What would happen in a new series?

I conjure this is probably a thread that's come up before, but I've only been here a few days (haven't even been given a browncoat yet, hint hint). I was wondering if people have any ideas about where they think the plot would actually go, if a new series were to happen.

Of course, Joss being Joss would entirely surprise us and I don't think there's too much danger that we'll spoil anything by speculating...

I'll go first. I reckon Zoe would be pregnant...

**Spoilers ahead**!!!!!

Ahem...on to answering the question. All we can do right now is speculate about what'll happen. It seems Mal will be a changed man after the movie and Zoe will be pulling herself together. Infact it's almost like they make a flip flop in a way.
Going on without Wash and Shepherd will be very difficult, for the fans that is. I'm hoping Joss will backtrack and show us some background on Shepherd or maybe even Wash and Zoe's wedding. One thing that makes me curious is, in Our Mrs. Reynolds, Wash mentions to Saffron that when they first met Zoe tried to... sounds like he said poison him. Maybe continue on with more flashback from that.

River's story is another thing. Simon will still be trying to figure out what exactly happened to River and maybe try to reverse it?? (that probably isn't possible but just covering all my bases). Well I could go on and on as maybe we all could. Thinking like this gives me hope that we'll get more Firefly/Serenity someday.

The series would start out great and just as the fan base is building again, FOX would buy the network it's running on and cancel the show.

Good idea. I think that war is coming. However, I don't think that the crew of Serenity will be choosing sides, per se. Instead, they'll probably will be trying to find their own place among all the confusion. Perhaps it will also lead to some interesting stories about Mal and Zoe's past.

You can sense a lot of what's going to happen from the dialogue in the last 10 minutes of the movie. From the conversation with the operative, to the exchange between Mal and Zoe, and then between Mal and River.

River: The storm's getting worse
Mal: We'll pass through it soon enough

No more than Walt Whitman was referring to storms and ships when he penned "O Captain, My Captain".

...you know, that makes me realize something. Reading "O Captain" with Serenity in mind can really change its meaning. It's quite fitting--well, if you replace Captain with another person, it's most definitely fitting.

...now I'm all sad again.

OK everybody
heres my $1.50 for the day.

What happens to the Firefly crew in the future. There are spoilers ahead so if you haven't seen the movie,

STOP HERE

1) Sheperd Book is found by the Serenity crew on another planet in episode #120. We come to find out that he was cloned and there are 50 other SBs around the universe. How eles is Gods word going to get out.

2)Inara: episode#135 becomes captain of "Serenity" the saying "clear the bridge the captains working" is chuckled by the crew.

3)Jayne: episode#60 is marooned on planet "Wom" where he is captured by natives(all women) and forced to do their bidding until episode#73.

4)Mal and Zoe are captured by the Alliance after the first attempt to rescue Jayne from planet "Wom" and are imprisoned on planet "P" yep the bug planet until their escape in episode#63

5)Simon remains on Serinity and starts a diary where he logs everything he would want to say to Kaylee but as of yet doesn't have the space balls to do it.

6) Kaylee cuts her hair and dawns a fake mustache to hide as the ships mechanic since her parents have sent out space detectives to find her.

7) Wash is picked up by the Alliance. Found not to be lifeless and is given donor organs.He is then sent to planet "T" for torture. Scewered with long shish-k-bobs until episode#80

8)River: she already knows all of this way ahead of time.Is she talking?

I don't know exactly what would happen but it would be simultaneously witty, insightful, emotional, frightening, tense, action-packed, ironic, and fuzzy. And at the end of the seond season we'd [WILL] all be amazed at the shocking ending where...something powerful and earth shattering happens that changes the crew's perspectives on life and each other.

Right after that, Jayne and River get married and Simon gets pregnant.

Isn't it obivious...The reavers would make an army and they would go to fight it like at the end of angel (Just the itty bittys)and then River would explode all of them with her brain, and they would find that spaceship is not the tradtion ride of the reavers and they would ride wargs to the aliance.. and then.....

It would cut to Joss who is lying in his bed saying, "WOW, what a weird dream...I'd better make this into a tv show"
