I am a newb with a few posts already under my belt. I watched Train Job but I was lousy about religiously watching anything before I got a tivo. By the time I came back for more I couldn't find the show again (hmmmm wonder why). So technically I was hooked via the BDM. After which I bought the BDS dvds and hooked my fiance. Serenity on dvd and several other family members now hooked, I realized that there is nothing like sharing the joy and pain (of waiting and wishing for more) that is Firefly/Serenity, so I joined y'all here. So here's my first thread:

The BDS stoked remembrances in me old noggin of a briefly aired space western cartoon in the 80's: Bravestarr. Anyone else remember Marshall Bravestarr battling Tex Hex on the planet of New Texas?

I do recall it, and my son had some of the toys, but I greatly preferred "Tales of the Galaxy Rangers", which had better writing, though sadly no toy tie-ins. I'd love it if someone put out a box set.

Shiny! I forgot about the Galaxy Rangers. They have story arcs on DVD (4-5 episodes a piece), but no box set. You can find some used copies on Amazon for relatively cheap.

SIXSHOOTER

Damn Straight!

I still have my Sandstorm figure but he's missing his cool water shooty attachments.

The movie was kick arse too.
The bit at the end where the whole town becomes a fortress was wicked.

See, the trick to Bravestarr was that it was the first cartoon made in-house by Filmation.
Instead of Mattel coming to them with a toy to base a cartoon on (like He-Man) they went to Mattel with an idea.
And what happened was Mattel released the toy early to take advantage of the coming Christmas only the cartoon wasn't finished yet and without the tie-in it sank.

Pity, It totally rocked socks
That info on that site left out one of the coolest dudes.
Handlebar, he was the blue dude with the handlebar mustache that ran the saloon, I think he was kinda like a gentleman boxer or something.

Oh man that's depressing.
I can remember all that junk and yet I still haven’t managed to memorize my damn mobile phone number.
Pathetic.

Bravestarr! I was thinking about this the other day. thirty thirty was my idol. 10 cool points to anyone who can (without cheating) remember all his animal like attributes in the theme song; Eyes of a hawk, speed of a puma? Ears of a rabbit? Grip of a crab?? I forget.

STORYMARK

I watched both of those shows as a kid. To this day, at random intervals, I get the theme song to Galaxy Rangers stuck in my head, even though I havn't seen an episode in nearly 20 years.

"No guts no glory...."

God, it'll be with me the rest of the day.

The complete series for both Galaxy Rangers, and Bravestarr are available on dvd. Both series are split into 2 volumes. each volume contains about 34 episodes.
BCI just went out of business though so the Bravestarr dvd's may prove difficult to track down.
