FALCONOCLAF

Hey for all you Coloradoans out there (or people in Kansas who WISH they were from Colorado) there is a thing at the world famous Redrocks Amphitheater where you can request a film, they show it just after dark with a live band and a short cartoon. I went last year, when they showed Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and there were people selling coconut shells.... Well it was a hoot!
Then I thought to my self, rather than 200 Monty Python fans and some random people who just want to see a cheep show at world famous Redrocks, why not have 200 BROWNCOATS and a few score people who show up for a random cheep show at the world famous Redrocks? So I emailed the event coordinator, and tried my best to sway him to our view, but my one email wont do nothing’ with out the rest of ya'll!

So email the guy at: ron.garrison@ci.denver.co.us
Also visit the Website for more info: http://www.redrocksonline.com/index.tml
Tickets for the shows would be $10, so this is an excellent chance for Browncoats to get together with out busting the bank. So let get rollin’ folks! Time’s a wastin’!

Now I am learning about scary.

Well, I'm from Nebraska, currently in Kansas, and I have relatives in Colorado, and I think this is worth a bump.

Are there 200 Browncoats within driving distance of Denver? If so, sounds like a good idea to me.

Anybody else?

Okay, people, I sent an e-mail to the guy that falconoclaf listed and I told him that he might hear from several folks from this forum!

Please don't make me a liar! We can do this!

If I was still living in Boulder I would be there like a shot. What an absolutely fantastic venue, could you try have it shown ona full mooon night. Having themoon come up over the stage is up there with watching Serenity break atmo.
I shall encourage friends in the area to come if you can get this up and happening. (even though I live on the other side of the world)

Hey falconoclaf,

You might want to change the subject of your post to Colorado Screening/Shindig at Redrocks??

LadyShelley would like permission from you to forward this info.

I did not think we needed permission. Guess I am not a Lady because I posted a link without getting permission.

Let me know if you get one, so I can add it to the "Regular Showings" list on Can't Stop The Serenity. Or make it a benefit and it'll go in that section. ;)

Please send an e-mail to the guy listed at the top in the original post. We probably can't make it happen if the guy never hears that we want it to happen.

No, I just won't let this thread die! (even though it isn't mine)

I just wanted everybody to know that I got an e-mail response back from Ron Garrison. All he said was "Thank you" but I take that as a positive. At least it isn't negative.

I hope some other Browncoats will also e-mail him and we can make this happen. (See the e-mail address in the first post of this thread.)

I'd love to see you at Red Rocks!

ALNIZZLE

I saw this posted at the "other" Brown Coats site, and wanted to give anybody listening this info:

Got a response back:

Thanks. Just to let you all know, that it's not a question of the number of votes that determines the films. Many other things work into the equation. Thanks for all your interest though![/i

Don't know what the "other things" are, but hopefully enough people will show there interest to make it worth there while.

Another response:
Hi,
Thanks so much for your Film on the Rocks suggestion. SERENITY is a great film but unfortunately we don’t think the film would bring the number of people we need to attend each film up at Red Rocks in order to break even on the summer series. Believe me, I’d love to show that and a number of other lower profile films at FOTR but we just can’t justify it. We need larger titles to bring more than 3500+ people to the show.
Thanks again for your feedback. We’ll have this year’s line-up announced in May.

Best,
Lindsay

So we need like 3500+ emails to these guys.

I went ahead and forwarded this to the Mile High Browncoats, they're emailing as well. Also one of them actually works with the guy arranging this; don't know how much that will help but we do have a bit of an inside line so to speak.

Actually, I think it means he needs to know 3,500 people WILL show up. You may just end up annoying him because he cannot tell if the emails represent real people who will buy tickets, show up and buy popcorn etc.

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/MileHighBrowncoats has 237 members. Are there other Colorado Browncoat groups? If there are only 237, each Browncoat would have to bring 14 people.

Does the theater allow people to buy advance tickets to a possible show?

Does the theater allow groups to co-sponsor a screening? Or allow individuals or groups to guarantee a certain number of seats sold.

How about an off-time like midnight or a Tuesday or something?

Does the theater allow people to raise money for charity at the screenings?

Remember June 23, 2006 is Joss's birthday and Browncoats are trying to arrange charity screenings on that day.

http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/

It is possible!

New York Browncoat arranged a 2,800 seat theater in Albany, NY for June 23, 2006 http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=17960

Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Oregon-US States with Serenity June 23, 2006 Charity screenings being arranged by Browncoats!

Eh, sorry for not responding to everyone earlier, my computer crashed…

To Ladyshelly: go ahead and post this anywhere you can think of!

To Alnizzle: 3500 is a lot! Perhaps if this guy is so worried about the number of people, we can do a double feature with something?

To Anonymous1: If numbers are the main issue, we could get a few adds in the papers around Denver. Also we could see if it could get tacked on another film like they do at the drive-in theaters.

For the charity stuff, and the group tickets, I’ll email and ask, but I need to know what Group/organization we would be using, and who runs it. Also what charity if we do have one?

This is my first time doing something like this so lots of input would be good!

RIVER: I know you have questions.
MAL: That would be why I just asked them.

It depends. For those fans trying to do charity screenings on June 23, the point is to raise funds for Equality Now ( http://www.equalitynow.org/) which is Joss' favorite charity (and the 23 is his birthday, after all).

If not on the 23rd, then it's not as crucial to select Equality Now (although, obviously, you can), and you could just as easily pick any organization you think is deserving.

Ok....

Part of the reason they cant/wont show it is that the projector needs 35mm prints to work.

Trying to rent the place is $7500+ even with charity discounts and not including staff, parking, and other services.

So..... Anybody win the lotto of late?

Is there anywhere else in/around Denver that someone has an idea for? I really would like to do something for June 23.

Never goes smooth. How come it never
goes smooth? ~Mal

Here are some theaters that screened Serenity in Colorado earlier:

Screened Serenity in November 2005.

CO 80012 Aurora Buckingham Mall Cinema
CO 80013 Aurora Cinema Grill
CO 80401 Lakewood United Artists Colorado Mills Stadium 16
CO 80030 Westminster Westminster 5

Screened Serenity in December 2005.

CO 80012 Aurora Buckingham Mall Cinema
CO 80231 Denver Tiffany Plaza 6 Here is a Denver one

Also there are 6 pages of theaters showing movies near this zip code 80231.
http://www.fandango.com/TheaterListings.aspx?pn=1&location=80231

If you click on a theater's name it goes to another screen that has a phone number for the theater...don't know if you can reach a human with that number though.

Good luck!

You should probably remove the email address to the Redrocks theater in the top post. You could also change the post to Colorado Serenity Screening??? or start a new posting.
