I don't know if this has already been mentioned here (and I apologize if it has), but I was checking some things out online a few days ago and I stumbled upon something interesting.
Kristin Veitch is an entertainment columnist for E - Online and she's been taking questions and writing a bit about the new CW (a merger between the WB and UPN). Here's one of the questions she was asked:

I've heard the CW is considering bringing it back as a series, miniseries or movie for next season. Hurrah! For you who missed my message board posting, on Tuesday, Nate Fillion, Summer Glau and Gina Torres were seen coming out of one of the exec buildings at Paramount, where they are putting together the new CW unit.

...yeah... there was a bit of a fiasco about that around here not too long ago... ;p There's been a reply from Joss the Boss himself about it, though characteristically crpytic.

Ain't saying it's just hot air, but...

Anyways, worst case scenario, it's at least helping to keep the idea out there in the ether...

I was informed of this on another site I frequent (an art site) I didn't say anything here because I wasn't sure if they were "pulling my chain" as the old saying goes and I figured if it "twer" true it would make its way to the forum at some time. Very Glad it did.

I don't remember exactly when the whole CW rumour came out, and I don't see a date on the E-Online site where it came from. But the date on Joss' blog is for February 15th, and IIRC it took a little bit for him to respond, so this has been out for some time.

But again, on the bright side: it did raise enough of a ruckus, and had enough people trying to contact Joss for him to take notice. So at least it kept the idea floating around in the ether, so to speak. (IIRC there was also a bit of a letter-writing campaign offshoot for writing to CW congratulating them on deciding to pick up Firefly :) And: Joss is somewhat cryptic as usual about the rumour. And CW isn't even on-air yet, so... hey, who knows?

Myself? I ain't countin' the chickens before they hatch, but on the other hand... well, read the sig ;p
