Hi,

It looks like I might be able to persuade a few ppl to buy DVD's. From the long term point, what is better - to ask them to buy Serenity or Firefly?

I think Serenity would be better. This way Universal gets a hint. WHile FireFly - the money gets Fox, and it has no rights for this any longer, right?

What do You think?

Keep flying.
Doffe.

Serenity made me a browncoat by showing me how damn fresh the 'Verse Joss created is, so that I'd go back and see how it all began with Firefly, and in turn it heightened the experience for me. But I'd say let them see some of Firefly first.

I think Firefly is the more addicting choice.

After all, you get 14 episodes and all of that amazing diversity in plots and the complexity of their relationships. :)

If those people prefer a darker mood with shock effects and such then show them Serenity first. They will love the death of "you know" for its relentlessness (as I do).

If they are more into lighthearted and uplifting stuff show them Firefly first.

From the long term point, if you manage to get someone to buy Firefly then you know there's a 95+ percent chance they'll end up buying Serenity too ;)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Agreed.

If you have to pick one, get them to buy the Firefly set first. Odds are very good they will love it, finish it in less than two weeks, then want more. When they do you point them to Serenity.

I'd say get them to buy Serenity. First, it's a bit cheaper, so they're more likely to give in. But mostly, I agree with what someone posted a bit ago. We need to support this movie so they will make a sequel! (Personally, I would support what I think Sci-Fi channel will do, and that would be a mini-series.) I saw the movie first, and it stands on it's own, then I found out there was a series and I just had to see it. Get them to buy the movie.

Believe it or not I didn't like Firefly until after I saw Serenity. So I say Serenity.

I'm a Ringer.
I'm a BROWNCOAT.

That's what I think too. I guess financially and future wise is to buy the movie.

Even I'd prefer the series.

And what do they do again ? I missed that part, sorry...

I think this is a very hard question to answer.

Personally, I only thought that Serenity was 'Good' and not 'Great' when I first watched it. Watching the TV series was an amazing experience.

The TV is better value for money, but the sales of the film are more likely to lead to more films....

Buying Serenity would be best for the continuation of the series, but buying Firefly is the preferred way to get into the 'verse.

No, but it is a definite option for Universal if they don't want to do a big budget movie. Sci-Fi is part of the NBC-Universal family.
