ELLIS

Hi all. Just joined the community and wanted to say hello and how I came to be here.

I came across Serenity a week ago in the video store. I had heard a little about it and knew it was some kind of sci-fi movie. I almost passed on it, but there wasn't much else I was interested in, so I picked it up.

I was hooked instantly! The opening scene was riveting and the scene where Serenity is entering the planet at the beginning was fantastic. I knew right then that the movie was going to be great.

What I didn't know was that the movie was from Firefly. I was doing some checking on the movie and stumbled across info about the series. Much to my dismay, I found out that the series was cancelled. So I ordered the series on DVD. Should be here in a few days and I can finally see what I've been missing. From what I've read, I definitely missed out on something truly original and great.

Anyway, sorry for such a long post.

Hi Ellis,

Welcome aboard!

Glad you loved the BDM - and if you liked that, then I just know you're gonna love FIREFLY when you get to see it.

Until then, make yourself at home and I'm sure someone will be by with a 'coat for you soon, plus no doubt some 'berries and other food. We like it when new folk find us, always good to have new people on board, and plus it means we get strawberries going around, always make a change from just the usual protein.

Nope, sorry, we're all full up on Browncoats here. Certainly no more room for another recruit. Just keep walking... :)

(Since sarcasm doesn't carry well in written form, I feel I must mention that the above was indeed sarcasm. Hence the smiley face :)

If this 'verse needs more of anything it's more Browncoats, so I'll take the opportunity say howdy and welcome to our little Haven out here in the black. I know what you mean about seeing the movie, as well. I'd only caught one episode when it was on air, and only checked out Serenity on a whim at the video store, too.

Yeah, either Joss is a master of subliminal brainwashing or him and the cast actually did go ahead and create something incredible, special, and, dare I say: shiny. Anyways, glad to have you aboard. I'm sure the welcome wagon will be rolling by any minute (if they haven't by the time I finish writing this.) And as far as long posts: well... I tend towards maximum verbosity myself, so don't feel bad :P

Sorry Whoops! I'd have waited if I'd known.

Waaah, I can't believe you've still got the series to watch! So, so lucky. Take a tip from another newbie; exercise restraint. Ration yourself. I did it all in 2 days. And was left feeling so very sorrowful. And a little like I'd had too much ice cream.

You're gonna have such fun. Looking forward to hearing what you think...

Many here followed the same path...

And heed my words: if you were intrigued by the characters in Serenity, you will DESPERATELY FALL IN LOVE with them in the serie...

Only important thing to do now is:
spread the word!

Ellis, Ellis, Ellis...
Can you tell how green with envy we all are to learn that you're a Firefly virgin?
All that sweetness yet to come.
Be prepared to fall utterly, hopelessly for FF.
Warmth, humor. Oh, and ruthless villainy.
"Crime and violence, sad to say." (Nandi in Heart of Gold)

While you wait, come to the galley and try some of our fresh strawberries. Tomatoes. Fresh bao. Wife soup. Cookies of all sorts (I think I saw some brownies brought aboard a while back). Ice-planets from the skyplex where we pick up our post. And rosemary, lots of fresh rosemary to spice up the protein.

The fish in the cooler is for the ShipsCat, so it's best to leave it alone or we'll have to make it up to her with extra cream from the supply we keep for the berries.

FollowMal, who issues the virtual browncoats, has her work cut out trying to track down all the newcomers, but I expect she'll be along presently.

Please come back to tell us how long you were able to make that boxed set last.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. It seems that this is a great group of people here brought together over a movie and a show that lasted a mere 14 episodes.

I've seen BDM used here and in other posts; what does it mean? (Yes, I'm new) Is it something I should wait and find out about in the series?

By the way, I was looking over at Amazon (where I ordered my DVDs from) and Firefly the Series is ranked #15 in sales overall! Can you believe it?! For such a short-lived show that ended years ago, that's just amazing. It definitely says a lot about the quality of the show. I can't wait for the DVDs to get here.

DONCOAT

BDM means Big Damn Movie, for reasons that you'll discover when you watch the episode called "Safe".

Yes, we all do wish we could erase our brains and see it all again for the first time. So savor it for us! Check in and tell us what you think of it, episode by episode, if you like.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't disagree on any particular point.
I kind of thought that's what it might mean, but I wasn't sure why it was referenced that way. Thanks for the info.
CRYBABY
Hey all,
You have another recruit to the cause.
My brother lent me the DVD boxset last week and I was hooked from the start. I watched the whole series back to back and then ran out to buy it for myself and the BDM.
I think the FOX exec. responsible for cancelling such a class show will be going to that special hell...
