to a potential Firefly fan. My friend has agreed to watch the show (after me constantly telling him to watch it).

Firefly= best damn show I've ever seen in my short, yet productive life

The pilot, Serenity. They're all good to me.

--------------------------------------------------
DOBSON: I'm supposed to be meeting my wife's sister. I've only got a few days to see her...

ZOE: I wish there was another way...

DOBSON: Oh, no, no. That woman is like a dragon. I mean, I believe she has a tail. If there's any other moons we need to visit, or if we could just
fly very slowly...

Serenity is great! It's best to start at the beginning.

However if 2 hours is too long, I recommend Out of Gas. It gives background and when asked which is you favorite on an earlier thread it seemed to be the most popular.

All the eps are great. I really like Train Job.

I agree. "Serenity" 1 and 2. Not the absolute best, but start with the beginning. If they still need convincing I might go with "Our Mrs. Reynolds" as a really clever, early episode. I'm in favor of watching in order wherever possible, however.

I played the show for a friend, starting with the first half of Serenity. Not being a huge sci-fi fan, a lot of things initially baffled her. Before we watched the second half, I quickly gave a variation on the "...Earth got used up..." opening. "Ohhh!" she said, and was henceforth hooked (Hi, ilikestrawberries!) I'd recommend giving friends a similar, non-spoiler exposition before you watch.

Everyone I know who's seen the show is hooked. Getting people to see it- Ah, that's the trick!

You should start him/her out on what episode you think he/she would like the most. Go from personality and tastes you already know. I showed Serenity 1 and 2 to my brother-in-law and his wife and now really regret it. I think if I'd started them with OMR or Ariel they would have enjoyed it more.

Showed "Shindig" to a goofy, lovey-dovey couple and they were hooked. "War Stories" to a guy whose life is beer and chicks and humor. You just have to present it right. The War Stories guy got lured in with "hot girl on girl action!"

And I, for one, think OoG should be spared and savored after they're just dying to know who came from where.
