TEALCANDTRIP

Well, I am a newbie, so before I first saw the show, it was Lost and Charlie. Back in 2002, it would have been Stargate and Daniel with the hair.

Let's see... I have a few.

Veronica Mars: Veronica.
Buffy: Anya.
Angel: Cordelia.
The Pretender: Miss Parker.
Profiler: Sam.

I think that's about it and, in case anyone's wondering (though nobody will be surprised) my favourite Firefly character is Kaylee.

I guess I should watch more TV.... I have none besides Firefly.

Oh and Conan O' Brian... But that's a talk show. And the main reason I watched it was because I'm not a very good sleeper. But I liked conan he is funny :D.

SINGATE

I'm sure the welcoming committee will be along any moment but until then I'll play.

I'll go with something fairly recent, not a Joss show, and was on fox to boot! That oughta stir up some folks round here.

Finally getting to the point I'll go with Millennium and the main character, Frank Black. For anyone who didn't see this it was created by X-Files guru Chris Carter. Apparently he didn't think that show was dark enough so he came up with this gem of a program. The show centers on Frank Black, brilliantly portrayed by Lance Henriksen, who is a forsenic psychologist with the uncanny ability to see into the criminal(usually very warped serial killers) mind. Although Carter and others associated with the show claim this ability wasn't psychic, it certainly looked like some form of ESP to me.

So what makes Frank Black so interesting? Well he is a very tormented character trying to balance his devotion to his family versus the obligation he feels to help keep evil at bay. Also seeing some of the visions in his mind as well as the graphic evidence associated with the crimes can't be doing him any favors. There is also a subplot in the show dealing with the idea that this ability has been passed down to his very young daughter. This coupled with his wife's growing concern about his involvement with the organization he works for creates some great family drama as well.

This show kind of reminds my of Firefly not because of content but because it wasn't on TV for very long. Although it did have a good run of 3 seasons it didn't even make it to the year 2000 which is what the show seemed to be desinged for.

MISSTRESSAHARA

It's so funny, I can't remember what I watched before Firefly, maybe because TV was turning into a miasma of (non)reality crap I've shut it from my mind. What I do remember was the Friday night special for me, Jhon Doe followed by Firefly, it was my night. Then they cancelled the show, and I lost interest in JD, and since then, though I've tried to get into other shows, I find myself coming more online to chat with friends and lurk on sites, this being one of them.

I just remembered one show I was really getting into, another Fux casualty called Cupid. It had a wonderful premise, brilliant writing, great cast, so of course Fux didn't understand it and gave it the axe. Ahhh, so bitter.

Well, I'll give you an official greeting BC and say welcome, and you as well Teal. Pull up a chair, have a pint.

Now I gotta have one in remembrance of Cupid and John Doe.

BSG (new one) - Adama senior, still waiting for them to destroy it in season 3
STTNG - liked Picard, then the show started being boring
Millenium - liked Frank, then they realized they need more episodes that deal with his wife, then they killed all :/
x-files - Mulder, then Carter decided to destroy show and it kinda wandered into obscurity

and my all time favourite:

The Simpsons - Homer
