ever find yourself going about your daily routine, minding your own business and suddenly something comes up that reminds you of Firefly? since it happens to me only all the time, i figured i couldn't be the only one. there were some just this weekend.

Oooh! Ooh! I got a couple!

I was at a concert a couple of weeks ago, and there was a song the band sang called Glory, and listening to the lyrics and the song reminded me SO much of Mal! Saint of Cheese was there too.

I heard the song Hallelujah the other day too... but I guess that's more of an "only on this board" thing.

I went hiking on Saturday near this old run down ranch, made me think of the town in "Safe".

I saw some EMTs on my drive home last night, decked out in blue, made me think of "Ariel".

The old hay fields near my work are how I imagine the setting of "Heart of Gold".

The Sheriff from 'Train Job' has been in the last two episodes of Fox's 24.

That and Friday's USA Today made me think of my favorite show again...

Every time I'm in yoga class (yes, yoga class. Gotta problem with that? ), the instructor says something like: "try to find a place of serenity..." or somesuch, whereupon I experience a pang of Ultimate Suffering ("Have no place I can be..."). Most counterproductive.

This probably isn't exactly what you meant but today I was in my local co-op, going about my business when an extremely weird woman took it upon herself to follow me around and comment on what I was buying. Now, I'm generally friendly and this is a small town, but when she told me that, "No one uses cumin, whatever are you thinking?" What popped into my mind was, "This here is a recipe for unpleasantness." That and the fact that I wished I could kick her into the engine like Mal did to Niska's henchman.

So what made me think of Firefly?

1.Waking up with Riverish hair.

2. Seeing my brother eat an apple- and warning him not to just munch on it but be careful and cut it.

3. At fencing practice I thought of Mal’s...uh...fencing skills. How I wish I was there instead of Inara and how I really could of taught him how to kick that snobby Atherton’s butt.

4. Got a flu shot and thought “time to go to sleep” (and no my Doc didn’t look anything like Simon).

5. Friend tried to teach me once again to ride a horse and I just knew I’d be kicked off Serenity ‘cause I’d never look as cool as Mal, Zoë, and Jayne.

6. When my little blue cars muffler had to be taped together, my horn was disconnected, my lights only turned on when you banged on the console, and my car only stopped when you used the emergency brake- but it could still race away from a stop light faster than the new cars, I knew it was no longer a Mazda, but a Firefly class.

7. When writing to my best friend over in Kuwait- “I didn’t fight in no war, best of luck though.”

8. Looking though junk mail and saw a book club invite.

this is exactly what i was thinking, as is what Hjermsted experienced when seeing the sheriff on 24. like how excited i am to see Nathan Fillion tonight on Buffy.

there's a weddng scheduled at the church where i work; Egeland & Fillion...the Fillion is Jeremiah, but guess where my head goes?

this morning i was listening to my radio in the car and found out the producer's last name is "Reavers." my immediate thought was "poor guy!"

Ahhhh, I had a Firefly dream last night. I think I've been reading a little too much fanfiction, since the events ran similar to a story I have been reading. All I know is there was a big group of us at Kaylee's house and we were having a big sleepover party. Everyone was in character. Very odd. I was very disappointed because I was walking around the house and I overheard Kaylee and Simon talking, and I thought "Alright! Here's going to be something cute to listen to" but then my dream decided to take me somewhere else. Very disappointing!

It seems every time I see a cop car lately there are 2 at the same time. There first time I noticed this I said, "Two by two, hands of blue."
Then I cracked myself up.

There's a sign on the highway between Las Vegas and Los Angeles called Wild Wash Road, of course, our Wash always comes to mind. And now strawberries equal Kaylee. So when they said that Jessica wanted some strawberries I immediately thought of her as our Kaylee.

On the fox firefly board there is a thread that is buried called inadvertent Firefly references.

1) Getting pulled over by the alliance, er... police the other day. Had all kinds of comments about purple bellies and keeping cargo in the open going through my head while I presented my paperwork for inspection. The plastic dinosaurs and palm trees on the dashboard got a me strange look.

2)Shopping in the mall I found a loose brown tank top and my first thought was that all it needed was a Blue Sun logo.

Everytime I put the key in the ignition of my truck and she fires right up: she's a collection of cheap parts, but she'll run forever 'cause I'm a mechanic that's half awake. (I'm telling you that MOPAR makes the Firefly class. The parts are all after-market and interchangeable. He%%, you can pick them up at junkyards, dust 'em off and plug 'em right in. Chrysler won't be around in 2517, but MOPAR'll keep right on cranking out high-performance stuff.)

Everytime it dawns on me that I need to find a job, 'cause the one I got is about done. Can't rely on luck, not ever.

Everytime I come home to my husband and he makes me laugh; everytime one of the guys I work with says something scathing about him. Most people don't get James and me at first glance...

James makes over my 'wife soup', never knows what's going to be in it, though.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Happens to me pretty much all the time. I had to store my brown leather trench (yes, it was purchased solely because it looked like Mal's coat) since the weather has gotten pretty warm, and when I put it into the coat bag, I couldn't help but think of Firefly.

The other day I was watching a western and thought how cool would it be if Mal, Zoe, and Jane came out of the saloon and shot up those nasty bad guys.

*Sighs* I really miss Firefly.

every time I see the SciFi channel buying series that have already been cancelled - Tracker, Cleo 2525...

every time I realize that "quality" has now become one of those 7 words you can't say on TV...

every time I am forced to admit that I hold no interest for TPTB because I can tell the difference between gold and dross.

Was at the store a little while ago getting supplies for family easter shindig tomorrow and had to fetch marshmallows for fruit salad. And they're in the same section as baking stuff. And I thought "Wow. What Kaylee could have done with all this flour." Then thinking that I know some Browncoats who would love to see this much flour.

We got new critters at the museum yesterday including two baby prarie dogs, a male and a female. They haven't been named yet. They would fight and then love on each other, then wrestle, then love on each other some more, and on and on. I suggested Wash and Zoe and nobody got it. But, I'm sticking to my guns.

Couple of weeks ago, adopted two "fancy" mice (all the wild ones we'd captured in the kitchen had lived out long, happy, well-fed lives in a tank filled with shiny stuff to climb and play with, and no new ones have appeared [many neighbors with cats]...so we went for their domesticated city cousins). The wife insisted on naming the creamy-off-white one Francesca. I, of course, thought that her sister, a spry, inquisitive little soul ("...big world..."), should carry the name, Kaylee.

She's easy to spot; she's the one with the brown coat!

number of browncoats seen in my home town, Starbuck, Minnesota, over Easter weekend? well, not brown--Dad's shade-tree mechanic jacket is khaki with a brown collar, though, and a girl whose khaki long coat that looked a lot like the Zoe's.

tried to use "all manner of" in place of "all kinds of" in a sentence, but my cousin didn't get it. actually she only gets me half the time, but i guess i need to show her the episodes again.

a line from Sweet Home Alabama; "Don't be lettin' all the bought air out." aside from the syntax, it reminded me of Jayne.

my brother, Jay , who took down Dad's Remington pump-action shotgun, cycled it, peered down the barrel to check the site, then put it back on the gun rack and felt compelled to explain why he just does that. he also told me the story about how Dad temporarily lost the gun in a lake, which is why when they clean it, they still find some bits of sand.

he hasn't seen Firefly yet, but he's gonna.

good one! Futuresmith had a good catch on Jubal Early too.

for my fellow Dark Angel fans, Michael Weatherly was on JAG last night wearing mostly black, but with a brown zip sweatshirt under his windbreaker.

at the grocery store yesterday while getting Chinese food, i spotted a guy wearing a brown bomber jacket. since he was a complete stranger, i fought the urge to exclaim "Hey browncoat!" now i wonder if he would have known what i meant.

i'll be shopping for my browncoat this weekend.

You’ve got to think Wash, flying shuttle, and gag reel for this one folks.

On my way to school I was trying to change CD’s with my right hand, shift with my left and drive with my knee and of course ended up swerving all around. When I hit the next red light I looked over past the passengers seat, to where the camera would have been (but was really an older lady in her car next to me) and said with a little laugh “I’m driving like sh**”. The lady didn’t get it, but it made me happy.

Oh and Sarah,
I am humbly and sincerely begging your permission to make a bumper sticker that reads “And every breath we drew?”. Please? Pretty, pretty please?
Thanks

I showed a friend of mine a bit of writing and got perhaps the most rewarding response ever. She hasn't even seen any Firefly eps, and knew EXACTLY what to say!

"Ooh, shiny!"
"Ain't it just?"

Found myself swearing the other day... "Gorram it, this piece of Alliance lala ain't workin!" and when my evil computer gave me hands of blue, I said to myself "It never goes smooth! How come it never goes smooth?"

Ahh... and when I did not get the point in math class, twas I who said "She understands- she does not comprehend."

My brother hit something, and I said, "You don't have to hit them, you know." He said, in Jayne-like tones, "I like smacking 'em!"

...the list goes on and on and on and on...

"Serenity; Ship, Valley, State of Mind."

that would be in context, but not an exact quote

"gorram son of a b.... Fox executives"

especially if you're muttering about the Fox executives out of context with whatever conversation you're part of. folks do start to worry after a bit.

i now have a shiny suede trench coat, y'all!! and i'd highly advise you to find the nearest Wilson's leather store. their spring sale is something to behold--my trench, normally priced at $199 was a mere $49.99. i kid you not.

i'm not seeing the bumper sticker thread yet, so maybe i should have said this sooner--YOU GO GIRL!

i'm off to a horse farm tonight. friend of mine has something like 25 of them right now, although she has to downsize to 15. she has not known the wonders of Firefly, but she's gonna.

TALRIUS

Let's see when I think about Firefly.... Every few minutes; especially since I'm trying to write a fic.

--------------------------------------------------
DOBSON: I'm supposed to be meeting my wife's sister. I've only got a few days to see her...

ZOE: I wish there was another way...

DOBSON: Oh, no, no. That woman is like a dragon. I mean, I believe she has a tail. If there's any other moons we need to visit, or if we could just
fly very slowly...

KAYTHRYN

--So what made you think of FIrefly today?--

I’m eating strawberries and whipped cream. Kaylee would be jealous.
