Hi to all.

Ahhhh. The Veneto-System. Beautyful. I´ve been there twice! What a fantastic place. Call me Andrea Palladio.

Warm greetings from Allemagne

A.

The 4:1 against our Top-Ensemble of Super-Kickers was a bit over-the-top wasn´t it?! I´m Glad we were back on the track against the U.S. ;-)

Thanks Andrea although I'm not from Veneto ...lol
From Germany uh?
From where I live it takes 4/5 hours by car to be in Munich (Oktoberfest'n all...you know)

Welcome, GORRAMITALIAN!

Maybe we can get a browncoat for you from Prada.
Strawberries and other treats are in the galley.

Nice nick, lovely English. Had me fooled, too. My only Italian is for singing and cooking, sorry to say.
Studied Latin in school, though, LOL, and paid your beautiful country a visit many years ago.

I *do* enjoy hearing and reading English with foreign accents, as do a great many Americans, so nobody needs to feel shy about posting. The more the merrier.

But why not? The demographic is broader than we imagine, as we discover day by day.

Pause your way through the ball scene in Shindig and look at all the beauty.

Picture the scrumptious Inara in a present-day suit from Jil Sander, with a pair of great, flaming Manolos.

Personally, I favor the "Patience" look because I don't have to have it dry-cleaned.

I went to Italy with my family when I was about 14 (Milan and Venice, among other places) and I thought it was beautiful. That was many, many years ago! I'd love to go back.

I just can't tell everybody how happy I am that you've all let us know how widespread Browncoats are across Earth-that-still-is-for-now. It's so nice to know we're all together in this obsession, and in holding for Mal and the crew.

Brought more strawberries tonight for more newcomers!

I tried the apple thing and got a cut thumb for my trouble, but my chopstick technique is improving.

Lumpy mugs here are stoneware rejects. Hard on the teeth if you're not careful.

What a lovely bunch we are accumulating in this thread. Need FollowMal with some browncoats.

GORRAMITALIAN, how much is a Prada browncoat? The truly authentic (non-Prada) thing here, made of deerskin, is usually quoted at around 1200 USD. Too much for this fashionista.

allhailjosswhedon, perhaps we should organize a shout to lurkers in Asia to register and make their presences known.

I have a prezzie for you! Go here:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/feature.asp?f=45

and you'll find the script for the un-filmed Episode 15, Dead or Alive. There's some Jayne sweetness there which adds yet another dimension to the man. It also explains the top line of my sig, BTW. ::-)

The only way to get our show back is to convince those who would finance it that they would make money from it. That means our wet little eyeballs looking at a TV screen and/or our backsides planted in theater seats.

The more the word is spread, the bigger the fan-base, the more likely this is to happen. So wear your virtual browncoat with pride and share your enthusiasm for the show with others who might join our growing army.

Hello, Arya and Haze!

I've been to Brussels, and regret deeply I've never been to Ireland. I saw Ireland glowing green through gaps in clouds while flying over it and thought it must be beautiful. (Californians don't see much natural green until Winter, when rain brings the weeds up.)

Belgium I remember particularly for food. We were eating our way through Europe, more or less, though it was supposed to be an Art and Culture tour. So -- cuisine can be artistic, too.

And the drinking.... but we were very young, then, and resilient.

The most popular is called 'Duvel' or in English 'The Devil'. So resiliency is a must.

Haven't been to Ireland yet, but they say it's beautiful.
I have been to California and Oklahoma. Seen all the sights and parcs.
I stayed with a American-Korean family (mother Korean, father navy-veteran) and they were all into tofu and seaweed ...

I had planned to ask you about the level of the translation into Italian.

There is translation, and there is Translation.
A plain hack job renders the basic meaning of the lines (one hopes), but real translation brings in all the nuances, and Whedonspeak in SereniFly is often far from standard English. Not only does JW use his bleep-avoiding Mandarin, and "gorram" etc. but he also uses archaic words and constructions, and there is abundant slang.

For an easy example, in Serenity during the Lilac robbery, Mal refers to what they are doing as a "heist," which I'd call old-fashioned criminal slang for "robbery." In the Italian, is that translated into an old-fashioned criminal slang expression, or is it a standard modern Italian word?

Thanks Savewash (and others of course too)!
When I read the reviews of Serenity I was very excited. Everybody thought the movie was awesome!
So, since the movie was not available here we purchased it in the UK.

I especially looked forward to the action scenes with Summer. And they were great!!
I've always been a fan of troubled heroines...
And the humour was splendid, Mal was his great self (I'm female so...), and I loved the fact that the action scenes were not all flashy and moving! (Like for example the first battle scene in 'Gladiator' which made me very nauseous!)

It's like Davye said, it's nice to be surprised! A gem in the rough... I liked that description.

It took me a while but here's my answer. As I said before, in the translation they don't consider the mandarin at all so everything is converted into plain italian and so is a lot of typical Joss-speak: this way lot of the poetry is lost but I have to say they didn't do a bad job all things considered... I've heard a lot worse.
I have no idea about the robbery because they are up to Jaynestown and I've only seen the BDM in english. I'll let you know.
