Not a particular fan of Science Fiction - enjoyed the original Star Wars when I was a kid, same for when they showed the original Star Trek reruns on tv. Philip K. Dick is a favorite author, but SF only begins to describe his writing.

Never liked Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Didn't know the creator/writer at all. I do remember a few adds for Firefly when it was briefly on Fox. I probably saw River and Simon and I thought it looked like one of those teen shows. Dawson's Creek in space. No thanks. So I never watched. Thought it was interesting when a feature film was released based on a failed tv series, but other than that I didn't care.

Don't know what possessed me to put the series on my Netflix list last month, but I did, and from the first few minutes I was hooked. Finished the series and the film in a week. Watched them all again. Ordered both - new - from Amazon.

Sorry to be one of the million reasons why this show was cancelled, but I'm on board now, and hopefully my small purchase and recommendations to friends will help keep the idea for continuing this particular world alive.

You know, the Mormon church believes that all children under the age of 9 (7?) who die will go to "heaven" (Their particular version) just as if they've been baptised. Once you pass that age, and your not baptised, you won't reach the highest level of heaven.

I think we can do something similar. If you watch Firefly and become a browncoat by a certain date (March 1st, anyone?), you are acquitted of your sins. If not, we tar and feather you and auction your house. Proceeds go to Save the Fireflies Foundation.

You're here now and that's what matters. Anyone that realizes the amazingness of the show and joins us in the trenches is a welcome addition. We ain't beaten yet and so long as we need to, we'll hold the line.

Don't feel bad about it, I never watched the series when it was on and wasn't that interested in the movie. I started hearing the word going around about how good the early screenings were, and I did really like Angel, so I decided to go check it out and bring a few friends with. We're all hooked on it now, I've watched the movie 4 times and every episode atleast twice.

Yea. Don't feel bad.

For years I ignored a good friend of mine who tried and tried to get me to watch Buffy and I flatly refused for no good reason other than I was judging the show by the crummy movie I had halfway glimpsed in 1992. I therefore cared not for Angel either. Then when he handed me a Firefly DVD set in 2004 I was like "Yea...whatever...I'll get around to it."

Within a week of watching Firefly I found myself watching all of Buffy and Angel. Within a year I owned all 7 seasons of buffy and 5 seasons of Angel not to mention multiple copies of the Firefly DVD to give out.

So don't feel bad dude. Welcome to the fold and please show Firefly to someone you know who has never seen it.

Do not fear me. Ours is a peaceful race, and we must live in harmony.

I've seen the show since the beggining, and the cancelation was a heavy blow, but instead of burying the show and silencing the fans Fux did the opposite, and now here ye be.

I'm the friendly bartender round here, so have yourself a pint and welcome to this wonderful Verse.

I only saw the BDM about 7 weeks ago (and then I saw FireFly); and people have been real forgiving about it. So, neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more! :)

P.S. Welcome to the crew! You can ask FollowMal for your official browncoat.
