Oh my!

I went into Woolworths today where not only do they have a big (well, not that big) Serenity stand, but also, I checked the cheart, and it's #1!

Then to my complete surprise, I saw that Firefly was #2! They haven't been selling it for aaaaages and now it's the 2nd most popular DVD this week!!

Serenity was also #1 in Morrison's.

Serenity is also #1 on Amazon.co.uk's dvd top sellers. Firefly is no 5 (even though it's out of stock and a 2 week delivery estimate)

i saw someone else buying it in hmv yesterday, and at 10am the displays were already looking a bit empty which is a great sign!

Woo-Hoo!

That's really astounding, especially about Firefly leaping back into the spotlight. Hurray for the Brits who appreciate good storytelling.

I pre-ordered mine from hmv.co.uk, not only was it a hmv exclusive with six art cards, it was only £13.99, ontop of that i got a further 10% discount with my NUS student card which put it down to £12.49. It was fantastic, it was delivered on friday morning, THREE days before official release date.

WOO HOO.

Serenity is currently number 1 in woolworths but i havnt seen any stands.

Do they let the public have the point of sales stuff or does it get either sent back or thrown.

I wanna get my self a stand, i got myself a few posters but i wanna a point of sale stand.

Chris.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I am sure that the DVD release in the UK will net us some new fans, but I truly hope they will constitute a "flood". We could sure use more people to spread the word.

Uhm, I'm new here... Yeah, not that I'm just now a browncoat, nah, I was converted over Christmas, thanks to a Firefly marathon in my friend's house - having been skeptical starting out, after watching Serenity Parts 1&2 and then Train Job, I was hooked...

Because I hadn't seen Serenity beforehand, and 'twas outta the cinema by then, I avoided everything spoiler-y, until a "friend" of mine texted me after seeing Firefly saying how he now felt so much more for the crew after

..

Went into HMV in Dublin yesterday morning, and bought Serenity, but couldn't watch it til late last night, cause of college. It was incredible though, and I can't WAIT to convert everyone I know!

Lovely friend you have there. Welcome aboard - when you see FollowMal, be sure to ask her to issue you a regulation Browncoat from ship's stores.

Hear, hear! Not only have the Brits rescued Americans from our own crappy TV shows, they're also doing their part to keep Firefly and Serenity alive!

From Texas to the UK, keep it up!

Nice to see it above Wallace and Gromit on amazon.co.uk right now - Wallace and Gromit was only released on DVD one week earlier and had 10 times the box office in the UK. Serenity is definitely doing much better on DVD than it did in cinemas.

With all the money you saved why not get yourself the collector's tin edition as well - I got mine and it's a beauty!

I can actually see that now, Nathan, in a dress, to the strains of the Sex Pistols.

(um, yes, to everyone who is not me and therefore didn't get that, it was an extremely vague allusion to the Sex Pistols song, yeah, i'll go away now)

Yey, us brits! I'm off to get my copy tomorrow

Good to see you delurk here Pinky, have a brew.

Mudders Milk; All the carbs and protiens of your
mothers best turkey dinner.... plus 15% alchohol.

Followmal will be along with your kit. And Kaele's one of our better cooks who makes really tasty fresh Bao.

As for your friend, may he go to that special hell for doing the unthinkable. My brother mentioned something that wasn't a big spoiler, but it still pissed me off. When I go to certain movies I WANT to be oblivious and new to the experience. Don't let him have a sip, no matter how much he begs.

And cheers to our UK Browncoats, you'll do it I'm sure, get us over that mark, but I sure wish we had a pretty tin over here. Maybe soon.

They still have Woolworths over there? I haven't seen a Woolsworths since the mid 80's.

Only flaw in that FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC plan is that i dont have a multi region player.

Although it doesnt say what region the disc is formatted for, im not good with dvd regions, forgive me.

Might look into it though, just to have the tin and stuff.

Well you are missing out Chris as some region releases are superior to others - see this site for details:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/

By buying from overseas you can get stuff before it is released in the U.K. and you may even get it cheaper, although you can get lumbered with tax - I haven't yet!

There may be a 'handset hack' (a sequence of key presses) for your DVD player to allow it to play multi-region. Do a google search for handset hack. Failing that they can be modded by the addition of a chip. Another option would be to get a multi-region player, Richer Sounds have one for less than £30 - useful to get one which also plays AVI DIVX files - very useful for those emule downloads!

If using a computer DVD player the program 'ANYDVD' is invaluable for region freedom as is Clone DVD for backup copying:
