The television program pickings are getting really slim these days. What are ya'll watching that would be worth a look? Anything you're excited about for next season?

If Nathan's show gets picked up that's it for next season. I haven't seen a damn thing worth watching next season.

After 24 gets done I'm not even watching Fox anymore. Still gonna watch Angel, CSI, ER, Scrubs and if Tremors gets another season that too. My Mom got me hooked on CSI and ER mainly because I have to tape them for her since she can't see them when they're on. There is just no quality television anymore.

I honestly haven't sat down in front of a television since Serenity aired. I take that back, I did watch the Jayhawks lose at a friends house a few weeks ago, but apart from that I've developed a pretty nasty allergy to television. 'Course my TV broke right after Firefly got cancelled so I haven't exactly had the choice, but I sure haven't had any incentive to replace it either.

Did it just leap off the stand and impale itself on your foot/fist/object thrown at it?

Not sure, the very next friday after Serenity, at about 8:30, it just started smoking then let out this high pitch wail of agony. I think it just couldn't bear to go on. Can't say as I blame it.

Shows that I still watch are pretty scarce at the moment. I watch The Shield and Monk on cable but those are both in their periods of hiatus. Without a Trace is actually a surprisingly good procedural show. And they've so far managed to get by without using bad legalese to create false drama (looking at you Law & Order) and Anthony Lapaglia is quite good as the lead.

I've also started to watch Lucky on FX. Its a surprisingly good dramedy about a compulsive gambler/former world champion poker player. The second episode was an improvement on the pilot and Dan Hadeya seems to be a reoccuring character. I've also been watching Buffy, though my enjoyment has become less over the years. Some of the pilots for next season look promising but I'm not going to go out on a limb until I see the announcements (though Silvio Horta, who is sort of a poor man's Joss Whedon, has a pilot in the works for UPN that could be interesting).

Nathan
"It looks like a great adventure...That's what it is; that's what it feels like. When I saw the pilot, it was really engaging. It was exciting. It was unusual. It threw me off every now and then. I think people will be grabbed by it." - Ron Glass, on the pilot, during an interview with the Indianapolis Star

Mal: "We're stilly Flying"

Simon: That isn't much.

Mal: Its enough.

I find myself not watching much conventional TV these days... mostly discovery channel and such.

Shows I watch:

American Chopper (best 'reality' series ever... actually, it may be the only good one ever...)

Buffy (four more episodes left)

Angel (man, what a crazy turn this show has taken...)

Everwood (reminds me of The Waltons...)

Gilmore Girls (love the dialog...)

Lizzie McQuire (Hillary Duff is going to be the biggest star in Hollywood, you just wait and see...)

I've started watching Lucky too and really like it. Even though I'd seen the commercials for it quite a few times, I laughed really hard at the jousting golf carts scene.

Other than that: 24, The Simpsons, Six Feet Under, SITC when it comes back, STTNG and That 70s Show.

Since Firefly went bye-bye, Buffy is the only show I watch religiously, and when that goes ... well, I'm just glad I have a DVD player and lots of horror movies. I do catch 24 and CSI when I don't have anything better to do, but ... TV's just seemed like a vast, pathetic wasteland after Firefly.

24- it's on fox, but it's still real good.
Six Feet under- maybe the best show on TV.
Buffy: The Vampite Slayer- Going out on a high note.
Angel- Best season so far.

All I have to watch now is Buffy, Angel, and Platinum, after Firefly's hiatus & cancellation; Futurama's frequent pre-emption and cancellation; Miracles' cancellation; and with Alias, Charmed, and 24 all becoming crap.

After Buffy, ends, assuming neither Angel nor Platinum gets cancelled (please!), I'll be down to two hours of TV per week (and the average American watches 56!). Hopefully, there'll some good new shows.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Since Firefly? Not much really.

I watch The Shield but it is on hiatus now. Of course I watch Buffy tVS, which of course is now ending the end of this season. Figures. I watched Lucky but the jury is still out on whether or not I will continue to watch.

I have checked out Tremors on Sci Fi, but it is more for the fact it is a campy, silly sci fi show than any real meaningful plot or seriously good acting.

That's about it.

i DO aim to misbehave

the Monday through Friday schedule at my house:

Stargate SG1 (old and new), Third Watch, CSI: Miami, Buffy (only if it's new), Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Angel, Enterprise, West Wing, Roar (despite being edited within an inch of it's life--you see how desperate i am?), Friends, CSI, Will & Grace, ER Two Guys and a Girl reruns for my Nathan fix, Highlander to catch up on first-season stuff i missed, and at least part of a Firefly episode every other day (i gotta spend some evenings at the drawing board, people, come on). yes, the VCR gets a heckuva weekly workout. three in all, two that work decent. can't wait for TiVo to get reasonably priced.

Friday is a good night to go out again because John Doe keeps getting pushed back to the wee hours by basketball or hockey. it was never as good as Firefly anyway. the pilot was, but i must be way too up on my conspiracy-theory TV because it was getting awfully predictable. i lose patience pretty quickly.

next season? well let's see, i'll definitely be giving Alligator Point a look-see, same with Eliza Dushku's new series. otherwise i'm pretty much not thinking that far ahead. once again i'm reluctant to get my hopes up about anyting for fear i'll get hooked and have it snatched away. i was watching Veritas: The Quest before ABC put it's war coverage special on. not to put down any and all war coverage, but even if all you get is local TV, i'm thinking the war is on plenty without a weekly recap.

Although not a sci fi show, The West Wing is a well written show. It is very smart, warm funny and keeps my interest throughout. Joss even commented that he admired the writing.

Aside from that I'm watching Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Buffy, Angel Friends and ER. However I am not really enjoying ER this year.

Hmmm...since Firefly (and my brief infatuation w/ the doomed Haunted)...
I watch
Buffy
Angel
Enterprise
sometimes I'll watch Friends, That 70's show or some other rerun...actually some of them might be new episodes...but usually I watch them in the afternoon when I get home from school so they're probably reruns. I miss my satellite so much. Many nights a week I just pop in a Firefly tape simply because I can't make myself watch the crap on the tv live. I only get 5 channels anyway.

I keep the tv on for background noise, but rarely watch anything.

I do watch:

Trading Spaces
What NOT to Wear
Faking it

The above are the only 3 reality shows that I will watch. They aren't mean, and people actually get something out of them.

CSI - the Las Vegas one only
Law & Order: CI
Without a Trace
Dragnet, for however much longer it will be on.

I just started watching the reruns of Stargate.
Other than that I watch the forensic shows like the New Detectives, and Cold Case files. I watch a lot of discovery, TLC, A&E, and History channel. I might as well feed my brain since I'm no where near a school anymore.

Likes to mess with stuffs.

Here's my list of "current" shows broken up into genre in no particular order of preference.

Drama:
24, The Guardian, Practice, ED, 24, ER, CSI, Dawson Creek.

Genre:
Buffy, Angel, Dead Zone, Smallville, Black Sash, Enterprise, Twilight Zone, Alias, John Doe

Comedy:
Everybody Loves Raymond, Scrubs, Friends, Will & Grace, Good Morning Miami

Animation:
Futurama, Simpson, Trigun, Innuyasha, Samurai Jack, .Hack//Sign, Rurouni Kenshin

I actually watch a lot more, but they're either reruns (i.e. Farscape, Cowboy Beebop, Justice League, Yu-Gi-Yo, etc..) or syndicated (Stargate, Seinfeld, etc.).

Reality Series:
Okay, so I watch American Idol. I think Ruben whupass.

And if you hadn't noticed by now, I watch a lot of cartoons and anime. I also read a lot of comics. So now you know.

--Angel, which has lately taken a turn for the bizarre but is still leaps and bounds better than Buffy. And, um, I'll see anything with Gina Torres in it.

--Six Feet Under, the best show on TV right now

--Gilmore Girls, because of the snappy dialogue, good acting, and, of course, Kirk

--Buffy and The West Wing, out of sheer loyalty (and, um, I'll see anything with Nathan Fillion in it)

I thought Miracles had promise, until they killed it and cemented my deep bitterness towards network television. I may start watching Lucky, because it sounds like it could work. And I guess that's it!

Nothing.

Not a damned thing...

I killed off the "idiot box" rather permanently somewhere back in the whole OJ media circus when I became utterly convinced that nothing unique or original was EVER going to come out of it.

Firefly surprised me, I do catch occasional (thankfully only occasional) glimpses of the garbage other people watch, and for some reason the teasers for Firefly caught my eye and I figured what the hell, not like I don't have an off button in case it sucks as hard as *everything* else on TV these days.

The ONE decent show on TV and Fox had to murder it, boy are they , some folks tend to hold a serious grudge about things like that, and I'm one of em.

To replace it with trash like "fastlane" was an even worse insult... nothing more than a yuppie rewrite of miami vice and lacking in anything even resembling originality, not to mention the whole premise of "john doe" has been done before, to death...

GAAAAHHH!!!

I can tell you what I won't be watching, that "show" with Monica Lewd-insky. Does that look like it will suck or what (pun intended!).

Futurama-Simpsons-King of the Hill-Malcolm in the Middle
Samari Jack
Enterprise
John Doe
