Hmm... don't know how to take his response to the Sci-Fi channel suggestion.

Totally agree with him about Daniel Craig, he was great in Layer Cake.

Seems to me if Sci-fi has enough money for BSG and a host of crappy miniseries 'events', they have enough money for Firefly.

What was with the pigtail comment? Is that some industry jargon I don't know? Nathan sure didn't seem to get what he was talking about.

I thought that too - would it be considered too much of a step down?

There was a cartoon movie out recently called Hoodwinked (2005) aka "Hoodwinked! The True Story of Red Riding Hood" - USA (working title) and it probably had the three little pigs involved. If you can hear it, you can hear the interviewer mention pig tails Little Red Riding Hood.

So the interviewer was asking if Nathan would consider doing any other type of movie besides Sci/Fi/Horror genre like a cartoon or something. And the example the interviewer gave Nathan "pig tails" threw Nathan totally off.

So the interviewer and Nathan missed an opportunity to talk about Nathan's next movie Waitress Genre: Comedy / Romance. Which has already been filmed and is in post-production.

LOL
I didn't know what to make of this at first and I have to admit when I first saw that trailer, I felt kinda bad for Nathan cos I thought that it would go straight to the bargain bin without so much as a theatrical release.
But then I saw the second trailer and realised how funny it was, and I really wanna see it now

Dreamwatch reviewed it in their latest issue and gave it 8/10. Not bad eh?

Btw, www.davestrailerpage.co.uk is a good site for movie trailers, it allows you to download the trailer to your pc - that way you can watch it again and again (which I did when the Serenity trailer first came out)

I think Nathan was trying to figure out if Joss mentioned the Sci-Fi channel or if the interviewer knew something he didn't. And then started thinking would that be possible? Could Sci-Fi afford it? And then he answered the question with a question.

He did not say NO.

And remember Universal owns the Sci-Fi Channel.

And Sci-Fi Channel sells DVDs of BSG and StarGate shows.

Even if Serenity II comes out straight to DVD, it doesn't mean we won't be able to see it on the Big Darn Screen. There could be a limited city releases and special screenings.

And Browncoats could always arrange screenings like the June 23, 2006 screenings of Serenity for charity that are being arranged to celebrate Joss's birthday.

Did you notice the interviewer called Joss "Josh" at the end of the clip? And that Joss was courteous and didn't correct him?

And that Joss said he's almost finished with the Wonder Woman script... finally?

And that it seemed like Joss was kinda hammered?

Those movie premiers -- must be some kinda party.

I don't disagree on any particular point.

That's certainly the optimistic view, but he could have just been avoiding the question and thinking NO. Can't see him turning it down though, considering what the show means to him and Joss and the rest of the cast.

Outside of V FOR VENDETTA, this is the other March flick that I'm actually psyched to see.

I know it's been said, but SLITHER seems like a true cult flick. Not only do you have Nate Fillion in it, but you also got Michael Rooker, aka. Jerod Svenning from MALLRATS ("Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?") and Jenna Fischer, aka. Pam from THE OFFICE, who happens to be married to the writer/director James Gunn of DAWN OF THE DEAD fame.

So I'm buzzed to see it.

I don't know if anyone has already said this, but Sci-fi's Battlestar Galactica is ending as of this season. They've pretty much written themselves into a corner too.

So maybe that clears up some money for sci-fi...

New episodes of BSG start in October and I think that they have a lot more they can do. The cylons are only trying to rule them not destroy them now.

But it's human nature to not like being ruled. It's going to be interesting to see what they have in store for next season.

Not accurate re: BSG. I just listened to Ron Moore and David Eick's podcast companion to the season finale for S2, and they were talking about the first few episodes of season three and where they will be heading. As for writing themselves into a corner--did you SEE the season finale? They've just opened up a world of new possibilities with the twist they threw in in the last 20 minutes!

They did say that Edward James Olmos would not be back for S3, but I couldn't tell if they were joking, as they were horsing around about several things. But it is patent that they will be back. However, I'd love to see SciFi take the $$ they are throwing away on crappy mini-series, and use it to pay for a revived "Firefly"!

I haven’t seen the second half of BSG’s second season, so I can’t really say if they’ve written themselves into a corner or not. But what I do know is that they’ve been greenlit for a third season of 20 episodes, set to begin in October. So, BSG will be around for a while.

Thanks for the video interviews. My take on this is that a movie or two more is a real possibility, but the return of a series on Sci-Fi or anywhere else is less likely.

Thanks for the link - interesting. Man they looked zonked. Maybe it's just the excitement, adrenaline, ego-rush? Anyway it made me feel really funny to hear Nathan say he would like to have Mal get killed off at the end of a 3rd movie. I can unnerstand he wouldn't want anyone else to play Mal, neither would I, but to just say it like that - ow. Ow! Let me dream ok?
About the Sci-Fi Channel question - He did seem to hesitate for a minute before saying anything, this guy who never seems to be at a loss for words. I'm gonna pretend that's a conditional maybe. Just gotta dream on here.

In addition, two other actors in this list of interviews have appeared on Firefly! Gregg Henry played the sheriff in Train Job, and Andrew Bryniarski played Crow, Niska's henchman who Mal pushed into Serenity's engine, also in the Train Job.

You call that dreaming? I'm gonna pretend that he hesitated because he knew that there was a deal in progress and he wasn't supposed to talk about it and was wondering if it was leaked to this guy.

Slither in the genre sense reminds me of Eight Legged Freaks, anyone see that one? Giant mutated spiders take over a small midwestern town, but it's filled with some funny moments.

Yeah, just like Eight Legged Freaks, except for the MUCH better cast. Nathan Fillion vs. David Arquette?

Oh hey, I wasn't gonna say that out loud. Didn't know anyone else was thinking that too. Didn't wanna jinx it. Now we got to have at least 3 people thinking that out loud for good luck. Like this, to the tune of, "There's no place like home" -

Yeah, the Cylons have one god, the heroes have many (twelve, I think, but don't hold me to that). A big part of Season 1 was Six (the blond cylon) converting Baltar to the one god theory. Note that he now says 'God' while every other human says 'Gods above.'

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Nathan is a funny guy & he & Joss together are hi-larious.

I don't think Nathan honestly knows anything about the future of Firefly/Serenity right now. Even Joss does not know because like us & 'Versal he is waiting to see how the BDM DVD does in retail. Could be with enough sales we get another film. All we can do is keep pushing that DVD browncoats.

I am thinking I will support Nathan & go see "Slither" on the big screen.

you gotta admit that if sci-fi channel knew that half of us just started watching BSG because we were in WITHDRAWAL from the serenity 'Verse, they might realise just how big a new Firefly series would be (especially as all that 'raw' zoom handycam stuff on BSG was inspired by the Firefly fx!)
