem to find more in common everyday. I like that.

I also listen to all kinds of music. Bluegrass, country, rock, Celtic instrumental, even some pop. Closest I get to rap is the Will Smith type stuff though. I’m not one for a lot of degrading lyrics and heavy bass beats.

In the(3 disk)CD player right now I have Trace Adkins (my absolute fave!!!!!), Evanescence, and Thirty Odd Foot Of Grunts. Quite a grouping huh?

I'm not necesarily a fan of this type of music, but in this case the music was very well done and fit the show perfectly. It set the mood of the show, and I loved it!

And the ballad of Serenity is still stuck in my head, I keep singing it over and over...

For those of you who can't wait for the official Firefly soundtrack, the soundtrack for the original (unaired) version of Serenity was largely borrowed from the soundtrack for the David Lynch movie "The Straight Story" by Angelo Badalamenti. Its available on CD and is really worth it. It's a little different in tone than the stuff done for the series, but overall the music for the series follows this style pretty closely.

On a side note, the movie "The Straight Story" is wonderful as well. Very atypical for Lynch, given that it is a G-rated Disney production and does, in fact give you basically a 'straight story' about an old man traveling across Iowa on a tractor to visit his brother. Incredible performance by Richard Farnsworth. Anyway, see if you can find the soundtrack at the very least.

Have you seen Stephen King's "The Stand"? Snuffy Walden did the score for that - and the Firefly music reminded me of that immediately. King described it as "back porch music". I'll look for Firefly cd soon.
