fly very slowly...

On my way to school I was trying to change CD’s with my right hand, shift with my left and drive with my knee and of course ended up swerving all around. When I hit the next red light I looked over past the passengers seat, to where the camera would have been (but was really an older lady in her car next to me) and said with a little laugh “I’m driving like sh**”. The lady didn’t get it, but it made me happy.

and savor them all with equal relish. we know how she feels about chocolate--and how happy am i that JW automatically assumed there's chocolate in the future!!

a friend of mine made caramel rolls for breakfast on Sunday that were to DIE for! may have to make them a Kaylee specialty, something she makes when she's got all the fixin's.

the same friend and i watched all the eps from beginning to end over the weekend--first time since I got the DVD set. now she's voraciously trying to score a set of her own. she kept comparing Mal to Han Solo. can't be no higher honor to my way of thinking.

Thanks to you folks on this site, many things I normally would not have associated with Firefly now make me think of it (as if I don't think about it enough anyway).

Dixie Chicks (hey Succatash, got a stick I could use to poke out my mind's eye? (kidding)
Crappy drivers
Reality shows (GRRRRRRRR!GnashGnashGnash!)
Smokes & chocolate chip cookies
Garbage trucks
Navy nukes (they're people, not weapons).
Chili
Toast
Beat up cars with stickers all over them
Mopar

I could go on and on, but you get the picture...

NOOCYTE

Okay, so, first of all, I'm a shrink by trade (or, ideally, by check) (har-har).

Recently, I became aware of the fact that that, oftentimes, instead of saying: "how do you feel about that?" I'm catching myself saying "How're you farin' with that?"

Actually, I kinda like this, as it helps me by-pass the cliche, and is a nice, folksy way of saying the same thing.

Oh yeah, and, tonight I watched an interview with Madonna. She broke into an impromptu version of "Like a Virgin (choke! Cough!)," and when the line came along: "Shiny and new" I found myself chuckling (eliciting an amusing eye-roll from the wife).

I could (and very likely will) go on...

From Soraya’s site…. http://www.nathan-fillion.de/

“...Nathan is a distant relative of the Civil War general Jubal Early, and mentioned the name and the story at some point to Joss Whedon, and Joss ran with the name for a character the Firefly episode "Objects in Space".”

Cool huh?

I am new to FF and have just the other day completed seeing all the shows and the gag reel. Plus I’ve read the scripts posted here for “Trash”, “Heart of Gold”, and am anxiously awaiting the rest on “Dead or Alive”.

What made me think of FF lately? Well, I think about it all the time at work since Mal is my wallpaper. But seriously, where I work is a rumor mill so stories are always going around about someone “doing” someone else. I was talking to one of the team leaders about it and joked that they were probably talking about us since we were talking “alone”. Anyhow the thing that then popped into my head just then was Zoe saying “Take me Sir. Take me hard.”

Here is a list of thing that make me think of Firefly:

1. Books about dinos or stuffed dinos: I think of Wash when I see these items.
2. Watching anything that flys: Planes, birds, and dragonfly.
3. Finding myself saying "shiney" about a lot of things.
4. My mother's car: It's old but still keeps running just like Serintiy.
5. A nice, clear night so you can look at the stars.
6. Clouds that are shaped like Serinity.
7. A good, old bar bralw in a counrty movie: I see Mal , Zoe and Jayne amounst the other fighters.

i here ya. i often find myself humming the theme at work, singing the lyrics under my breath.

on Angel last night, Jasmine's new flunky was named "Patience" and Gina said the name pretty deliberately twice. add that to the use of "I will end you" on Buffy and i'm still thinkin' JW is trying to tell us something.

in Serenity, Wash was using a serious "radio puke" sales-guy voice for the stegasaurus. so now if i hear someone on the radio using it (usually jokingly) it always harkens me back.

Yep, we are one of the few departments (Quality and Regulatory Operations) that still has internet access at our desks. Hopefully they ever look into what I "do" with that access. This site isn't exactly business related, but hey, we tend to get away with a lot of things on third shift. No daytime brass looking over your shoulder all the time.

I had a firefly dream last night. Actually it wasn't so much a Firefly dream as it was a Browncoat dream.

All us Browncoats were somehow all crammed in my house and having a party. It lasted like three days and we trashed my house. But instead of cleaning up the mess, I just left it, went on the road and started living out Sarahetc’s Browncoat Chronicles.

When I woke up it felt like that scene out of Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up. I kept waiting for all of you to show up around my bed so I could say “But it was real. And you were there Sarah. And you too Talrius. And Maniac, and Succatash, and Hotforkaylee, you were all there!”

Was there a hot tub involved? Was Haken there moderating the party? Of course Firefly was on the big screen, right?

I had a dream today. Details are a bit fuzzy, but it seems as though I was part of the crew. I think I may have been Kaylee.

We were in a town and it was busy. We were sort of caravanning goods in a line of vehicles through crowded streets. I was riding with Wash. All of a sudden we could see purple smoke coming from the vehicle in front of us. I knew something bad was about to happen so I yanked Wash down in the seat before an explosion went off. When it blew our vehicle went flying sideways into a building. We were scratched and bruised, but ok none the less. The first thing we did was start to look for the rest of the crew. We found Jayne and Book right away since they had been right behind us. (I think River, Simon, and Inara were still on the ship because we didn’t look for them) Mal and Zoe were no where to be seen.

We all started to look through the crowd. Some were only minorly hurt, and some lay dead. It took forever and I was getting deathly worried because there was still no sign of them. Finally we spotted Mal and Zoe sitting in a building with a group of people injured from the blast. They were being treated for minor injuries. I was so relieved that they were ok. I ran right up to Mal, hugged him, kissed him, started crying, and held onto him like I was never going to let him go. I was so afraid he had been killed.

Then I woke up…………(dammit)

Y'all have great dreams. I dreamed about a beached whale. I was on the beach and he started talking to me. There were really high white walls all around us, so I couldn't go anywhere but beach. And the whale spoke to me, told me to climb up on it's back (or whatever whales have) and we started to fly over the white walls that were penning us in. Weird huh?

Every time I hear someone talk about the latest episode of "Friends" or some other mainstream pap, I remember "Firefly" and weep for our souls. If television is the aorta of pop culture, crap like "24" and "CSI" are clear indications that our society is in desperate need of a quadruple bypass, and Fox canceling "Firefly" (if I may extend this analogy to monofilamentary thinness) was a deep-fried triple Whopper with extra cheese and a side of Death. One of the few truly creative and alluring tv shows in modern times, and the stupid fucktards can it.
Must...
not...
kill....

Okay, so I got a bit off-topic. Anyway, every time I see an example of rampant stupidity, I think of "Firefly" and everything seems a bit better somehow.

What made me think of Firefly today:

1) My Lessons I learned from Firefly desktop

2) I'm listening to Send me an Angel by real life. 80's pop, but makes me miss my Angels. Oh great, now Broken Wings by Mr. Mister is on!

3) I'm working on the Browncoat Foundation

4) I'm working on the East Coast Shindig - any a ya'll not sign up yet, better do so! Nonoluna has a super shiny weekend long party planned. With a buffet to interrogate!

5) I'm actually saying ya'll. I was taking lunch orders for my company the other day and asked if anyone had a hankerin' for sumpin'. I work for a chinese company, and had to translate it from Firefly to English.

6) Every time I want to swear at work I have to remember to do it in English because if I swear in Chinese, everyone around me will know what I'm saying.

7) My own shiny brown coat which is brown suede hand made and hand stitched together with leather thongs instead of thread. The buttons are 1947 quarters, and there's watercolor type art on leather patches of eagles on each side of the front and a sunset scene of the desert on the back. My father is the coolest for getting it for me (4 years ago, but hey it's an original)

8) this board and fox.com where I am when I SHOULD be working.

One of my Dad's favorite movies, "The Cheyenne Social Club." Substitute Jimmy Stewart's character with Mal and bring in the rest of the crew and it would be a different treatment of "Heart of Gold."

2. The Holodeck.
I mean, it's cool and all. But do you really believe that people would use it to re-create Sherlock Holmes mysteries and old-west saloons? Come on, we all know what the holodeck would be used for. And we also know what the worst job on the Enterprise would be: Having to squeegie the holodeck clean.

LOSTANGEL

Last night I was watching Buffy and Spike said,"Let's go be heros."

You know what line I thought of!

An actual MSNBC news headline.

Quote:

Rebel Texas lawmakers stay put
May 14 -- Texas Democrats say they'll stay in Oklahoma to thwart a GOP plan to redraw congressional districts in the state, NBC's Jim Cummins reports. Accusations flew across state lines as Texas House legislators holed up in an Oklahoma hotel traded barbs with Republicans at home over their rebel effort to stymie GOP redistricting plans. Democrats who shut down the Texas State House held a news conference today, (Tuesday) in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Saw it on the Today Show this morning and thought to myself "GO Independents!" For the story indepth, follow the link and scroll down past the ad.

Way too much makes me think of Firefly...it has permeated everything about me and I think it's shiny!

I have little dinosaurs on my monitor, a little bear that says Keep Flyin' and my package of nifty pics from the Vegas Shindig at the ready while I wait for the computer to do what shouldn't really take that long...Gorram thing!

Ain't he just the most annoying thing. He makes Christopher Lowell look like an action hero.

For those of you who don't know, Christopher Lowell is a very flamboyant "interior decorator" on cable.

I've always been of the opinion that Bobby Trendy is just whoring his stereotype for the media attention. I mean let's be honest, not even Anna's stupid enough to take him that seriously....

okay, so any thought of Christopher Lowell makes me physically ill see?

let's step away from that, shall we? and now, back to your regularly scheduled thread...

maybe this'll distract you. looking at a picture of the constellation Orion, I can hear Kaylee saying, "Is that a star in your pocket, mister, or are you just happy to see me?" and cracking herself up.

check out this shot of Orion on the NASA web site and I think you'll get it.

SARAHETC

Driving home last night in the twilight, I saw kids running around their front yards trying to catch fireflies in jars. I thought, "Go, little guys! Crazy Ivan! Here's something you can't do!"

And the night before that, I went to pick up a keyboard from a friend and he handed me a note with the kanji characters for "little light insect" on it. It is time to find an artist!

Sarah

p.s. Yes, Channain, you're an artist I know, but you don't do tattoos do you?
